Well defoil would be perfect but now a days to help light penetration we do this thing called LST. Light stress training. Basically we bend the branches down to allow other sites to get light for growth. Pinching is now a thing of the past. Trust me I know there are so many changes over the years that it's just insane how many techniques we now use compared to the golden days lol.
