43-1
Excellent work. So I’m a 3 to 1 favorite and you’re 43 to 1? That sounds about accurate. Or did I read the chart wrong?

I tried to tell you but I suppose some folks just won’t get it until they’re shown.

I’ll be more than happy to place a side bet on myself with anyone who is convinced I have no shot.

This is fun as hell. But I’m dead serious about grinding your ass into one of your own Dixie cups. I want to beat you so badly it makes and Co have to take over the growing until you’re done licking your wounds.

Sorry Nick. I ain’t fucking around. And therefore this contest is over already.

Here Nick, I wrote you a haiku:

Nick Hardy and me
A competition for fun
Where I destroy him

Btw @NickHardy - speaking of and Co. - not that I don’t trust you, and that’s why i didn’t think it was necessary to bring this up when we had our rules talk - but you do understand you’re expected to do this grow all by yourself right? No help from and Co (although I have less than zero issue with the lad helping you, lmao). You gotta be a big boy and grow as if you are flying 100% solo as I am. I am not so much as asking my stepdad to lift a finger. This is pure solo wheelchair growing madness. Which I just realized, and this really is gold. Not only are you gonna get squashed, you’re about to get squashed by a guy in a wheelchair. That’s gotta multiply the embarrassment exponentially, no?

I woke up to your attempts at shit talk Nick. Pretty sure I’m awake now.

In all seriousness though @NickHardy - I and I bet others want to know how you keep those Solos from becoming root bound when even flipping them at 30 days you’re in for 90+ mostly. I honestly have been afraid to try that angle for three or four grows in a row I considered it for exactly that reason. So could you share the method? There’s got to be something you intentionally have to do to control that, yes? Or do they just not get rootbound? Serious question. I have exhausted my shit talk for the day cuz it’s grow time.

This is the organic Gorilla Cookies as seen from above in light to show you her actual real life color and such. I dare say so far my soil mix looks like it’s giving me the results I wanted.

Dunno, never happened. I mean I have ideas about why they don't. I don't really know how root bound can ever happen tbh.

AAh that always gets my competitive juices going.

All this typing, Jon, careful your fingers, I saw a lady get a really nasty cut off a keyboard once. Pick up an injury to your digits at your self imposed, marked "critical" (and behind schedule already) training period and it might be the thing that causes the first spinning plate to wobble, before the inevitable catastrophe follows. C'mon buddy - lets get-cha to flower, eh?

Sunday they’re going under the Meijiu.

Lights on for them. Lights out for Jon?

I'm promised the dry trimmed weight for most of my most recent harvest by this time Tuesday. & Co reckons its a 4 dayer... She just trims and will be this grow as well, I really don't have the time for that, no joke. I can probably defol if you like. I promise I will try but work is a bit busy at the moment. Other than that as ever its just me - there's no up potting or anything. I'm locked and loaded, top and move to their final home on Sunday. Think I can manage to move them myself!

A limerick for you. I call it "Microclimate extremes due to high density growing techniques in tents" Catchy, non?

He challenged a man to a grow contest, our man Jon
Convinced he'd show he was the best, he prattled on,
A game for yield with an enthusiast named Nick,
He used all his energy to smack talk like a dick,

Not knowing by veg, his problems had not yet begun...

Cyco Nute Update
72 Hours Post Grow XL Application

The two Gorilla Cookies on Cyco are in week four. We are now three days post the one time Grow XL application on the coco/hydro GC. I had much trepidation about that Grow XL.

It appears to have caused not the slightest bit of burning, crinkling, browning or yellowing, or any other sort of negative response I can find anywhere. Other than a few dots of nute burn from splashing on the very bottom leaves (completely inconsequential) this plant looks glorious. If there is no visible damage in 72 hours there isn’t going to be any.

All I can see that the Grow XL did was give her a maybe 10-15% increase in growth rate. I wouldn’t say it caused her to “stretch.” But it does appear to have given the plant a little boost you can see.

Here are several closeups on the overall plant and different growth. Something would look wrong if the Grow XL were a problem. For this strain at least - nope.

Wow you really are good man. Once again, touché. As woefully uninformed and inaccurate as it is, that was quite good. Bravo. Well played. “Dick” was bit aggressive, but I’ll let it slide and wait and watch your little grow. We will know soon enough. Meiju. 🤣🤣. Vs the G8 C3 Enhanced Spectrum and 2 Viparspectra XS 1500 Pros?

Sorry, couldn’t stop hitting that emoji on that one.

Reality: my 980 watts destroy your 1000. It’s not even close. It’s a vast ocean.

So far I have 1200w of light. Maybe a bit more later.

The thing with lights, you might get some fancy lense type stuff going on but basically they’re commodity goods.

Aluminium bars with generally up to 5 types of diodes

White cool - 5000k is great
White Warm - 3000k ditto
Reds x 2 near and far.
UV - A and B

For white and red Samsung LM301H and Osram/Epistar are generally held to be the best along with Meanwell and Sosen Drivers. The density of LEDs and the bin numbers (best ones come of the printer better, the edge prints less good lower bin numbers) are the edges you’re looking for. Aluminium bars are aluminium bars. Mine are purple with orange flashes. Very che che..

So I have all of those - their marketing literature for the lights says “top bin components” because I wrote it for them. But ultimately - its aluminium bars with some lights stuck on them. I like mine plenty. Especially after the performance it turned in recently.

Root bound? In coco? Probably you’re not watering enough, only way I can think? Baby, 16oz solo SIPs can do it I think but that’s a bit extreme.

What I’m interested in is how your grow style does when you run up against the climate that your plants create. The more plants in the space they rule the space. Transpiration of 9 different plants of different sizes does some funny things - I’m very interested to see how it goes for you. With your pot sizes I’d probably go an 8 plant setup - a donut shape. O shape 🍩 - no plant in the middle of the light footprint. I know you have some little AC unit but my AC guy came round and said my mid sized 9000BTU was too small. So we’re upgrading the setup over the weekend. Doubling it.

Anyway, I offered you donuts!

You’re welcome! 🤣

Nick

PS - these dates look good for me, i’m meant to be in England in July. I could hop over for two nights or something not sure about & Co and L if they don't come I can fly biz 😂

They’re on me since I’m in the hole with you after you trounced me twice in MOTM 😂
Trounced? I reckoned they were just scraping the barrel and I got lucky

Touché. Nick I have many times managed the environmental reality in this tent with a more filled space than this more than twice. I have backups upon backups. I live in Florida. Environmental control for me I do in my sleep. But yes, I encourage you to watch and learn.

I've been absent since Sunday as I have had very busy life issues. In playing catch up on the journals I I sub to, I had pages of subs to go through and thought it was safe to leave this journal until I had caught up on others. However, despite your announcement that reporting would be slow due to your own life issues, it has been bizzee this week and I can't catch up. I'll pick up here again.

The grows look well underway. Plants look healthy and thriving. Looking good!

Please will you both consider labelling your photographs. As a reader I am finding it difficult to figure out what plant description fits what plant. For the group shots you could add a labeled schematic for reference, and for individual shots, the strain name and number of days above ground are very helpful to the reader. Otherwise it gets too much to follow imo.
So I’m here now cuz I just came out to check the girls before bed. This is what I saw, and it mesmerized me for a half an hour. Here’s the tent right now and a special closeup on each of the girls.

Up to about nodes 6-7 for the normal sized ones. Laggard in the middle.

Unless something strange happens (I need to do sooner) flip is going to be Tuesday 13th February. Family fishing trip 9-11th. Chop, clean and maintenance Monday.

I have an idea what per plant yield I can get out of the exact same flower setup I’m going to use for these - harvested one today.

Boom.

Nick
Same story, a schematic would help.
Oh that’s huge. Thank you @Wastei!
I was going to suggest chat to Azi, and then I see later he commented anyway. Good stuff.
I don't know what this is anymore. I tried scrolling back to find the post for my comment and I got lost in a sea of green. lol.

That just actually illustrates my point. Without any photo descriptions it's impossible to keep track of where we are. Just put the strain name and number of days above ground!

Grew 1/2” over night
Damn. Looks like your rate of growth genes finally kicked in. I find it extremely interesting that the plant basically behaves the same way no matter what size vessel. Your plants are doing exactly the same thing mine are. Slow start, then at some point in veg a flip gets switched and they zoom for a while before retreating and resting again. Both our grows to my eyes are in that first zoom spot, with mine maybe a little ahead of yours in time. Now it’s starting to be fun for me. I hate the start. But now we have an actual competition. You know I’ll talk shit all day but truth be told I want us to both pull 5+ pounds jarred and trimmed and it to be really close, where we both end up with tons of great weed, I win by half an ounce, and me you and Bill watch the Phils destroy the Red Sox in an interleague game at CBP.
