Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Thanks,Shed!
Next years outdoor grow should be fun !

Here's what I'm going to try-a 20" dowel hot glued to the top edge of the pot,I can add more if I need to,but it's working the way it is right now-tighten the ties a little every day,and in a few days-bam! wide plant! :) it's already 8" wider than it was this morning...

It's ugly, but it seems to work-and once the plant is wide enough,I can probably remove it.

Great idea, but for me and my spinal issues I like to turn the girls when watering.
I wonder if I did the same thing, in a 4x4 with 5g pots if the sticks would hang up on the same tie down sticks on the other plant.
I'm going to get the tape measure out and give it a look.
Thanks for the idea.

Congratulations on your seeds!
Thanks,Salt!
It'll be interesting to see what comes from them!
What was your trick to keep the pollen isolated to that one bud,
I just did it in the morning, before the wind came up,and that bud is very low on the plant-
I dipped a q-tip in the pollen, and rolled it over the top of the bud.
Then an hour later I sprayed that section of the plant down with water,to de-activate any pollen that might be sitting there waiting for the wind to put it somewhere I didn't want it to be.

Indoor girls are shaping up nicely there mate. I'm thinking I need to thin mine out a little but I'm a bit cautious with these autos. Ms Cheese is awesome. Be really cool to see one of those seeds pop in the future.

They sell "garden swivels"on amazon,@John Wick -like a big turntable for your plant-some are only $10.00,with a 150lb capacity.

Going to check that out today.
Thank you Sir. :adore:

Thanks for that, carcass. All that I could think of is the wind blowing that pollen all over the plant. Now I understand. When / if I am able to collect some pollen from a male, I'm going to use this tip. Preciate it (how we say "I appreciate it", in the south. Yes, we're a little loosey goosey with the King's English).

Man, that is awesome, brother carcass. What was your trick to keep the pollen isolated to that one bud, if you don't mind me asking?
If the wind (or any breeze) concerns you, one way is to cover the branch you want to pollinate with a plastic bag and spray the rest of the plant with water. Then shake the water off, remove the bag, and pollinate the branch. Then later spray the whole plant again as carcass did. Having the rest of the plant wet will prevent it from accidentally getting pollinated.

Thanks, Shed. I'm bookmarking this post, too. Most helpful.

@InTheShed 's way is definitely the right way to do it-my way is risky-to be honest,I didn't even think of wetting the plant down first-that's a great idea!

I've got to go for a couple of hours-I'm saying this so folks don't think I'm rude, leaving in the middle of a conversation. :)
See you in a few (hours)!

Going to check that out today.

Thanks CarCass, got two on the way, my back thanks you too.
I bought the non-slip, indoor/outdoor type designed for heavy potted plants.
$20.00x2. I'm a happy camper :hugs::goof:

I use a 50/50 mixture of pollen and white flour to keep the pollen in place. I use a paintbrush to put it where I want it, and the flour seems to cement it in there well enough that it doesnt fly around. A few days afterwards when I can see that the pollen took, I wet the area down to neutralize any excess. That is an amazing idea of wetting the rest of the plant down beforehand though... I may just try that too.

Seeds!
On purpose,though-about a week ago, I pollinated this one bud on MsCheese with pollen harvested from the big male plant that was growing in her spot 3 or 4 months
ago,and it worked!

You've seen MsCheese, and here's the proud poppa (pollen donor) a few months back:

That's all- I just got a little tickled when I saw the seed pods :)

Hey!

Congratulations on your pregnant ms.cheese! I mean, I guess she’s a Mrs.Cheese now!

Quick question... how long would the pollen last if stored properly?
