Bluter's Happy Home For Hilarious Hempsters

everyone graduated up to full seedling nutes today.

color is good. i have one acapulco and one gelato lagging behind. the others have probably gotten closer to the res. there's plenty of time to catch up.

there's going to be one more feed at this level in 2 - 3 days and then i'm ramping the nutes up a little heading toward veg strength. i'm not running any extra cal-mag at the moment. there is a little in the nutes.

never do that unless married and you're going with them, even then i'd take it under advisement before making the call
lol

edit : hate to correct but a c3 is closer to 30 - 35k if it's an auto and 40 -50k if it's a standard. my sisters ex picked an auto up 2 yrs ago, it was over 25k then and he's had offers well above since.
It was a manual transmission, it had a rear end that was geared for top end. I buried the speedometer at 160 going across the Alligator Alley. CL🍀

Does that mean my 10 year old Chevy Cruze is worth more because it's a stick?

think it might worth more if it was a car ... :p

actually only around 10% of the cars out there are standard now. they do carry a bit of a premium among the drivers that prefer them. it makes far more price difference on an enthusiast vehicle than a commuter car, but even a commuter car will get 10 - 15% more in the used market as a standard.

on most cars it's about a $500 difference in the used market. on the e30 it's about a $1500 difference.

I'm humming Pomp and Circumstance now!

i'm envisioning you dressed for king chuck's coronation .. :cheesygrinsmiley:

the seedlings are getting close to needing a feed today.

i wanted to bump the feed but it may be early on the smaller two. the larger three could probably be fed today, but they can still dry out for a day while the others keep catching up.

gave them a quick foliar instead and decided to bump the feed for tomorrow by a smaller increment. we'll see how it works out. pretty soon i'm gonna have to feed for the larger ones and the other pair will have to deal with it.

they are 10 days from seed and about a week above ground. hempy is slow at this stage. i'm running the light a little over 50%, they're getting about 125w, but i could use a little higher kelvin.

edit : hey look my ass cheeks are in the corner of the pic :cheesygrinsmiley:

Love a nute bump. Manufacturers’ suggested dosages are for losers. Add 50% until the plants cry. Then dry your eyes 🤣

Came for plants. Stayed for the car chat!

One of the best drives I ever had was out of central Cape Town, I’d been back in the UK for 10 days. Arrived Thursday evening. Did the pub quiz and then drove over a beautiful mountain pass in my now ex but great mate’s Mini Cooper S Special. 1st Gen BMW. Loved that car. Handled like a Go Kart. I’d done that drive loads. I had a Focus Si but mostly drove a 1980 Merc 500SL. Red. Bobby Ewing car. Cream leather and battered. But majestic. Handled a bit like a boat though! It was a cruiser and the roof basically never got raised. Bit of rain whatever. It shifted though.

My companion - a lovely guy called Rob. He woulda been about 55 then. I was 30.

Said “Jo specifically told me not to let you drive over to the game reserve tonight”
- Rob she told you that because she knew that it was gonna happen anyway. Give me the keys. I’ll drop my suitcase at home and we are gone.

What a drive. Late night, 1am. Empty dual carriageway hairpinning/switch backing up and then down a mountain range for 90 minutes. Carmen knows the road. Its majestic. That Mini hummed, probably took 6 months off the life expectancy of the tyres and brakes 😂

We parked out side the double padlocked gates to the reserve.

Rob says -

“Jo warned me you drove quick but wow that was some drive. Just getting my voice back. But boy that was quick bru! Safe but always now now, never just now! . Hmmm. Jo said she was going to ask them to padlock the gates, its two miles walk to the chalets. She said to tell you there are leopards everywhere but also a mother with cubs in the area. And snakes”

- She would. Look I can squeeze through that gap in the gates. I’ll give you a bunk up so you climb over. Come on!

We’re in the boonies in 2008 - no phone signal obvs.

We walked the 2 miles on the gravel road. Found Jo sitting on a rock outside the camp smoking a cigarette.

“So predictable Nick. Saw the lights when you arrived”
- Didn’t fancy using one of those golf buggies to pick me up?
“Exercise will have done you good after that long flight. Win the quiz?”

Those Minis are huge fun.

🤣

Shed’s Chevvy Cruise is worth bank! I see him in it rolling round SoCal often.

😂

everyone got a mild bump in feed today.

two are still in total snooze land, and the others are eager to grow. i hope the laggard gals find the res soon. i didn't bump the nutes as far as i wanted and have to decide if i'm gonna hold here or bump it again next feed.

other than that - yawn :p

fun fact : you can use the turbo and superchargers off the new bmw mini engines on the old minis with a little modding. they make the older ones much faster than the newer models. the old ones have a far better weight to power ratio.

they used a lot of the same tooling. it's a lot harder to get at stuff on the newer ones as they have more underhood systems.

new feeding day pics featuring almost 40% less ass cheeks :cheesygrinsmiley:

kept to the same feed level, but am bumping up next two in a row. they are a touch more green than the pic, the bigger leaves are darkening pretty quick. i think i can push them a bit though. the smaller plants won't burn now if i do.

check out this fairly common genetic oddity on this gelato...

full

oooh ... monster leaves ..:p

the big fat indica looking leaves at the top are supposed to be the first three-blade leaves on the plant. the main blade has instead incorporated all or most of the smaller two that would flank the bottom.

sometimes it will repeat further on leaves with more blades, looking even wilder. usually you only see it at this stage if it appears.

other than that they are ok. i'm gonna start pushing nutes more. the bigger gals ate everything in the cup, i expected there to be more left, and i wanna get more colour in them faster now.

i could add a touch of calmag for the extra n to green them, but i think i need to carry it with the rest of the nutes on board for now.

happy mom's day, go show some love and make her some edibles now. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Damn, I was just here for the ass cheeks.

i'll go get my camera ... gotta warn ya, the schvartz in my shorts indicates it may not be the most sexy ..

Damn, I was just here for the ass cheeks. But since the plants are looking good I'll stick around I guess...
Teddy sent in the inspectors. Closed down the floor show and the code violations in the kitchen, half the chefs were missing pants and just wearing thongs I heard!

😂

girls were absolutely starving today. even the small ones had chewed through most of their res.

i don't mind if they sit through a dry cycle in hempy. i could keep it constant wet like coco or sips, but like how they respond to a little hardship. weed likes to work for a living, it rewards in potency.

everyone got a bump in feed today to keep up.

full

the new stuff is coming in green already so i'm holding at this level for 1 more feed, then another bump. everyone has roots at the drain hole now, it's just a matter of time til they firm up some perlite and are ready for the up pot to 5L.

i was too short on the last bump and didn't get a feed in on time either.

full

i knew i was on the lean side, but both gelatos shot past my feed schedule. the acapulco were fine. they don't eat as much as the gelato. from here forward i have to feed for the gelato.

i was 24hrs late in a feed and they showed calmag def

full

that was the worst of it. didn't even pale before showing necrotic. i bumped the temp a touch and that probably got it feeding harder, and i've been driving hard under the light. it's already at 75%, but it's raised a touch.

since i've been driving it harder i went to full veg nutes and added a bit of calmag. there is another bump right away i think.

both gelato ate the cots in the last 12 hrs

full

i'm not even bothering with holding at the same level next feed and am bumping up again. i've maybe one or two more feeds before up pot. i may do it early as i have to leave town for a couple days on shows late next wk, and might just put them in the larger pot for the added res.

the bump and calmag should get everyone in line til then. i have to stop feeding thin.

Thought you said stop “feeding them

Nah Cal Mag and plus over the recommended nutes if you’re running the lights at 75%

A man after my heart!

I want to add - this is my entire play book for growing 😅 “Turn it up”

What are the shows? Music/art/dance? “Shows” sound fun?

Ah wait - lights?

Nick

Definitely. It's hard to get ahead once you fall behind when they're young.

i'm not sure what's up with the gelato. i'm gonna burn the acapulco if i go hard at feeding the gelatos. they still look like they could eat, even with the added calmag.

all of them are chewing through the hempy cup res every other day now, so an up pot this wk for sure.

I want to add - this is my entire play book for growing “Turn it up”

i should start tracking ec. my feed levels may be lower than what i'm assuming. it's more likely the gelato feed harder than usual, but i should get ahead of it and find out.

What are the shows? Music/art/dance? “Shows” sound fun?

it's a band .. i think. i didn't ask.

Ah wait - lights?

yes. i can set up audio, but i'm no sound tech.

Cool!

My brother was in a band. Used to get AAA at the gigs (even Glastonbury once!)

Sound guys didn't care - “you reckon you want the vocals up a bit and more to the bass player?” OK,” <shrug>

Light guys? Nah. Not during a show. Before cool to talk to and probably early days of IIP/LAN controlled lights back then.

More serious then the sound guys I reckon!

Nick

generally the production crew are the guys to bring it. some of our clients would call ahead and make requests lol

the guys i work with literally demand that i'm "on the meds" when doing a show :cheesygrinsmiley:

it pays to be a bit laid back but professional. most band members aren't prima donnas, but they want to be presented in the best way and are naturally concerned about that.

i've met more "stars" than i can count. i don't normally recognize them either, so have learned to treat everyone the same. :p

due to our size we mostly catch the talent at either the beginning or the back end of their careers. it's a completely different dynamic than when we work with them at the peak.

guys at the peak get worked like rented donkeys, there's a short window to build a career. when you are a good fit for their production, they'll remain solid with you forever.

both myself, and our 2 top sound techs have been called in to work someone else's rigs, just because the bands liked our work and attitude. those are the best shows. you get to do the fun stuff, and don't have to set up or tear down.

no not at all lol. as a group we're definitely known to be more active when running the show. it takes a lot of attention by all the prod pit crew to keep a show on the rails and rolling hard when it gets going. we don't like to chat outside the crew at those times.

you'd be gobsmacked by how many sound and lighting techs both test in the adhd spectrum.

so i bumped the levels and everyone got a feed today. i upped the amount of cal mag too. they are on full veg nutes plus a tiny bit more.

full

i'm on the old potato phone again so the pics are crap. managed to ditch both my camera and my new phone at the folks place the other day. finally figured out why no one is calling lol

they are doing better but i am concerned about the gelato. not everyone is in the shape i want for up pot.

full

both of the gelato have me on the ropes right now. they don't want to green in and they are chewing through calmag faster than i can add it.

this one is right on the edge but not tipping in to damage yet.

full

the other actually got damage but has bounced back.

full

the newer stuff coming in looks better than the other over all. both have me wondering. i haven't even got to up pot and i am approaching early flower feed levels, yet they look like they want more.

i'm hoping they get stable enough off this last feed to up pot.

the acapulco are almost opposite. they've greened in fantastic, and are likely feeling too much n compared to the gelato.

full

no calmag trouble or anything. there is decent lift but they are on the cusp of too much n, and are all leaning to an indica leaf.

of course one is stunty, and permanently droopy.

full

this thing has been behind and grumpy from seed. i've never seen it lift. i'm thinking it doesn't like how the the gelato have been pressing the nute levels, and it kinda seems like a plant with wet feet to me. it's an oddity in hempy, but it can happen, a bit like sips. i think this one will probably like the up pot to send out fresher roots in drier media.
