Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

That looks like a good "sittin" rock!!!
It really is-it was just luck that it ended up that way when the dolly broke-there wasn't any moving or rotating it after it fell on the ground.
Good to see you in here, @greenjeans - stop in anytime!

Thanks, John- Mrs.C still says it's the best present ever.... One of a kind, It won't wear out, never needs maintenance, nobody ever asks to borrow it, and it'll never get stolen or lost :)

That was a very thoughtful gift for your wife. It’s simple, but thinking about the history that rock has been through is unbelievable, (to say the least).

The memories you and your sons have of getting it there, will live on, and your kids will tell the story to their kids about how that rock got there. Priceless.

Mrs.C understands the struggle you guys had to get it there, and must really, really appreciate it! :circle-of-love:

You guys are awesome! Had me laughing my ass off at 700 am :goof:

Monday,once again!
I hope everyone's week is off to a great start-time for a little update!
Both plants have made pretty good progress in the last seven days, although one of them decided to give me a few little problems...

Here's a look at their progress this week,PP on the left,GDPxGB on the right:
(PP is 6 days older than GDPxGB)

1.JPG

The PP started flowering about 4 days ago (26 days old), and she's started stretching
a little.
The modified quadline thing is working pretty well, keeping the plants a little "narrower" so far, although I'm not sure how much difference it's going to end up making..
Here's the PP's "x" structure:
2.JPG

And here's the GDPxGB-this is the one that gave me a few problems-it's apparently a lot more brittle than anything I've grown before- I first found this out when both top branches started breaking off - she really doesn't like the training very much.

When they started breaking off I undid their tiedowns -since where they started breaking is not a place where tape or zip ties will work,I had to get creative on the repair...Elmers glue seemed like a viable option.o_O
Since it's water based, even if it doesn't help,it isn't going to hurt anything either.
The branches weren't broken all the way off, just cracked about halfway through the knuckle, and a little floppy side to side.

So here's the freshly glued plant (this was on Friday)
3.JPG

And here's how it looks today:
4.JPG

After the glue dried (I gave it 2 coats), I resumed the training, tied the branches back down,
and the branches didn't break the rest of the way off,so I think the glue helped-they seem to be plenty strong today,so I think they're healed up...

But, I wasn't done breaking things yet- I was actually being careful, trying to bend a branch down a little, and "pop"- it snapped clean off...not careful enough,evidently....
No point trying to save it, because it wasn't part of the plant anymore...so now I've got a "tri line" plant...but shit happens....

6.JPG

Even with the breakage, the GDPxGB is doing alright-I need to defoliate a little, the leaves on this plant are pretty big:

5.JPG

They're both doing well overall, and I think I'm done breaking things off.

The PP is 5" tall now,and starting to stretch-her training is pretty much done,so I'm just going to let her grow now...the GDPxGB has about another week to go.
7.JPG

MsCheese had a pretty good week-We had 3 days in the high 90's and she loved it!
She has slowed down in the growth dep't -47" tall now,so she grew only 3" this week.

She's fully flowering, so she's on 6grams/gal. of Mega Crop-she got fed twice last week
because she got watered twice because of the heat...

8.JPG

No training or defoliation for her, she's just going to grow natural all the way to the end.

Here's the main cola-finally getting enough flowers to show up in a pic:

9.JPG

She's still got quite a few spiders living on her, which may be why other bugs are leaving her alone-it's these little jumping spiders-it's amazing to watch these guys "work"-they're like little monkeys, jumping from leaf to leaf ...
jumper.jpg

And that's all the noteworthy stuff that happened last week- pretty good week, although I could have done without the "breaking stuff off" part....
The GDPxGB will probably be flowering by next Monday, but maybe not-you just don't know till you know with the autos...

Thank You for looking!
I really appreciate the support!
See you back here in a week :peace:

Have your tried massaging the stem first
I may have been a little aggressive with the massage-that's when it broke off... :)
That plant seems less forgiving than most-even the little branches are stiff-they really don't
want to be messed with.
I'm just going to be extra careful-she doesn't have much training to go,hopefully she still has most of her branches when I get done...

so I think the glue helped-they seem to be plenty strong today,so I think they're healed up...
I'll be damned. I didn't see that one coming. See, this is why this place is worth the price of admission. I may have to substitute wood glue for elmers glue, but I'll use this little tip one day, I'm sure.

That's a great idea,FEF
That beige colored water based wood glue would probably work great-it's like twice as strong as the white glue.
I have some in the shop,so when/if I break something else,that's what I'll use!

I see a toad shaped rock.
I saw a woman's profile with a big pile of hair on top:
the rock.JPG

My ex husband chopped one of his fingers off with a similar sized rock. He was trying to relocate it for his Smother.
And that's why he's an ex. It all fits.
Elmers glue seemed like a viable option.
Yes, Elmers is good for that as it's non-toxic.
I think I'm done breaking things off.
:hmmmm:
That beige colored water based wood glue would probably work great
Titebond III is also non-toxic "and is FDA approved for indirect food contact (cutting boards)." I'd still go with Elmers as it's non-toxic even when liquid since it was designed with kids in mind.

Plants look great and holding off flowering for a nice long time! Love when autos do that :).

I saw a woman's profile with a big pile of hair on top:
I'm not very artistic- I just see a big rock that's flat on top...
My granddaughter thinks it's a falling star that landed in the yard...

I like Mc Cheese the best with her spider's and all.

They look great CarCass.

I wish I could grow outdoors soon again.

Thanks,John
Spiders can be a little creepy, but they only eat other bugs,so the little ones are good to have around...(outside)
Not the big, fat garden spiders,though- those things are scary.

Carcass!! Damn! Everything’s looking fantastic! Your autos are growing vigorously, Ms.Cheese is fattening up, and you’ve got a lil army of spiders protecting your prized possession!

I see you’ve “gently” gave your plant a haircut! You know that tends to happen to me too! There’s nothing nimble about having fat fingers is there!!??

Seriously carcass! Your plants look great! :bravo:

How’s your grand daughter? You haven’t mentioned that your watching your grand daughter in a while..
