Bassman's Master Kush - Blue Planet Nutes - Grow Stealth LED Grow #3

Re: Bassmans Master Kush, Blue Planet Nutes, GrowStealthLED Grow #3

Hey Bassman, I was gonna say how luscious your plants were looking then I saw the last picture ;-) They will take off now, your plants always look great and your hard work shows. Thanks!

Props for hanging in there through the complications :thumb: I'm sure you will be greatly rewarded for the effort!!!!

Re: Bassmans Master Kush, Blue Planet Nutes, GrowStealthLED Grow #3

Hopefully still room for one more on this awesome journal!
Love seeing the progression you've made throughout your journals! mastering your techniques! They just look amazing!
I'm curious about what you're expecting to yield from these ladies, noting the intensive defoliation techniques, fimming, and bending?
What do you think about the 2l hempy madness running crazy in the journals? Doing the math on your space at 4 x4 could easily yield 72 Oz over 60 days.
Please keep the great pics coming too! thanks.:bravo:

Thanks AK1, Dog, 4T4a, BPN Corey, SB, MsMe.

@Tweed, You're always welcome to jump in! I don't know what to expect out of these Master Kush. First time growing this strain. And since I'm still learning and feel like a newby at it, who knows? Hopefully over 20 oz. I know 40 - 60oz is possible using this technique. But I don't have enough light or experience to make that happen. Regardless, the yield should be pretty decent considering it's only 4 plants.

I would be insanely out of compliance if I did 2L Hempy. I'm not willing to take the chance. Besides, I've killed every plant I ever had in soil. And I don't want to deal with the mess of soil indoors. I'm highly unorganized and messy as it is.

YES, another reason I don't want to do soil. I'd have the shit all over the house and my wife would kick my ass lol

Thanks for joining in on the fun SA. Nice to hear the thumbs up on MK too. Have you grown this before?

Re: Bassmans Master Kush, Blue Planet Nutes, GrowStealthLED Grow #3

minor update.

After adding the humidifier, I've only been able to get the humidity to about 40%. Got it up to 47% for a short time while the tent was closed up except for maybe 8" of door zipper and the door to the room was closed too. Unfortunately the temps climbed to 88f as well.

Cracking the door to the room lowers temp and humidity.

It's tough to get the humidity up in this dry climate. Kinda funny too because we have 29% RH humidity today with possible rain later on. That's kinda high for the desert. I added one wet washcloth rolled up like a cigar, that will help. I may throw another one in there.

On another note...gawd I'm so lazy. I REALLY need to figure out a reflective base at the bucket height for the tent. I have tons of panda film. A whole roll hardly used. But how to set it and easily also be able to lift the bucket lids to check roots, nutrient, drain, etc.

I have zip carpentry skills. But I do have that pvc frame within the tent to prevent tent suck and have a spot to tie off strings for scrog type support once it gets to that point.

This is actually fairly important to come up with a way to do too. Being able to reflect back up rather than allowing light to just pass through to zero value has a big benefit to this type of grow.

This is basically what I need it to look like. It's a small pic, but should still give a decent idea.

Hey Bass for now cut ya a few pieces of panda paper to cover your net pots and the hydratron.
I covered mine made a nice reflective difference and now my hydratron seems to stay a little damper and not drying out on the top any more.:thumb:

And dude Myself I'm ether going to paint my floor or just roll some panda paper out. That picture makes things look like there a little hard to get to and maintain. I want simplicity myself and the floor looks good enough for me.
just don't get it wet, it would be like a slip and slide.

And to try to get my RH up I am bubbling out all my city water in my veg room and it still will only max at 40 with the door closed.

Re: Bassmans Master Kush, Blue Planet Nutes, GrowStealthLED Grow #3

For the RH, I remember seeing a photo of a bath towel soaking wet hanging over a 5 gal bucket with a fan blowing on it into the tent... that and cups of water and those cigars you're making.

I've got the opposite problem, mine goes from 50-80...

I really like the bubble stuff with reflective material on it... a radiant heat barrier with bubble in between two layers--keeps the res cooler and if you just cut a long slit toward the back wall from your plants. Since they're in line, you can just slide the reflector out for maintenance. It won't be 100% reflective because of the slits, but you'll capture tons of light. It's structurally strong enough to just sit on the pots without extra support. I wrap the res's in it too to keep the cold water cold and the hot air away from it, and the light out of the res.

Not sure what panda film is, sorry. Looks good, but flimsy for what I described.

I've thought of trying to design some sort of access port into the side of the res for root checks etc.. maybe a clear window that opens? It's such a pain to lift the lids and I feel like I'm damaging roots every time I do it. Making that any harder than it is would be bad.

hope my noob ramble made some sense and can help in some way :)

Re: Bassmans Master Kush, Blue Planet Nutes, GrowStealthLED Grow #3

covering the buckets isnt really an issue. easy to do when I'm not too lazy. But that's a pretty minimal space for bottom reflection. I need to figure this out still.

I don't mind popping the lids at all. It won't ever hurt the roots. I mainly only pop the main res lid. Only occasionally taking a look at the plants roots. And I am rotating the girls 1/4 - 1/2 turn in the bucket semi regularly now in the tent so the light exposure is more evened out.

Re: Bassmans Master Kush, Blue Planet Nutes, GrowStealthLED Grow #3

Update:

Day 53 Veg

It isnt full on 53 days of veg but about that from seedling.

Today I made up a simple panda reflective at top of buckets. Took all of 10 mins. Nothing great, but it will help reflect up into lower buds. At least the light isnt totally lost to the floor 12" below.

As you can see they are leafing up nicely just 5 days or so after a major stripping. The front right girl is really doing great and spreading nicely.

The back right girl is healthy but skinny.

The two on the left have some promise to get wide during stretch I think.

Edit: Got RH to 60% by turning off exh fan. When it warms up today I'll turn on AC and exhaust to get temp down, then turn off fan for a bit.

I'm probably going to give them 36-48 hrs of dark starting tomorrow and flip the switch and change out to 50/50 bloom/veg nutrient mix. Then next week switch again to bloom mix at about 75-80%.

In the meantime, I'm going to buy some more seeds. No clones off these girls sadly. Just too small I think. And I want to get the lower branches to stretch up and out and see how they do. So I'm not sure yet on the strain. But I may go with Kosher Kush.

Is there something you don't like about Master Kush? A slow vegger perhaps?

It does seem a bit slow but I feel like that's more because of my defoliation. I don't have any experience with Master Kush yet, so I can't really judge. But in the back of my mind what's going on is thoughts that the vendor is not selling many of the more preferred strains the canna public wants. Having had only medium good results with the AK48 in terms of quality, I'm considering trying another vendor. I want to find 1-2 great strains and stick with them. So I'm going to try some high end kinda expensive seeds from another supplier. If I'm not happy with the results of the MK and the next strain then I'll know it's more me than them.

Two things are stuck in the back of my mind on the quality issue in terms of if it's me. Light and nutrient. When I speak of nutrient I am thinking two things also which will be addressed this grow. 1) Did I feed too lite for too long in flower? 2) was my choice and mix of Ginormous bloom booster a bad choice?

In terms of light, I am starting to question if the style of my growing is not conducive to LED with big plants like I have to grow due to plant limitations. Only 4 in flower are allowed in NV and I've pushed that already and really don't want to continue to do so. It wouldnt even make sense to grow 4 little hempy girls for 10-12 weeks.

Re: Bassmans Master Kush, Blue Planet Nutes, GrowStealthLED Grow #3

As far as the vender I have had stellar results with AK48. Extremely powerful smoke. I use Jacks hydro/Calnit for a nute or OC+ adding ironite and epsom salts with very good results. I run a 400 watt HPS vertically and when I start up again I may go to a 6oo watter. I have found that in order to get the most from a strain you have to run it a couple of times. I am also on the fence about LED lights and have been following your journal to soak up some info. I ordered Master Kush a while back and may run it next fall, it is supposed to be a good yielder and fine smoke. I have not vegged cuttings more than three weeks after rooting before putting them in flower and would expect seed plants at 53 days to be huge by then. I mean trees practically. I grow for my use only and really can't smoke all of what a 400 watt HPS yields for me. However heat is a battle I won't try to win, running AC to fight heat is just too costly so summer is for fishing, swimming, cold beer and scheming on how I am going to do my first run in the fall. High humidity is a huge problem in my neck of the woods also.

Ya know Bass it's the LED's bro. They just can't do the job up to par with the T5's or HID's. I bet they can't even do the job of T8's. They just don't have the penetrating power.
I wanted so bad to run LED's when I 1st started researching. They use less energy, create less heat ,although you may need a heater during winter defeating the energy savings.
I researched Googled and Youtubed and pretty much any1 that wasn't associated with the LED product in question reported poor results. Meaning you could tell some of the videos were sponsored by the LED Corp/producer.

I have some some seeds I just germed as soon as I get them under the t5's in a couple weeks we shall see how much growth in 4 weeks I get
