Xlr8's Quest For The Best - 2012

 i just sprayed coffee all over my comp! shrinkage definetly sucks lol....looks like you were right X.all the new growth on my girls is looking healthy so thanks again bro:)

:yahoo: Awesome! Really happy to hear that about your girls, Jon.
:)

Yup, shrinkage sucks!!

It's crazy and a little depressing to see how much a nice fat bud really shrinks up as it dries... What once was a beer can size cola becomes a snickers "fun-size". Well, maybe not that bad, lol.

By the way, why are the little Snickers bars called "fun sized"... Everyone knows the big ones are the real fun size. Okay, so I admit it I'm wanting a Snickers bar right now. Damn, I wish we'd have had some leftover Snickers bars after Halloween.

What were we talking about again?!

Oh yeah, shrinkage sucks.

Thanks for dropping by Wood - Hope you have a great weekend!
gee your acting a little Joe Pechie arent you maybe you should get that snickers bar

hey x ok super frowny face about the CHEESE! :thedoubletake::rip: to my dreams of seeing the legendary XLR8 grow some cheddah,,,*A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR MY DEPARTED DREAM* lol  j/k
heres a strain name for you "XLRIPPED"
vortex hmm interesting..
for the arthritis pain (i suffer greatly from it) i have found chemdog, cream caramel and purple maroc to work really well if that helps the first 2 are higher in cbd ,it seems cbd really helps with arthritis and other pain as im sure you know, im wishing for santa to bring me a cbd strain like harlequin, otto or cannatonic :thumb:

Hi Fish Cake -

Haha, Joe Pesci?! Love it, lol! Whatever happened to him anyway? I liked him in "Goodfellas".

BTW, I've been telling your pickle-barrell joke to everybody I think, gotta say I love your jokes!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks HMG - :)

See my post to Goose also, my goal is to find another strain to help more with the arthritis aches. The Chocolope, and Super Lemon haze have been great sativas for my nerve pain, but I'm wanting to find a good "aches and pains" arthritis relief indica or something to compliment it or even cross with the good sativas - quest for my own best medicine! You and I have a lot in common with our aches I think -- do you have any really good ones that helped with disc/arthritis pain, or nerve pain? Or both? Would love any good suggestions to consider for the future, though it might be a bit before I can buy new seeds...

I have not found anything yet that works for my disc and arthritis pain. The Lemon Lazerlite has helped with the depression and allows me to get out and do some work around the house. I have a few seeds to burn through as well before I get new. My next seeds will probably be from local breeders here in the PNW. :riskybusiness:

Have a great weekend buddy. :Namaste:

Hey there BID! I'm still going to grow that Chedda brotha, just might have to wait another round or so... It is next on the list, and a lock for the future. XLRipped, love it! :high-five:

Pre-98 Bubba is supposed to be pretty high in CBD and I have several seeds of that to "mine" from over time. I'm hopeful that could be a CBD style keeper. I wish I had a Harlequin seed or something to work with, but... ooh it's going on my Santa list, too! You just brightened my day, as now I know exactly what to ask for for X-mas, a few seeds high in CBD. Usually, I let Mrs. X just pick something she thinks is interesting, too. My Pre-98 Bubba seeds (and some Pandora's Box beans from Subcool) were a surprise gift from her - loved the surprise and seeds are an awesome gift I think.

Thanks for the tips on strains, I appreciate that truly. I've got a lot of pain from damaged and continuously irritated nerve roots, too, and found sativas surprisingly more effective for that (for me anyway). Specifically, Chocolope, Super Lemon Haze and OG Kush (interestingly Chemdog being a big part of OG Kush) have been best for it so far. But, that's only a part of it, and I feel like I'm missing exactly what you mention - a CBD rich strain. Ultimately, a good cross of the two might be fun, but I'd settle for one of each at the moment. :)

Thanks for the props, and I promise I'll grow that Cheeeeeese still at some point in the near future! I also want to grow Lucy again, and some more OG Kush. I'm building that next batch in my head, now, and I can already see some things. Lucy, OG Kush, X Cheese, and another of the best from the bunch I'm just starting now perhaps..., or a CBD strain that I get for a X-mas gift from Mrs. X.... Hey, I like that! Lucy, OG Kush, X-Cheese, and X-mas gift seed, perhaps?

OOhhhh, I think I have another plan for the round after next - thanks for your help BID! :high-five:

I cant wait to plant my lucy, I also have a 2046 that is burning a hole in its bag and a afghan kush. sure cant wait for harvest comming:)

I grew a "Lucy" a few rounds back. It was exceptionally good, and still top 5 favorite for me. Off the hook frosty. I can't wait to grow it again. Shoot, now I'm wishing I'd have popped a Lucy, too. Too many strains so little time/space! :)

thats right, doggonit

Maybe I'll have to drop my Chem4 OG seeds next.

I also saw CBD crew has beans in stock at the tude. Harlequin Jo from Gage Green Genetics sounds like it could be worth looking into as well for a possible high cbd strain.

Hey Xlr8,

Very informative journal. Wow! I hope you don't mind me hangin around, I think I can learn a lot from your experiances.

I do have a suggestion for a good strain for arthritis pain. I haven't grown it yet but another grower that I k ow swears by a strain card Dod Bud. I'm planning on getting some. Anyways we are really lucky to have growers that can give so much valuable detail, and I will deffinately follow this one if you don't mind.

Hi Goose!

Haha - hardly a cannabis factory! :) I'm just growing a few at a time for me - at a bit of a leisurely pace. If I was really thinking I'd have popped these weeks ago to have them sexed and clones ready for flower in a couple of weeks. Doh! But, I'm not in a huge hurry and not desperate for the meds at the moment.

I'm going to keep maybe 1 or 2 hydro moms going for the things I've been growing, and mine these next seedlings for a long-term keeper (or two) as well.

Ultimately my goal is to find the best strains I can for my aches and pains and potentially cross a few of them to try to get something unique to my specific pains. I've had best luck with sativas so far as far as for nerve pain, but I have a lot of arthritis pain, too, so I'm looking more into indica and indica hybrids again for something to address those aches better. Ideally, to cross the best indica with best sativa would be interesting project for me. Then, selecting best F1 and cloning it? I'm not sure I have the space or patience to do a whole big breeding project, but that would be a way - with a little/lot of luck - to get to a decent place to clone from perhaps.

So far my long term keepers on the sativa-end are Chocolope, and possibly Super Lemon Haze. It's possible that I have another keeper from one of the unique crosses I have in flower now, too. I'm hoping that the OG Ripper (OG Kush x Jack the Ripper) is another keeper.

I'm all chatty today, lol. I'm glad things are mellowing on the home-front for you. Glad to have you drop by whenever you have the time, but I know how important life and family is outside of here too, so it's just good to see you when you do have a moment!

Hey XL!

Well... I am always impressed by how much you have going every time I check in here! ;)

In terms of a Holy Grail strain...

You really need to look into getting your hands on some of this M.O.N. Harlequin GDB! Based on what you have been looking for, I can say with total confidence that this strain is Da Bomb in that regard! A very hardy and easy to grow/clone strain, and I would venture to say that a male Harlequin would be a great pollen resource to use with some of your crossing!

Just type... Medicinal Organic Nursery into google for their web site. They seem to mainly sell up in the Bay Area, but they do make it down to Central Cal and supply some of our local dispensaries down the mountain from us. Their Blue Cheese is also stellar as you have seen from my many grows of that since last year.

I strongly urge you to pursue getting some seeds from these guys! Every strain of theirs that I have worked with have been amazing! Not a dud in the bunch! ;)

Mind if I ask ya a quick q X?

Do you give seedlings light right away after sewing them in rapid rooters (I dunno if you germinate them in water/paper t or just the RR's)? Kinda hard to word it lol, like after you got a baby taproot and plop it into your cube, do you put them in darkness till they shoot up a bit or just give them light right away?...I put them under three 2' T5's (just ontop of dome) and a 125W cfl (about 2-3 feet away from dome). I started them at 2pm so it might be a little late to take away the light?

Hi UG!

I put them in rapid rooters, then in a humidity dome (no heating pad required) under t5 lights (24/0) right away. I don't use paper towel method anymore. I prefer to put them directly in the rooters to minimize handling and so it can lock itself into the rooter plug appropriately and more quickly. Here's my seed germination method in more detail:

First of all, :thankyou: TG :)

I think that was a typo - did you mean God Bud? I'll have to look into that one, thanks! Oh, and glad to have you subbed. :thumb:

Cool - thanks for the tip Goose. I'll definitely look into those. I agree a Harlequin breeding plant would be Really cool. I love your Blue Cheese - thanks agsin for the tip. My big issue at the moment is I have a lot of seeds already (and not much money). For a bit, i need to mine my iwn seed stash as much as I can - which isn't all bad as they won't last forever. My future wish list does have Harlequin in top 3. Skywalker OG and Kens GDP are probably 1 and 2. Thanks for the great seed ideas! :high-five:

My pleasure XL!

I hear ya about the cost! At least M.O.N. is somewhat reasonable at $40.00 for 6 seeds. Wiz sent me a link to Herbies today which sells Ken's GDP and I was shocked at the prices! $111.00 US for 10 seeds not including postage! :thedoubletake:

I had hoped for a Harlequin male out of my grow this year, but I ended up with all females! Most folks would have been very pleased with that 100% female result, but I had been counting on at least one male so I could cross it with my GDP and my Blue Cheese. Now that I see what a killer strain their Harlequin GDB is, I really want a male plant to use for crossing! I've got another pack of Harlequin seeds standing by for the next time I decide to do a grow, and hopefully I get a male out of that lot.

I really hope that you can get some of that and their Blue Cheese in the future! I have no doubt that you could come up with something special with those quality genetics to build on! :)

GG7, you should try some of the CS on one of your Harlequin females and collect the pollen for breeding. We'll all feel bad for you having all those feminized seeds when you like the males so much! :)
