Yankeetoker's 2nd Grow Attempt - 2016 - All Advice Welcome!

All these people helping you and no one can help you upload a straight picture? On my Android phone, I have to make sure the Vol + - is at the bottom. Holding the phone horizontal when taking a picture to upload on this forum. Good luck and your plants are looking better. Geez people!

Thanks for the tip! Will take some tonight and post for you guys...lol

Another trick with android phone photos

CROP the picture and save - upload the saved picture.

Good looking out!

Not really. If there were clear instructions then there wouldn't be sideway photos being uploaded daily be new people .It just explains how to upload photos not how to hold a specific device when taking a photo in order for it to load the right way. I read the main sticky and there's a ROUGH explanation on the topic.

Landscape/Sideways Photo Issues - Windows 8 & Android Phones/Tablets/I-Phones Fix

This is a fix for the issues some members are having when loading photos to the site that turn out sideways or in Landscape mode.

If you are using an Android Phone/Tablet/IPhone:

"Problem solved. I figured out that iphones and apparently android phones record their orientation. If you hold an android phone upside down, the picture looks right side up, but the android records the orientation. Then, your system reads that orientation and attempts to correct it. The correct action it to make sure you take your pictures with the volume buttons down"

Almost every category of threads, has a sticky on how to resize/upload pictures. There are some very detailed instructions with pictures.

I believe the above is what you stated to Yankeetoker basically? That should help a lot. :)
Too bad we can't add Radogasts' tip to that thread.

Edit: If you find the information not as useful as it should be, you can send a note in to a moderator or admin with suggestions on improving them. They are always looking to improve things for the better for the members here.

:circle-of-love:

I think the guy in charge of the Gallery should make a sticky thread explaining the way to take and upload pictures on this site. Other forums don't have this problem.

What would be really great maybe is a rotate control on the upload page. Technically complex I'm sure, but takes everything else out of the equation.

Hope 48 hours after transplanting. ..

Bernie 48 hours after watering...

Lexi 48 hours after watering....

They seem to be growing, but still a bit pale...what you guys think?

Lexie's color is looking better - but the other two are too yellow for rapid growth.

In my not really expert opinion, the pH of the water and soil combined may still be too high. - but Hope is only 48 hours after transplanting, so I would check back in 3-4 more days.

Did Bernie get watered with lower pH water this last round? If so, also wait and check in 3-4 more days.

I feel for you. You need more rapid seedling growth to avoid waiting 6 months or more for a harvest.

Overall, your seedlings are doing better than 2 weeks ago. I am watching with great interest. Watching to see the magic when your soil gets dialed in.

Looks like Bernie is able to breathe, and is hooking into the soil better, you can see it in the upward leaf posture. Hope is also doing better, you can see more color on her, and a shine on her leafs that wasn't there before. Those are the things you begin to key in on, so that you know when the plant is liking what you're doing. It takes a few days to see the response, sometimes a week or more. They should be nice and green soon. :Namaste:

Yes, Bernie was soaked (about 20 minutes) and top watered with ph adjusted water with Lexi.

Thanks, man. I at least feel a bit more positive seeing some results. I feel like I'm getting closer to knowing what I'm doing.

Me, too!:thumb:

For pics my fix is to move them to my PC. I then right click on them and select rotate clockwise. Then upload them to 420mag.

For the plants they have that "I don't want to uptake nitrogen" look. Which usually has one of two causes or both.
1. Plants and saucers on cold floor. Even wood over concrete is not enough insulation. The cold temps will lock out the nitrogen.
2. Too much water loving. Plants need to have a wet and dry cycle or the roots will drown and stop taking in nutrients. They take a week or so of strict watering practice to come out of it. Basically make sure the pot is dry before watering again.

It could be the cold temperatures...though the temps in my grow box are typically in the high 60s - high 70s...the temperatures outside have been in the 30s and 40s for a bit.

When I go check on my plants, it is quite chilly, always in 60s/70s in the box. I have a heater in the room when the lights go off.

If the shelf is metal I would put something below the pots to prevent heat flow from the pots to the floor. I use a few layers of foam. Are you waiting to water until the pots are dry on the bottom? What is your water delivery plan?

The shelf is plastic and is "vented", so it is not solid. The pots are sitting on lawn grates on top of plastic containers inside the box to put them closer to the lights.

I originally had the pots on SWICK containers, but have begun waiting until the pots are dry on the bottom and comparing them to a pot filled with dry soil. The last two waterings have consisted of pots being soaked in containers filled with water half way up the side of the pots while top watering at the same time. Plants were then allowed to "dry out" until very little dripping from bottom of pots.

Quick update 2/28 (p.m.)

Bernie with new growth showing on the stem of the plant (look closely in there)....color still not right, but will continue to monitor.

Lexi seems to be really enjoying the lights and seems to be reponding well to watering on Thursday night.

Hope hanging in there since the transplant on Thursday from solo cup with "hot soil" to 1 gallon smart pot with new soil.

Would fish ferts added to next watering help?
