Bassman's Master Kush - Blue Planet Nutes - Grow Stealth LED Grow #3

My Kosher Kush seedlings are sprouted nicely and ready to be transferred from root riot tray to 5 gal buckets. They will veg under 4 foot T5-HO four bulb unit. I'll probably get them moved in today or tomorrow. I'll post a pic or two and call that day 1 when I do.

Looking great! I am glad to see others using LED with great success. I will be following … thanks for posting.

wow buddy they are hugeomongous! and look perfect! i excited to see them flower! great job thus far, i bet a 400 to a 600 wall hps would work if you were careful, i learned recently that cfl puts out plenty of heat, when i switched from a buttload of cfls to a 400 hps my room temp went down! the idea is i had about 21 mini ballasts and bulbs creating heat, when i switched to only the 1 bulb in the room, it got better, and weight, and quality of the bud went way way up too,,some thinks to ponder,, love this grow!

Wow, the CFL's put out more heat than a HPS? 21x how many watt CFL? (not equiv)

Yea BID, I would love to add about 400w of more efficient light. Just not in the cards atm.

Update on the way. :thumb:

Update:

Day 20 in Flower, day 29 in 12/12

Been taking fans off all week. Some here, some there, just trying to thin it and being careful to make sure if attached to new flower pistils, leaves are developed in those pistils, even if small. Soon, I'll be snipping anything with a stem.

Whats kinda fun and interesting is as I move branches to try to get better views, I'll see a big fan I didnt notice before, yank that, then 2 more are exposed that should be pulled. After a few mins I've got 30-40 plucked leaves and I just opened up a whole big area in the grow to more light.

Girls are drinking 2-3 gals per day basically. I'm keeping ppm in the 1100-1250 range or 2.2 - 2.5 e.c. I think 2.5 is a bit high but it's been going down rather quickly.

PH has actually been in the low range. It's hit as low as 5.2, and I've added small amounts of ph up a few times.

Temps are good. 73f at night, up to 82 with lights on, but mostly steady at 79.

RH is a little low. 29% to 35%. I wish I had a cure but if I turn off the exh fan to raise the RH, the temps will climb to 85+. Except at night.

Flowers and sugar leaves are starting to frost! Trichs are developing. I can feel my fingers getting a little sticky as I pluck.

On to some pics.

Looking great Bass! Very nice trichome development going on, sugary leaves and all. Top notch health there. Waxy leaves, nice light green stems :bravo:

I wouldn't give your humidity another thought, that's not a bad range. Feel lucky actually...removing humidity is expensive!

Keep up the great work!

Big surprise. Tomorrow, more will be revealed!

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Well, the surprise is, I bit the bullet. Softly.

I've not been satisfied with the amount of light. I have felt for some time I need more, and as you all know, I tried adding cfl wattage in the corners. But in reality, they were probably a waste of $200. Mostly because they don't reach far enough of course. They help the buds right in front of them very well, but beyond that it seems minimal.

So I made the decision to add HPS. I went 400 watts. Lumatek ballast, Ushio HPS bulb, Solar max 6" hood. With ducting, a small inline fan, and other accessories I blew through $500 pretty fast.

I didn't pull the led. It's got the back half of the tent, hps in the front half. I have no idea how long I'm going to run like this, but I know neither light will work for the entire tent when I flower them this big in sq footage. Both combined cover it well it seems though.

I did immediately see a visual difference in penetration. I don't know if that will relate to better lower - mid bud growth, but we'll see.

Here's what the tent looks like now. Update on plants with pics to follow.

Mini update:

Day 22 in Flower, day 30 in 12/12

Yesterday the hps went in. It's been almost 24 hrs, or two 1/2 shifts of lights on for both led and 400w hps.

This morning I did some more plucking of fans. I'm now starting to save fans that are sticky for dry ice hash later. Only the best ones that I pluck are being saved presently.

PH has been running low for a while now. 5.4 or so. I'm keeping an eye on it and will probably bump it up a bit.

PPM is still running in the 1130 area (.500 conv) pretty consistently. I have been adding about 2 gals per day of straight ro water, let it mix up well through recirculation for an hour or more. It usually comes back in the 900's, so I take about 1.5 qt's out, mix up 1 gals worth of nutrient additives, then pour it back in to the res. Sometimes it hits 1200+ ppm but within 24 hrs it's back down. I still think I'm over feeding them, but not burning them. Probably just wasting a bit of BPN nutrients.

Overall, I'm happy with this Master Kush grow. As you can see from some of the pics there are going to be some very nice buds from the looks of it. And I think the trich development is pretty good for this stage. Chime in with your thoughts on this!

I have made a few more bends as well. I think I'm still going to have to figure out where the hell to bend a few tops. But I'll wait a few days to see how the light change works out.

I'm also going to back off 15 or 30 more mins of lights on. I think I'm at 11.5 hrs on, but can't recall, I'll have to look at the timer. Originally I planned on taking 15 mins off per week of the lights on schedule. /shrug

Here's some early bud development:

NIce! Some of those hairs are so long... and some of the trichs are so pokey they look like cactus fir.

I think you'll like the boost from the extra light... why didn't you go for another LED? Sounds like you ended up spending about the same?

Dude u will be much happier with the 400 and yes you will want to leave more mid buds on and lower growth. I bet that led ends up in fleebay and another 400 goes in. LED just dont have the penetrating power, nothing does compare to the hps.
Man my 1000w cuts through everything. my new plants have so much growth.

about time :thumb:

And Bass. I thought LED are cooler. you should have that thing inches from your tops, unless it burns them :peace: I run my 1000w 18"

T5's for veg and HPS for flowering
