For seedlings, in veg I start defoliation when they have developed 4-5 nodes. Prefer 5 but if large, I may do it at 4. Really the same for clones too, if they have developed well.
As for the supper cropping, it all depends on the size. I'm trying to spread them out to open up the middle and get secondaries to lead out. I want short-fat girls. 28" wide or more. At issue for me is my veg closet isnt wide enough to do it right, so I have to address some of this widening when they get into my tent to flip to flower. Depending on size, I may wait till stretch is over, or bend them at any time really. I will even bend them 3-4 weeks from finish if I need to get better penetration and lower the light. But that late, they usually need support as they often won't knuckle up. But the flowers will do fine.
