Basement Dweller's Acapolo Gold 2010

Morning BD great news about your little bambino! They sure do grow fast, you ain't seen nothing yet :)

I'm still waiting for my pH meter to arrive, and I'm not exactly sure why, but I've read a thousand times on here that you should not test or store your pen in RO/distilled water. That is pure water, it has no pH, and when the meter tries to read it bad things happen.

Also everyone I know stores their pen in solution, usually the 7. Just pour a little bit in the cap.

Good luck papa!

Looking good so far!!! I use ebb and flow with hydroton. I am currently flooding 5 times a day, for 15 minutes each cycle, but I am about 6 weeks into flower. For your plants, I would recommend 2-3 waterings per day until you hit flower. My flood line and drain line are both running 1/2". I have not had any significant flooding issues, other than when the roots of one plant grew into the drain line!! But this was a design oversight; next grow I will be running a larger drain line. You have the right idea with the 3/4". Keep up the good work man!!!

:rollit:

Hi Smokey, I followed your thread and hash assassins DIY thread to make my flood tray. Gonna set her up to night and start flooding twice daily till i see how wet the 4" will get the roots are starting to come out the bottoms heavily :) I am gonna drill the 2nd drain after i see how full it gets but having 2 drains will give me a back up but i want to make sure the water gets high enough to soak the whole block and get all the hydroton wet. The bonticare set i got came with 1/2 IN & 3/4 out as a set.

I think its more dont store the probes in the ro water as it can deteriate the tips. I ve always tested my distilled to set at 5.5 and i clean wkly as well as cal wkly as i never want to wrongly set my ph off. Not sure of ro water having a 7 always either ? The bottles i get come at 5 mainly. ?? I have storage solution i use to keep them in, hanna makes it prob is just 7.0 and they charge just as much so it could be ??

well i got the tray set up and first run looked good as the drain works better then the in but i am gonna add the second drain. Is it normal to have a 1" or so of standing in the tray when the pump is off ? i guess my pump doesnt drain well i guess i will run a air stone or two in the tray as well as 6 air stones in the resv. Its getting tight in the new room now i will post some pics soon :)

Hay BD, sounds like things are coming together... for garden, baby BD and mom. Great!

It's my understanding on distilled h2o and pH pens, and like you said, just don't leave the pen with distilled water on it. I use a lot of dehumidifier water in the summer, which is distilled, and test my nute mixes. I just rinse off the meter with tap water, and store it with a little 4 in the cap.

Thanks for confirming that for me :) I was thinking i may be doing my probe a disservice :) i ve read that people were having probe issues with hanna and i was worried when i bought it, but the reviews were wrong :) thankfully :) I think every meter company has different suggestions for storing the probes in and keep with what they say mine is stored in the hanna solution and it reads 7.o but i cant say for sure its 7 test solution ??

Well I got 2 of 4 into the tray last night and got some of the plumbing done but still more work to do. I got it set to flood twice a day till i can switch over to 12/12 this is my last week of veg for them and they are looking to be short stocky bushes :) Got some shut offs for the 1/2" pump line so i can add a TEE in line and flip the fill OFF and open the drain and plumb a line to the waste drain. So no more pain in the arse bucket changes. What a royal pain in the arse process that was. Open the bucket lid with a 3' plant being held by clay balls and some plastic. Drop the bilge pump, Pump the old nutes into a spare bucket, Then move the pump, to another spare bucket, which is holding the new nutes, Pump it into the bubble/r-dwc bucket, Close the lid, attach air lines and make sure the drip lines are in the proper place :) SO you dont drain the new nutes on to the floor :( Boy am i glad i went to the tray set up. I am a tad concerned about having 4 root systems in one tray ?? Also got 1 ? do i remove the 4" block covers ?? I plan to cover the whole block with hydroton so the light wont hurt the roots, but i am unsure of the process ? Oh sorry didnt have enough time to snap pics yesterday so i will do tonight :) OH and BC its 4-1 (april fools) and you know how people like to have fun with it, I THOUGHT FOR SURE THE NEWS MAN WAS PULLING A FAST ONE WHEN HE SAID 4-8" OF SNOW BUT HE WASNT :) TGIF

Sorry for not posting pics yet. I am still tiring to get the room set up with the tray and get the lighting finalized. Still got to get my ducting finalized and also need to fabricate a second mountain air box. Got my 2nd and 3rd thermostats for my 2nd light and my can fan. Got the lights set to heat till 88 and the can fan to come on @ 85 so hopefully i ll never hit 88. These LUX are neat thermostats with the outlet on the front of them. Basically i have them inline between the timer and the ballasts. So if my temps ever get to hot the stats will prevent the light from being on past 88 and causing heat stroke. ( i guess not ideal for flowering as it may cut light time down ??) I am still planning to get a CAP vsc-dne, it a variable speed controller. I ve herd they work well :) ok pic will be here tomorrow :)

finally the pic update you been waiting for :)

Very busy Horse :) hope it all waorks out, still have a long list to work on main priority is getting water filter set up and drainage so i can flip switch and pump out the resv and open some valves and refill add nutes. well i hope it works out well. Thats just about 2 bags of hygroton and i still not covering the blocks and those block covers they sell are junk well the ones i got any how i wanted hard 4" covers but got some flimsy plastic bag stuff, with a little note that reads if you use air circulation use pins to hold the cover down :/ ?? really ?? As you all can see i am and the end of my space. goona lst the shite of of the girls in the tray and get my 150s over them and get the other 4 under the 6 some how ?? and fire it all up by friday. Figure i have wasted enough time and i dont have ac hooked up nor do i think i can so time crunch is on. I hope i get 2 per so i can carry my self through a summer shut down ??

Whoa BD, sounds like a lot to do... but you can eat an elephant a bite at a time ;)

:goodluck:

Hey BD, horse is right about eating elephants.. Mmmm yummy. Got an idea you might want to try, instead of those flimsy cover, go to your local grocery and get the small styrofoam plates. U can get a bunch for cheap, use a knife, cut hole in center, make slit from center to outside and slide over grow block. Well good luck getting that elephant done ;) looks good in the room, it's always nice to have a good setup running

I agree BD it's looking great! Looks like your one girl is bumping her head on the ceiling... ouch!

ONE BITE @ a time, I ll be here all year. Well i got some work done. I hate fishing wiring and tubing :( Spent over an hr trying to get the wire n tubing up through my wall. Must have bumped every other wire, duct, spiderweb on the way and every time i was close the dam wire would come off my tape :( then trying to find the fish at the bottom of my wall what a bear you cable runners have. So since we had some pretty warm weather 83 my room off got warm :( so had to rig up my intake blower and run fresh air in. So 1 4" intake 1 more 6" to go. got one wire routed still have yet to get my tubing up there but i plan to rig up the ro filter and get my drains run. Hoping i will get done by wed as i don't want the resv sitting to long. Had to move the chiller in and route some tubing to my resv. My resv got up to 72 and i try and keep my resy 65 max. Well i flipped the switch :) were onto flower timing, My girls have been getting transitional nute for at least 2 wks already and i was sick of watching my 600 just sit there looking pretty. So still left to do is

1 run water line in
2 run drain / tap ro drain to drain
3 run 6" intake
4 run 6" outlet/ install can fan /install air scrubber
5 install/ hang the 150s in over the flood tray
6 run another beefy wire(10g) to have all my ballasts its only 900watts but i would prefer to be on the safe side :) Well i think thats it, well you know how that goes once i finish this list, i will have to start trimming and rearranging things and god only knows but the list will be as long next wk as it was last wk :) God i love growing :) Hope all is well here in 420 land PICS to follow :)

1 run water line in- COMPLETED
2 run drain / tap ro drain to drain- RO DRAIN IS COMPLETE/ RESV DRAIN STILL NEEDED
3 run 6" intake
4 run 6" outlet/ install can fan /install air scrubber
5 install/ hang the 150s in over the flood tray- COMPLETE

Well some of the list is completed, some still needs work. Got my ro installed :) So stoked to have running RO h20, I would recomend my system to any one who spends $ on ro h20. Wish i would have gotten it in the beginning. Now i need to attach a secondary tank or resv so i can max out on my output per day. My system can do 100gpd but my tank is a small 3.2g :( ??? seems stupid they would do this, I could easily use 3.2g cooking pasta and corn on the cob guess this is the difference between the ro systems for your kitchen VS a garden merlin system that costs twice as much ?? Any how i love it hope the filters hold up through this harvest, fingers crossed. I take some pic tonight :)

well little time for an update :) but i got some pics :) well not bad for a couple wks :) went 12/12 on the 5th i think and here they are yesterday and some pics of my friends looking for food. I found a mite last wk and i ma gonna spend 20 every month and release half at a time. since i got a sealed room, the ladybug have stuck around had quite a few drop dead. i ordered 1500 and who the f can count them things to know ur getting that but had about 50 or so DOA and the rest went had a drink at first then yesterday am i got over and they were all over my plants working so i sprayed them first and then i soaked some paper towel for the slackers in the corners hope fully they will get the idea its better to work and get rewarded for it with the first drink. oh well time to get to work
