BK's Indoor Soil Autos

I'm slacking on my posting! Not much going on. Checked the trichs on the remaining part of the CC today, looks about the same so I'll let it keep going. As I expected the Bruce Banner and Strawberry Pie are still struggling and at best will be runts. The Red Super Skunk looks smallish to me but otherwise fine. I'm going to start something new because I'm going to have plenty of room for another plant.

I've got 3 5gal pots ready to go, they're hopefully growing lots of microbes. A few quick pics and I'm calling it a night.

Strawberry Banana day 21 and she's going to flower soon. I'm not going to top her I don't want to do anything to slow her down even for a day. She's on her 5th node. She looks great, a little droopy at the moment she just got fed.

Have a great night and thanks for visiting!
You have a week yet on the SB, she won't start flower til day 28 or so. She's screaming and begging you to top her. You gonna listen to the plant or you gonna be chickenshit?

   @BubbaKush909, you know I'm just joking, right? I'd top her, but you do what you're comfortable with. But she won't be a 21 day start to flower plant, I promise. 28-30 days.

That sounds good. Looking forward.

Thanks Carmen! I just started a Forbidden Runtz dbl xl from Growers Choice and a Blueberry Glue from Expert Seeds. The BG is GG4 x Blueberry auto, 8-9 wks, 22%. FR is Forbidden Fruit x Runtz, 14 wks, 27% and I can't wait to try growing it. I've got plenty of room. I'll keep the Bruce Banner & Strawberry Pie going but if they make it they'll be tiny.

I was so tired last night I didn't look closely at her, today I did and I think you're right. I see a few pre-pistils but it should be safe so I'm going to do it today. Thanks @Jon!

Nice! No guts no glory, right? Any of the side branches decent candidates? (lol). You will be happy. I have trained several autos out with just a topping where you are and pulling side branches to the sides a little bit, as well as just letting one main cola grow out, and every time without fail, the two colas from the topping beat the one cola you'd have if you didn't in terms of weight/yield. My SBs also stayed lowish like yours. They don't stretch tall very much and stay shortish the whole grow, just fyi.

BK that Blueberry Glue sounds nice!
Thanks Carmen I'm looking forward to growing it, and I like that it should be a pretty quick finisher!

I've been looking at your old journal again, I hope the smoke is as advertised! The deed is done, she just got topped:thumb:

I have a few pics of the Strawberry Banana I just topped. Notice how the new leaves up top are curling downwards? That doesn't look normal to me. I'm just above the max suggested height for the light, about 20". Temps 75-80, RH jumping all over 40-60 . This is about the 3rd set of leaves that have done this, then they straighten out. Other than that she looks great to me, please let me know what you think. Thank you!

Hey BK hope your having a good day my friend.
It looks like it's mostly the upper leaves, usually a sign of a light issue.
Bump it a few inches and see if she recovers
But she looks fantastic. :thumb:

Stay safe

I had a similar issue with the tips bending downward. I don't think its the light even though like Bill said the tops are only effected. I think its slightly over watered. Mine looked like this often after I transplanted before my roots started to fill out the pot.

Good point Mr Costanza :ciao:
Now that I look at the leaves they are slightly puffy, but she is still holding them up proud so?
Maby a touch overwatered aswell.
How is your dry cycle?

I can tell you out of all that bud from the 20 plant grow, the very first I ran out of was the Strawberry Banana. Granted it was around the longest, but I just couldn't stay out of that jar.

I agree with both Bill and Costanza. A bit of overwatering and just a touch too close on the light. Make sure at this point you're letting the pot dry out between waterings. That will build your roots the fastest and take care of any watering issues. The color is spectacular on them, but see how right where the tips curl down the leaf is darker than the rest of it? That says too much water to me. The light might even be fine, since your color and growth is great.

Thanks for your replies guys! I had just watered her, she's only in a 3 gal and the soil doesn't hold water well so it's hard to overwater. She started wilting 2 days ago before I got to her. I'll try raising the light 2" and see how that does.

@Jon do you remember did she 'pray' for you? I rarely see that from her.
Hey @BubbaKush909, not to make you feel bad, but my plants always pray start to finish. Praying is a function of having everything dialed in correctly. Especially your watering. I know I keep saying it, but let the pot dry out ALL THE WAY to bone dry each time you water. Don't water again until it's bone dry. It's hard - you want to water sooner, I know, I get it, but resist the urge and let the pot get all the way dry. You'll see your praying soon enough.

Mine are almost always praying too it's strange this one is doing this. It's the first time I've used a 3gal bag and I guess I've been judging the weight wrong. I'll make sure she's super dry from now on. The lights' at 22" and I think she's looking better today.

I'm hoping the SB looks perfectly normal soon. She'll probably have to be watered tomorrow, I'll watch closely.

Thanks for visiting and have a great night!

Worry not! The SB looks solid. The leaves are great, the growth is on point. She has big fans and they all look very healthy. This is exactly how mine grew, just with a bit of prayer. You will see it soon enough. It's not the be all end all anyway, but it is nice and it is a sign that you have everything in balance.

Thanks @Jon! Since this one was grown in hot soil to begin with I suspect it's got a crappy root structure which is at the heart of my issues. I just got rid of all those big beautiful fan leaves. I figure she'll have enough problems as it is, who knows?

After I chopped the Cream Cookies I literally grabbed the stem, shook it a little, and pulled out the entire root ball with ease, leaving 90% of the soil intact. Calling it a root ball is a stretch, there wasn't a whole lot there. At most a third of what you would expect.

Luckily it seems to be great smoke. It actually smells like vanilla cookies. I want to start another one right now but I don't have the space.

I'm hoping those problems are behind me. This morning I transplanted the Red Super Skunk from her solo cup into her final 5 gal home that I prepped about a week ago. I dusted the hole with Great White before I transplanted her. She had extensive roots, the best I've had at transplant since I started this endeavor.

The Blueberry Glue and Forbidden Runtz XXL both had inch long tap roots this morning and they went into my new babies mix - light warrior, happy frog, myco, frass & bokashi. I'm really anxious to see how it goes.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for all your help, have a great day one and all!

I am quite familiar with the roots you describe, as before I began following @Emilya religiously and watering per her methodology my auto roots were not too dissimilar. That is 100% a function of how you're watering. You should fill those pots with roots no problem, as you know. Sounds like a nice fresh start with the BG and the FR XXL. I am psyched to see how you do. Water gently and as infrequently as possible for now. Just spray them, or draw a little moat with your finger a bit wider than the circumference of the leaves and just water into that moat. As the leaves get wider, your moat gets wider. You will not water to runoff anytime soon, not til they get bigger. Less is more when it comes to making roots. Target the water, let it dry out, repeat and widen your water ring as the plant grows. You'll have a fabulous root ball before you know it. On the way plus side, you managed to pull quite a nice little plant of seemingly high quality out of that little root ball. Which is awesome. So now think like this: if that same plant had roots to the edge of the pot, ie, 3x the roots you have, I would venture to say that your yield would be proportional to your root mass, and you wouldn't be talking about a smallish plant. You got this BK. Just takes some time to develop proper watering discipline, or at least it did for me. Even with the instruction manual right in front of you it's still a skill that has to be developed.

Hey BK hope you are well my friend. :ciao:
Did you remove fan leaves from the little girl in the pic?
And the babies in the bokashi & frass will fly.
Mycro works so much better with that combination.
Hope you put it in your big pots aswell. :thumb:

Hey @Jon! Certainly my watering skills can always improve but I faithfully try to follow @Emilya's instructions. I really think the hot soil hurt them. The grow before this I grew 2 monster autos by my standards, the Gelato and Wedding Cake. Their roots filled the bags, and I got 6 & 5 z's from them. See below I have more lol!

Morning @Bill284! I'm great and hope you are too thank you!

Yes I defoliated her this morning, would you have done it?

And yes I built the 5gal pots in layers just as you described. It's my first time and I'm excited, it's been sitting for about 5 days.

The soil was still quite moist, I watering her in a little and now she's under the lights. I'm guessing it will take her at least a week to empty this pot. Any advice or comments are most welcome.

Have a great day my friends!
