GDB: Old Dog -- New Tricks

Highya GDB,

About the Cal/Mag deficiency. I agree it looks like a reveg thing. But, I do add more calcium and epsoms salt (mag) occasionally if they show a need. Usually once in the grow. I grow in the ground with natural organic amendments. And, I water every day if it doesn't rain. Hope that helps. Happy Smokin'
Where are you located Bode?

Looking forward to seeing this same shot in a couple of months. From a distance she looks like a baby in that garden 🤣

You think the Coco can still steal the calcium whilst the majority of the roots are still in Coco? Problems may disappear as the football gets bigger? Just a guess 🤔..

Bring on that monster crop 💪 happy pruning 🤣

Hello all and Happy Friday!

It's Flip 22 for the Phase II girls and time for a closer look.

Fat Kid's Cake #1 is first up.

Her lower region. Plenty of "shag" leaves remain. She dropped one the other day and two more this morning (one of which is visible in the pic).

From above. Not a ton of flowers but enough to make things interesting!
FKC1 6-14-24 F22 above.JPG

Full plant. She's holding steady at 23 inches above the soil and I believe she's done stretching.

Fat Kid's Cake #2.

Her lower region, also with lots of "shag" leaves still intact.

From above. Still not a ton of flower but a more level canopy than the other FKC.
FKC2 6-14-24 F22 above.JPG

Full plant. Sometime lately when I wasn't looking she scooted up another inch. She now stands at 2 feet tall.

I think this little diva is as cute as a button! :)

Her lower region. This morning I removed most of her "shag" leaves. She's so short that they just got in the way. I like to be able to see how the soil receives the water I give her and that was just too difficult to do with the leaves in the way. I also removed all her restraints this morning. She was being held down by 8 CarcassSticks®. I've got a little more cleaning up to do on this one.

From above. A bunch of smallish buds -- more cuteness!

Full plant. She's stopped going up and stands at 13 inches.

All back at rest in the tent.

Today they're due another dose of MaxiBloom and CALiMAGic. They'll get the former @ 4.5g per gallon along with the latter @ 3ml per gallon.

I was beginning to think that Strive nutrients would become my go-to brand, but this Maxi series has me re-thinking that notion. I'm loving the green of these plants and it's been very easy to accomplish by just following the Maxi feed schedule. It may become an either/or situation for me when it comes to choosing between the two! They're both very easy to use but the Maxi series is more attractive price-wise.

:bravo: on taking number 2! A nice collection of solid chunks there, so putting them in a gift box in the fridge is definitely the way to go.
Thanks Shed. I'm really liking the gift boxes. I've got 4 of them in the fridge and they're not nearly as intrusive as paper bags can be (and usually are)!
IKR! We should rename that guy MrSerta! :laughtwo:
They are if there's not enough Ca or Mg!
DOH! 🤪
I think she may have needed a little extra K, since she actually began flowering..now that that's on hold, she should get back to normal, without adding any K..although, when she really does start flowering, she may need a little K boost.
that's my theory..
Thanks Carcass. That certainly could be the case. When she was buried I inserted 4 spikes (2 veg and 2 flower) that @StoneOtter was kind enough to provide. I believe he blended them based on The Rev's recipes. Hopefully they'll handle her flowering needs when the time comes.
It's actually a wacky, waving, arms flailing, inflatable tube man.
You left out "goofy"! 😁
Growing outdoors in VA is war. We got all manners of creatures and critters dying for a green snack at night. Thank God that earwigs, slugs, and vine borers don't like weed plants, cause they are real bastards around here. Spider mites and aphids though... we got them by the pallet load, and they love the ganja!
Sounds like the struggle is real, Rhino! :Rasta:

Every little bit helps Bode. Thanks! :thanks:

Damn GV, I almost forgot we buried her coco root ball intact. I'll be she does need some calcium! 💡

Thanks for this great reminder! :thanks:

I really appreciate your time and your feedback.

Happy growing all!

PEACE

Really liking these short and stocky ladies you grow I think I need 6 of these in my 4x4 🤔 alot less work for a similar yeild your way I guess 😎

👊 Hopefully it's not a constant need 🤞

I went with maxi as I didn't want the A&B no more just a calmag and a few scoops then we're good 👌 I have bottles I need to finish off but got too lazy to mix them 🤣

Where do I get one of those lazy meters you have? 🤣

Thanks GV. I like them because they're so much easier for me to move around. I can pick them up without getting a faceful of weed (makes me itch) and they're easier to balance!

Easy peazy! And it works! :Rasta:

It's genetic, GV. Can be a PITA at times but IMO it's better than the alternative. My buddy LB has the genetic opposite and he's always looking for something to do! :Rasta:

I too am liking the GH Maxi Grow and I used Maxi Bloom last year. Both very easy. My plants love it and look pretty healthy. :thumb: 🍋
Your plants look like they love the stuff, Keith. But I think they love you too! :Rasta:

Highya GDB,

For those inquiring minds who want to know, I live on the coast of Maine.

Your ladies are gorgeous!! All of them! Their color is a strong beautiful green, and all praying nicely! Looks like they'll fill out a lot as they continue! Huge colas would be good! They have the makin's of nice chubby cannabis ladies!! Happy Smokin'

Ahh, there are some beautiful spots up there on the Maine coast Bode! But I'm sure you know that.

Thanks for the nice words about the plants. I hope they continue on their merry way! :Rasta:

Well as "they" say, balding can be either a sign of wisdom or early hair loss! 😁

You have a great weekend too, Greenvein!

Thanks @Chef Theo. Very nice of you to stop by!

BTW, you never responded to this comment I made about you earlier. What say you?

Most chefs taste as they prepare dishes in order to ensure they're achieving the desired flavor profile. You must be blitzed by the end of the day! :)

They should do it. At mid August when she's going into flower, maybe sooner for you, a shot of P in the form of Batcrap will put her in a frenzied push to flower! I'm going with Papa's Perfect Poop this year top dressed. 5-10-2 Lot's of people say batcrap at that time makes them more flavorful too! But they also say to do it when I said and not later or it doesn't help at all. Or worse. Until then I've had good luck with just top feeding every 2 weeks with Geoflora and last year I started dressing with worm castings a couple of times and compost a couple of times between feedings.

Holy Batcrap, Stone!

I'll take that under advisement. Thanks. :thanks:
