Green, I checked my LED plants and the PH was off. I was under 5. I forgot to add. I just noticed this response to Ol Hippy. I think you are spot on!! :thankyou:

Lately I have been doing alot of thinking on how I could. close up the space between my light and the top of my tent....I could gain a 6 to 7 more inches of grow height.

The standard light hooks make the light hang way too low.

I came up with a solution:idea:

I have some old motorcycle tie downs in my garage. I took them inside and sprayed them with disinfectant spray. I tied them around my air intakes and.....voooaalaahh!!! 6 more inches of growing space.

Thats true!!! I was pondering how to get the light closer to the top of the tent frame for over a week!!! :rofl:

Nice job on the tie downs, 6" is quite a bit of space. I wish I had more than 18" total to work with, CFLs are already like 2 inches wide. I am wondering if I am going to have enough room once the buds start filling in. Those buds look great!

Just thinking about your safety though, not sure how hot your hood gets, so better keep an eye on those tie downs so they don't catch fire. Also check to be sure the top of your tent isn't getting too hot. Are those things fire proof or resistant or anything? Never had or used a tent.

Not trying to burst your bubble bro, just thinking about your safety. ;)

Green,

The hood is vented with an intake fan. No worry about fire or heat.

I was more worried about the intake vents holding up the light than anything else. It is a very strong metal reflector, so I really have no worries!! I am like Alfred E Newman!! :wood:

Nute Change Day...

6 Weeks into 12/12.

My LED plants used hardley any nutes all week. So I mixed up a 1000 ppm batch.
Finally the female hairs are noticable.

My HPS plants ate nutes like crazy so I bumped up the nutes to 2000 ppm. I will keep a close eye on the leaves to make sure I do not get a nute burn.

Correction. I stated 6 weeks into 12/12.

I wish... I am only 5 weeks into 12/12. 3 or more weeks to go!!

Acer , We deffinatly agree on that ! as soon as I can chop the led grow wham ! I'll switch to my hps for the NL grow . Nice thread you showed it plain and simple hps kicks ass !! :bravo:

The results don't surprise me at all. As I mentioned a few pages back, to compare LED to HID you really need to go watt for watt. You can't go by the LED marketing BS comparisions.

I didn't mean for this thread to turn out this way.

I started out loving my LED's and my cabinet.

Even though I was told different. I didn't beleive I would run out of room in my cabinet!!

I had no idea I would make an impulse decision and buy a tent and HPS light. But, this is one impulse decision I am glad I made.

This thread was a big learning experience for me!!! :lot-o-toke:

The results don't surprise me either. However, it is almost disgusting how badly my LED's are preforming even with the less wattage. I knew they would be behind alittle. But this is almost riduculous!

My problem with the watt for watt with LED's to be able to compete with HID's. You would loose all the advantages of the LED's efficiency because you would use of the same electricity and also you would have the heat problems with the higher wattage...right?

We know in the future LED's will be much better. We are not there yet.:thankyou:

Scare Dee Cat, Unfortunately the answer is Yes.

My HPS plants will be harvested first. I am hoping to transfer the LED's into the tent for the last stage of thier life so they can get an oportunity to get bigger.:wood:

The LED plants and the HPS plants are the same age. They went into 12/12 on 8/1/10. I incorrectly stated 6 weeks into the 12/12. I am really at 5 weeks into the 12/12.

Acer, I don't think anyone mentioned this yet, but you could add some CFL's to the LED tent as supplemental lighting. The added light would help those buds grow.
