GDB: Old Dog -- New Tricks

Still a nice looking harvest even if the flop was not that impressive , Tell the Miss 's if she will put that cup on back bumper it will stay , I have had many beer can ride on mine without knowing till after the fact . Nice report on the HL if your happy thats what counts .
Beer cans on the bumper! Yup, back in the day! :Rasta:

Good morning growers!

So I made it up to LB's place yesterday and got to visit the remote Cosmic Lights! It's my first time back to see her since she was left there on May 16th.

The first thing that stood out to me was how she really has not grown very much at all. She nearly looks the same size as the day we first buried her.

This was her then:

And now:

I suppose she has bulked up a little bit but I was expecting more height.

She has some leaf discoloration that looks a lot like a calmag deficiency to these old eyes. Are calmag issues typical for outdoor grows?

The little pistils are still present but they don't appear to be doing much growing and they remain white. I think I see signs that she's in a state of reveg. It looks like she's producing some single-pronged leaves. At least that's what I think I'm seeing but I'm not certain.

I'm posting this pic so you can see the goofy balloon guy that LB has in his yard. (That yellow thing off to the left.)

That area I've circled in red is LB's koi pond and the predator birds are back! He has a hawk and a crane that visit trying to get to his fish. The goofy balloon is there to try to keep the birds at bay. He also has a full sized female mannequin that he periodically stands out there (she's scary looking). And lastly, he has a speaker wired up out there on which is says he'll sometimes loudly play a talk radio station.

I get such a kick out of this descriptions of his battles with nature! The moles are back too and he now has a family of groundhogs living under his tool shed! He said he pisses around the perimeter of the shed daily in an attempt to drive them off. He even has big 24 ounce cups of piss in reserve to pour around the structure on a regular basis. And the moles, well that battle has been ongoing for years! He told me he recently connected a hose to the exhaust pipe on his truck, started the truck and then stuck the other end of the hose down the entrance to a mole tunnel. :laughtwo: It's like knowing a real-life Elmer Fudd!

Anyhow, I always get some good laughs listening to his war stories. He truly loves his garden. When I got there he was busy spreading mulch -- and a lot of it!

Here she hides in plain site:

LB has been watering her twice daily. He gives her a heavy watering in the morning and a lighter one near dark.

So it's pretty much just wait and see for the CL.

I'd appreciate any input about the leaf discoloration and how to mitigate!

-----------------------------

Back on the homefront, the Blue Cindy is the last New Trick girl standing. Her leaves were so decimated from application of that damn bloom booster that I've removed nearly all of them. A few days back I thought she had stopped drinking but what she did was really slow down -- a lot. It took her over the last three days to drain her reservoir from only being half full. So I'll say she's been in a semi-droughted state for the last few days.

By yesterday her coco was very dry and hard. I busted up the top with a small gardening tool and gave her a good drink from the top and also poured about 1/3 of a gallon in her reservoir. Before watering her I added some wetting agent (mostly yucca and aloe) to the water and pHed to 5.8.

I've got a good feeling about this plant, despite her somewhat off-putting appearance. I thinks she's got the potential to be a nice one.

I scoped her and she's getting close:

And of course, I took a tester:

That's todays (actually yesterday's) goings ons!

Thanks for looking in and happy growing.

PEACE

Not me.
It's like knowing a real-life Elmer Fudd!
Haha! I've been that Fudd!

I still like to water every 2 or 3 days to make a wet/dry cycle until mid August. Maybe the revel is using her up making her look a bit odd? Mine in ocean forest soil don't get that look. She'll grow through it maybe. Keep watching and feeding. Reveg is traumatic.

I agree on Blue Cindy! She's awesome!

I'll give her a solid 6️⃣ for that effort!...
although, I'm not sure if I'm on the council or not..:hmmmm:

Nice haul ,GDB! 💚

A rubber mug was going to be my next suggestion...
Of course you're on the council, Carcass. Everyone who's awake can be on the council. Thanks for the 6!

Someone else said to keep an outdoor plant moist at all times. Now I'm getting confused.

Huh? What is "revel?"

Thanks regarding the Blue Cindy! She does look tasty. :yummy:

Hi GDB
My two cents worth is that watering twice daily is a lot. Maybe the roots are too wet. I am not familiar with the weather/humidity and soil conditions way out East, but my outdoor plants in CO only need water every 1-2 days.
As for your buddies mole problem. Just have him bring in a bunch of kids, give them all good clubs and let them go at it!

I think the reveg is what has slowed the plant down. Now that it knows what to do (single pronged leaves), it will probably become a monster!
Blue Cindy is beautiful.

Never mind my question Stone. I think you meant "reveg."

Hi Mr S nice to see you sir!
As you Otter! I hope you are keeping everyone in line here.
Wow! Yet another cameo appearance. Am I becoming the Sauga whisperer? I damn sure hope not! :laughtwo:

Go back to sleep sweet prince.
My dog pines when I'm away. My wife doesn't care when I'm away. I sure am glad I have you to tag me with love when I'm away!

I didn't want to be on your council anyway.

Noted Crusher and thank you! Information on outside growing is trickling in. I've told LB about watering less frequently for now. :thanks:

Thanks Carmen. She still has a ways to go so anything is possible, I guess! :Rasta:

LOL, and that's an excellent way to get around the open container law!
Yesterday I held a quiet going home service for the Hash Lover!
:bravo: on taking number 2! A nice collection of solid chunks there, so putting them in a gift box in the fridge is definitely the way to go.
And unleashed into a rather underwhelming flop. The Flop Council is not going to be very impressed with that minor floppage.
But the Upright Citizen's Brigade might be rather pleased, so submit that pic to them.
Why am I here again? Oh yes, to remind me it's nap time!

Are calmag issues typical for outdoor grows?
They are if there's not enough Ca or Mg!
It looks like she's producing some single-pronged leaves. At least that's what I think I'm seeing but I'm not certain.
Looks like this has been answered, and I agree it's most likely due to the quick flower and reveg.

I've got a good feeling about this plant, despite her somewhat off-putting appearance.
She looks potent...:lot-o-toke:
I'd appreciate any input about the leaf discoloration and how to mitigate!
I think she may have needed a little extra K, since she actually began flowering..now that that's on hold, she should get back to normal, without adding any K..although, when she really does start flowering, she may need a little K boost.
that's my theory..
Someone else said to keep an outdoor plant moist at all times.
That was probably me...moist/damp, but not wet- a couple gallons every 3 days should do it...more often in the heat..
so you can see the goofy balloon guy that LB has in his yard.
It's actually a wacky, waving, arms flailing, inflatable tube man.
..have you never seen The Simpsons?

As you Otter! I hope you are keeping everyone in line here.
Being silly as a goose and serious as a heart attack I'm the wrong guy for that job! I have no middle ground!

Maybe they have a point. I started every day last year for no good reason I knew and stopped after a few weeks until around August when flower starts. You may be right.

Reveg! Are you high? I'm about to put a spark to a Sky Muffin cone! :hookah:

I think Carmen has the right idea.

Growing outdoors in VA is war. We got all manners of creatures and critters dying for a green snack at night. Thank God that earwigs, slugs, and vine borers don't like weed plants, cause they are real bastards around here. Spider mites and aphids though... we got them by the pallet load, and they love the ganja!

Highya GDB,

About the Cal/Mag deficiency. I agree it looks like a reveg thing. But, I do add more calcium and epsoms salt (mag) occasionally if they show a need. Usually once in the grow. I grow in the ground with natural organic amendments. And, I water every day if it doesn't rain. Hope that helps. Happy Smokin'
