First Ever SCROG (Kinda) with 600w GrowLedHydro

new update ..did away with the scrog for now ... need to sex my plants first ..duh lol

anyway ... also transplanted to 5gal rosepots .. and knocked the glass out of my 600w light.
I sure hope the front right plant is a female JH... its the pheno i want.

and a small update of the grow ... no preflowers yet ..oddly

jack herer bottom right... really stretching
jackherer04142010.jpg

local hydroponic store guy gave me a large bottle of bloombastic to try out .. so ive added about 10tsp of that into 25gal res along with the rest of the nutes ... the diesel is really loving the high ppm ...actually all seem to like it.

I liked the cramed look. It will do you wonders with that LED and a scrog. I like the drip heads, what type of timer do you have or do you manually turn it on and off?

I usually see preflower 3-4 weeks into veg. YOu can always flip the switch to get quicker sex shown but I would personally wait until shoorts are touching the bottom of the screen.

Everything looks top notch though.

its a standard digital timer ... its set to water every 3 hours for 10 minutes... which is basically when the water begins to seep out the bottom. using clog free drippers...and found some rain drippers with adjustable rates ..only 6 of them ..so i put 3 in. they actually kinda make a foam of the nutrients coming out. I dont know ifit really makes any difference.

Right before the lights go out .. i give each of them 1L of RO ph5.9-6.1 water only ... i guess to flush for the night.
have a dual diaphragm airpump on a monster air diffuser in the res.

im really hoping the 2 jack herers, 1 godbud, and the diesel are fems ... as I have an aeroponic unit in waiting to get this going.

i think by this time next month ill be using 2 of these 600w LED lights ... after harvest and i get 3 or 4 good mothers going ill put some clones outside to finish ..and of course load up the aero unit.

Man I cant wait to see you flower these plants. I have been wanting to see a quality scrog done using one of these high powered LEDs. If everything keeps up with the way it is going I bet you get soda can sized cloas. 8 plants @ 600 watts, well you might be the first person documented to break the 1 lb marker using LED. This is going to be real good....:bravo:

it appears the 6 largest plants are starting to make some buds ... still havent found any 'nuts' yet. just did some final trimming on some of the underneath rubbish.

picked up some plastic netting ... noticed the plants don't like the metal chicken wire.

a pound would be sweet!

I got the popcorn out...Nice Grow....

Thought ya had started with 15 plants, what happened to some and how many now left?

I'm pulling up a chair for this one for sure!

Looking great so far, amazing how fast they veg under LEDs, eh? hehe... :rollit:

Hey, if you are wondering about the sex, please post a few close-ups of the internodes and I'm sure everyone here can help you.

I find that when plants are happy, they will produce more females, so you may not have many males to remove at all.

Just keep an eye on 'em... even if they are male, they will not open and start dropping pollen immediately, so you usually have a small window in which to remove them, at least a couple of days if not more like a week.

:goodjob:

i started with 15 ..gave the sharksbreath away... and had a runt ... and thus far ... it only looks like 1 male... only because i look at the 4th node with 50x magnification and it looks like 2 little balls on each side of the node ... if thats the case ..then ill have 11 .. more than enough for a pound i guess.

the rest .. the white hair has come out ... 1 jack herer has what looks like crab or lobster claws on the 4th node @50x magnification ...very similar to the other jack herer's that have shot out the hair.

ive pulled 2 clones from jack herer, godbud, diesel, and white widow ... the diesel and white widow i potted today from the ezcloner.

I just assembled a 4x4 screen w/ plastic screening using general hydroponic snapture pieces and 1 1/4" PVC. will update photos tomorrow when i get it installed.

my 12/12 came up and the lights went out so ... ran out of time to take photos.

the blue fruit and diesel plants will each have at least 5 colas lol. seems where i had the chicken wire before actually FIM'd the tops ..and the plants did not like the metal at all haha... oh well ... yeah i gotta get this screen on because they are getting bigger.

As far as learning hydroponics ... its not hard at all if you can follow nutrient directions and subtract 20% to begin with and slowly increase to full or even more than full strength all the while learning to read your plants no matter what they are.

Im getting accustomed to the schedule and staying on top of things ... and have an aeroflo2 36site unit to fill up with clones from my mothers ive cloned out now.

As far as nutrients are concerned ... Reverse Osmosis water is probably the most important investment you can make besides some quality PH readers. I dont really pay much attention to the PPM now provided the plants are happy. If they aren't ... the first thing I do is check PH ... which is hovering at 6 .. and then PPM. Im riding around 1800-2000 right now.

Lastly, thanks for tuning in. Im no noob with 420 growing ... just a noob with the indoor hydro ...and can tell you this stuff is gonna be super high quality. Stuff outside is good ..but this will spank anything grown outdoors ... unless maybe its that Alaskan Thunderfuck grown there in that 30 foot tundra topsoil.

hey brother i was thinking of running a drip system on my next grow but i dont really know shit about them, i mean i know how they work and all, but do u think the will be able to feed some girls in soil in 5gal pots? where is a good drip sytem to get, like size drippers should i get and what kind of pump? any kind of info i would love to hear. basically i am not looking to feed them a few times a day just turn on the drip system a when i usaly water them now and just be lazie and let the dripiers do all the work so i dont have to reach around the back and shit when i usaly feed them. is this posable?

i think running drip 24/7 is possible. Im using a 690gph mag pump in the 25gal res ...

if you wanted to drip ... you would need some pressure valves that can be hooked into the tubing running to your drippers .. or a very small pump.

Personally ..id go with a good pump ... a couple little giants probably with the pressure adjusting drippers.

If you use coco you can water all the time. The issue with dripping though ... sometimes the medium and nutrient solution can get warm. I run every 3 hours for 3 purposes:

1. Keeps the root zone cool
2. Re-aerates my resevoir and root zones
3. Recirculating roughly 12 gallons every 3 hours keeps the nutrient solution well mixed ...in other words .. i dont have all the salt buildup you would find in your res if you simply ran a drip constantly... that water in the res needs to move ya know.

Of course my reasoning may be flawed, but it makes sense to me.

I have a simple valve on the hose coming up from my pump before it t's out and around my pots. I pull out the hose on the pots end and run a hose to my sink when i want to drain and refill the res.

Simply turn the pump on and ... out goes all the water. I have a 25gal res on standby next to my RO unit which is already mixed ... and a pump in that res ... run that same hose from one pump to the other pumping water directly into my growing res from my mixing res. Rinse and repeat every 5 or so days. Make sense?

Im following yours as well. I only picked up this light after reading your grow. Whether its as good as conventional grow lights or not is another discussion ... it fits my available space ... low heat... and so far ... good growing.

:nicethread::bravo:

I love this statement. I wish more people would just say this! This is exactly what an LED should be used for, and you're gonna get the results to prove it!

+Reps for cutting out all the BS.

Re: the height of the scrog - 18" above the top of the pots is prolly a little high. I usually shoot for between 8-12" above the pot. Basically - the lower you get it - the more you can take advantage of the lowest branches. Either way you'll fill the scrog. But if you keep it higher then you'll end up trimming stuff from under - which is no big deal.
