Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

Hey XL, question:
If you start an auto strain at 18 hours a day, and also have non-auto's in the same area... will it hurt the auto's to turn down to 12 once the auto starts to bud, and leave it there until both the auto and non-auto's finish? Or will it cut down the auto's yield dramatically?

Kind regards

Hi Naph, it shouldn't hurt it any. However, you may lose some yield. I'm not certain whether it would be a lot, but I'd give it a shot if you can't make separate spaces for them or grow them at different times. Maybe someone else has grown an auto with 12 hour bloom schedule and can chime in?

I suspect that light "intensity" (think "more wattage" if indoors) is more critical than light "hours per day", but I haven't tried what you are suggesting so I can only speculate on how much the difference would be for you yield-wise. My preference is to grow autos separately by themselves to avoid the light cycle dilemma altogether, but I understand everyone's situations are unique so please don't think I'm being critical of growing them together.

I hope maybe someone else can give you a better answer. Either way, good luck!

Well, there is alway one that's different....this time it's me.

The last Church I grew I chopped half of it with mostly cloudy trics. Then I let the other half get 40% amber before harvest. Hands down the amber was better in every way. Guess it's a matter of taste and the high I like!

my 60 day wonder was growing with my first nycd and they both went to 12/12 at the same time how much i hurt the yield im not sure
i didnt do any under 18 straight through
but it says the yield on the plant is from 28g to 40 g
i got 28.5 dried and trimmed

Great feedback Chronic. I like that you included the yield range from the breeder - gives an idea that it could have yielded a bit better, but yielded pretty well nonetheless. Nice job and thanks for sharing! + rep

Grow update - Day 26 of Bloom (since photoperiod reduction)

Kinda hard to believe I just did a pretty heavy defoliation 5 days ago! Also, the flower production has hit high gear.

I'm really impressed with how quickly the Chocolope is bulking up. I'm doing something she really likes apparently, as she's been the easiest to please now in both veg and bloom so far. This would be a really pretty plant on it's own as it has really nice shape, and it's already developing those nice spear shaped buds. Oh, and a LOT of them. I'm happy I saved a cut of her when I lost so many plants to the root aphid issue I had earlier in the grow. :)

Super Lemon Haze(s) look like they're almost done stretching, but not quite. She's got this strange behavior that I've seen in veg and with her mom - the closer she gets to a light source, the more she appears to reach "up" for the lights. It's a pain with the mom, because I'd like to keep her as close as I can to the t5's, but she'll just reach out her fans and touch the bulbs if I let her get too close! Both Super Lemon Hazes look like they're praying for light 10" from 800w of new hortilux HPS bulbs. You can tell this is a really Sativa-like phenotype. The funny finger like leaves she gets seem to be genetic, as the moms have done this too, and one of (maybe both?) the plants Greenhouse had in their video did this, too. Definitely something different! I've heard the sativa heavy phenos are pretty amazing, but low yielding. I already can tell they will be absolutely delicious - they smell more like Lemonheads every day. Glad that I have two of 'em! :)

This Deadhead is a "dead" ringer for the mom which I flowered the last run (I have another now too). However, I'm doing a few things differently this time, and I'm curious to see how it impacts the bud development on the Deadhead. She's like my control plant, as the genetics are identical to the last round. For example, I cut back on Cal/Mag, and am reducing the nitrogen she gets. I'm also feeding differently than the last round as far as how frequently and time of day. And, there's newer bulbs. So far the two plants seem to be on an identical track, but it'll get more interesting as time goes on.

The yellowish tints in the pics are from white balance correction. It's a ton better with the correction, but it still leaves a bit of a "yellow" look to the leaves. In person, they're a nice green.

Take my word for it....Chronic's 60 day wonder was excellent smoke!:Namaste:

Looking really nice ... I am seeing the love :cheesygrinsmiley:

X! Great news on the mad growth... they look great!

Hey there Norcaliwood. I got the same exact scope through the mail. I had the same issue. What I did was download microsoft office picture manager. I would download directly from microsoft if possible. Here is a link... Office - Office.com . You should find a free download there. Once downloaded you can change the format to jpg.

Hope this helps.

Hey Norcaliwood, I did get that same scope. If CF's instruction didn't work, I'm just double clicking on the preview image on the right half (after you capture) then once that is all big, just click on the purple disk on the bottom. That opens a save window-- make sure the "save as type" is set to jpeg, not bmp, then save it wherever you want and upload to 420.

My autos sucked under 12/12 but they were shaded too since they were so much smaller than my other plants, among other factors...

Naph, I haven't grown any autos, but don't believe it will hurt the plants to cut down to 12/12, but it will probably effect yield, at least somewhat. If you have a veg area, I'd flower the autos in the veg chamber with your vegging plants under 18-24 hours of light. :goodluck:

Drive bye duck............ Hey XLR glad to hear ya got some Chocolope. Dude I wanna grow some of it myself. Get plant. So you get a scope thru the mail, I did too. Like 200X thing. But I can't get 420 to recognize the format. the scope is a cheapy from china. 20$ I think.QUOTE]

I especially like Closet Farmer's signature that states " The more we grow, the more we know". Absolutely spot on! I believe that every time we start a new grow either from cuttings or seeds, we embark on a totally new adventure. thanks for that. Too many people think that it's easy; toss some seeds in the soil and away you go. they haven't a clue as to what to expect or what to do in the event of a pathogen or insect infestation. It's like I used to see these young kids get a job as a "Carpenter"; thought they knew it all, walking around talking about all this knowledge. The experiences that come from many, many years of learning are what it's about.
I also got a microscope camera, many years ago. It is a USB 1.0 and will not work on my Lap Top (Vista Home Premium) but will work off another, older (XP) computer. I will try that M'soft download. Thank you for that lead/link. I tried to change the format t ".jpg" but it wouldn't stick. i too, am computer illiterate...
