GDB: Old Dog -- New Tricks

Hello all!

I've had a busy day on yesterday and then game 2 of the NBA Championship! So here I am this Monday morning posting about what I did yesterday.

It's Flip 70 for the New Trick girls and the Lemon Bubble is being laid to rest!

That's the good news. In other news, her 2 tent-mates -- Hash Lover & Blue Cindy -- are likely done too!
If that's the case then I'm about to serve an unplanned trim jail sentence.

First the Lemon Bubble. Now is about the time I had planned to take her down. When I checked on her today her reservoir was pretty much at the same level as yesterday. Doesn't look like she drank a bit and her pot is light as can be.

And in natural light:

She was a petite but sticky girl. That's an eight ounce jar for reference.

She got a quick, rough trim. She'll eventually get turned in the bowl trimmer.
LB 6-9-24 F70 array.JPG

And I've been anxious to try something I saw @Regrowth do a while ago: use gift boxes to dry her in the fridge. (I usually fridge dry, but using paper bags.)

Notably missing from this takedown report: a flop pic. Ha! There were no supports to remove! :Rasta:

--------------------------

Neither of the other two plants had drank much since yesterday, either. I didn't expect that.

So I'll be inspecting them closely today to see if they too are ready to be taken down.

Thanks for looking in.

Congratulations on another fantastic grow and harvest! Will you leave the gift box covers off?
And That Godberry! What a beauty!

Hello again grow gang!

It's Flip 18 for the Phase II girls and they're still ascending!

The last time I measured the Fat Kid's Cakes was on May 31, their Flip 8. At that time they were both about 17.5 inches above the soil. The Godberry, last measured on June 6 (her F14), was at 10 inches above.

Today's heights:
FKCs (both): 23 inches
GB: 13 inches

NT P2 6-10-24 F18 tent eyelevel.JPG

With these FKCs I've noticed a new use for the many large fans I leave at the bottoms of the plants. This pair really got the true 70's style "Shag Haircuts." I left more of the large fans (with the flowering sites removed) than I typically do. With these plants those fans will begin sagging mightily if the plants are the least bit thirsty. Even if the tops of the plants look content and show no sign of needing water, the "Shag" leaves will tell me a little is needed. So nearly every other day I'm giving the FKCs a drink to keep those "Shag" leaves upstanding. They usually take a liter in order to stand back up, sometimes 1.5 liters.

I've changed my feeding cycle from feeding on Sundays and Thursdays to feeding every 4 days. So in between their doses of Maxi nutrients, they get fed in dribs and drabs according to the sag of the "Shags." I abandon any notion of maintaining a wet/dry cycle once my plants are flowering. I like to keep them at least moist at all times.

Stunning silhouette GDB. Congrats on your bountiful harvest.
Thanks so much Ms. Carmen! :thanks:

Thanks Stone!

I'm sure the GB would agree with you that, yes, she is a beauty.

The tops will go on the boxes in the fridge!

Can you link me to information on Fridge drying? That is new to me.

Thanks MedSci!

Don't waste your time going back to see how I kept her so short. She did it mostly on her own!

I'll try to find you a link about drying in the fridge.

Thank you con! She looked even better before a I gave some bloom booster! :Rasta:

Thanks for noticing Crusher! :laughtwo:
And the buds look pretty sweet too! Ill be following to see how the fridge/gift box curing works. Id much rather receive a gift box of buds than a new shirt!

Thanks MedSci!

HERE you go @MedScientist. This is a pretty solid discussion about drying in the fridge.

WooHoo! Thanks! ❤️

Over the years, I have grown just about every way, extracted and used this Miraculous Medicine every way (except suppositories), yet never heard of fridge drying! I look forward to Learning something NEW!

Ha! I "suppose" you'll get to suppositories eventually MedSci!

Be interesting to see how high your ass can get! :laughtwo:

No pics Please Med. ! The harvest looks really good , with the buds sitting straight in the box should do good would think . more even drying .
Yeah, like Smoke said MedSci! In fact, no description either, please kind sir! :laughtwo:

Don't be an asshole!

Congrats on your first coco harvest bro  looks like a great smoke 🤤🤤 enjoy! What's the likelihood of Coco filling your garden again?
Chances are that on my next grow from seed coco will be filling my pots, GV! In fact, I'll be doing the coco/swick combo again.

I didn't get it quite right on my first try but I'm still impressed with the growth that the medium/method produced. I'd like to give it another go and try to do better! For me, it's important to do that quickly, while the mistakes from the first round are fresh in my mind! :Rasta:
