Autos v. Photos - A 5x5 No Rules Fight for Yield: A Jon & NickHardy Gig

That would be an awesome cross!!! Blue apple dream
In theory you might be right. Idk enough to say anything intelligent but flavor wise at least I think a 50/50 cross would be a winner. There are so many other genetic factors in play that I know zero about I’ll have to take your word for it.

Oh and that name? That’s DEFINITELY a winner.

Wow @MedScientist, thank you so much! I get all this. Okay, so

Turface MVP is by far the Best, cheapest, and easiest medium to use, along with a ph stable, all inclusive nute program like Jacks Hydroponics and Calcium Nitrate made specifically for Cannabis.

You say this with great confidence and conviction. I know what level of skills you have. So I’m intrigued. I’ll check this out and get back to you with questions if that’s alright?
WooHoo! ❤️

I went ahead and started a Journal for my Summer outdoor tent grow. Link in Signature.

Feel free to ask any questions there!

So far it is just copy and paste from recent posts about my system, I just wanted to get it started. But....

Stay tuned!

It appears the Strawberry Banana is a fairly fast finisher. I was surprised to find the buds like this today and the trichs this far along. Still needs some time of course but she is closer than I thought. She’s barely taking in any water now, her pot is still plenty moist after now three days. She has that certain look that says to me, don’t be surprised to find this is hermie on the inside, so idk. I’m afraid to test a bud and find out. I haven’t and still don’t see any signs but they can be easily missed. I have missed them or they’ve been invisible more than once, and we will know soon enough. But if they’re not, cowabunga.

It would be just my well established luck to go out on a hermie with the final plant in this horrid state. And strangely appropriate. So I’m not gonna check and just hope.

Here’s some buds and trichs and the pre dawn sky outside.

Blue Dream Auto

Final trimming the first couple branches which have dried to the point of crispy enough to trim. Still not time to jar, but close enough to show you how they came out and what the final buds look like. I felt I had to trim the buds down and off the stems as soon as they were crispy enough to hold their shapes, just due to their density and in case of bud rot. No bud rot. Absolutely incredible nugs. This plant is among the best overall quality buds I’ve ever produced. And sooooo stinky. Also extremely sticky. Like glue sticky. Stickier than the usual resin I get. Organic sticky. So happy with this one. My best organic effort yet by a mile.

Ok I couldn’t resist. Not only did I take a Strawberry Banana tester, I took a big bud up near the top. It broke down into what you see here plus the bong hit I just did. This bud is not hermie and does not have the slightest hint of a seed in any level of development. Looks like I got non-Jon-luck lucky for a change. Frickin YAAAAAAAAY. The seed looking things you see and I was worried about are nothing more than swelling calyxes. Not seeds. Now my mindset is 100% at ease. She’s close-ish. It’s all gonna work out the way it’s sposedta. And wow is it gonna be a lot of bud. Jeez.

That's some sweet looking bud

That's some sweet looking bud
The stickiness factor is what is making me crazy. Thanks. And it stinks sooooo bad. Damn. Decent yield too for its size. Try it sometime. You’ll love it. It almost grows itself. I didn’t touch this plant one time start to finish, straight up. It’s as easy as it gets.

And, now we saw what it does left to its own devices. Extrapolating training it I think it would rock.

Scenes from Trim Jail

A very simple trim jail. The lightest sentence I’ve gotten in a while. Jah must have been my judge. Painfully easy plant to trim. Even 80% dried for jarring they’re easy. They’ll need at least one more day after this trim, maybe two. Gets quicker when you final trim like this I’ve found. A lot quicker. Least in my available environment. Anyway here’s the box I’m working on. This is what is the closest and most readily trimmed. Maybe 24 to 36 hours from the jar. Which still means my dry here is WAY too fast for my preference. I just can’t affect it at this point. Everything that maybe could is packed. Lmao. And the indoor house environment with the AC on all the time as is necessary now makes the house RH too low for a slow dry. It’s like 53-56% RH here. Low. The stepdad needs it that way or something. To me it’s way too cold and wasteful. And it promotes a very fast dry. Ugh. Oh well. Her terps are screaming at the top of their lungs anyway. Heh. And yeah I know I could do the slow refrigerator thing or any number of things I’m not mentioning here. But no need. It’s done. And I won’t have the time with the Strawberry Banana. Whatever. Here’s what I’m up to.

The last picture with the arrow is pointing to one of now four seeds in total I found on the very outside of the buds. All four were just like this - you could see them. None inside at all. I’m psyched about it. But the arrow points to the remaining seed coat. Pretty solid example of how all four were. And I’m guessing that it’s a cross of Blue Dream x Apple Fritter. It’s the only logical answer to what is it.

Been looking for a larger size plant riser on wheels for quite a while. I have some big metal trays with wheels, and lots of standard 12” risers, but I needed risers to hold larger pots than a ten that had solid wheels. Finally found it. These go from 13-23” wide and hold solid in whatever position you choose. It’s the largest on wheels I’ve found yet.

Strawberry Banana Auto

They almost look like real buds. They’re working it. I’m thinking maybe five to seven days? Also - you’ve seen enough foxtails in this grow to last a lifetime. I know I have. So for this last plant I went conservative on the light pressure. She’s only at around 1150 ppfd. I usually go significantly higher, up to maybe 1300-1350 at times. And as you see, the buds look classical and properly formed, no foxies, like they’re ‘sposedta. Hmm. If I’m not careful I might get taught a lesson I’m highly resistant to. Lmao.

Here’s the state of play. For most of my girls. Lol. 😉

Found a jar finally that was perfect for that big bowl of rainbow kief.

My drummer up north, also a grower of sorts, knows from temple balls. He said let’s make a big one from this jar. It will be blonde and beautiful he says. He is serious. I know nothing about making a temple ball. But we’re gonna do it.

And how does one go about doing that?
Heat and pressure, and lots of handwork. I'm looking forward to the Guinness World Record temple ball making sessions.

And how does one go about doing that?
I have no idea. Drummer says just get a rolling pin and big piece of wax paper and a warm room and start rolling. But I’m waiting til I get up there and have him there. Can’t be that easy.
