Here's what I'm going to try-a 20" dowel hot glued to the top edge of the pot,I can add more if I need to,but it's working the way it is right now-tighten the ties a little every day,and in a few days-bam! wide plant! it's already 8" wider than it was this morning...
It's ugly, but it seems to work-and once the plant is wide enough,I can probably remove it.
Thanks,Salt!Congratulations on your seeds!
I just did it in the morning, before the wind came up,and that bud is very low on the plant-What was your trick to keep the pollen isolated to that one bud,
They sell "garden swivels"on amazon,@John Wick -like a big turntable for your plant-some are only $10.00,with a 150lb capacity.
Thanks for that, carcass. All that I could think of is the wind blowing that pollen all over the plant. Now I understand. When / if I am able to collect some pollen from a male, I'm going to use this tip. Preciate it (how we say "I appreciate it", in the south. Yes, we're a little loosey goosey with the King's English). Thanks,Salt!
It'll be interesting to see what comes from them!
I just did it in the morning, before the wind came up,and that bud is very low on the plant-
I dipped a q-tip in the pollen, and rolled it over the top of the bud.
Then an hour later I sprayed that section of the plant down with water,to de-activate any pollen that might be sitting there waiting for the wind to put it somewhere I didn't want it to be.
If the wind (or any breeze) concerns you, one way is to cover the branch you want to pollinate with a plastic bag and spray the rest of the plant with water. Then shake the water off, remove the bag, and pollinate the branch. Then later spray the whole plant again as carcass did. Having the rest of the plant wet will prevent it from accidentally getting pollinated.Man, that is awesome, brother carcass. What was your trick to keep the pollen isolated to that one bud, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks, Shed. I'm bookmarking this post, too. I wasn't quite sure it "took" till this morning, but she's definitely got some "buns in the oven"You were hiding your ( her) pregnancy?
@InTheShed 's way is definitely the right way to do it-my way is risky-to be honest,I didn't even think of wetting the plant down first-that's a great idea! Thanks, Shed. I'm bookmarking this post, too. Most helpful.
Going to check that out today.
Thank you Sir.
got a little tickled

Seeds!
On purpose,though-about a week ago, I pollinated this one bud on MsCheese with pollen harvested from the big male plant that was growing in her spot 3 or 4 months
ago,and it worked!
You've seen MsCheese, and here's the proud poppa (pollen donor) a few months back:
That's all- I just got a little tickled when I saw the seed pods
