Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

Something altogether different. SOMETIMES it is even converted by the plant into THC. Mainly it is known as an anti-psychotic.

Medically, it has been shown to relieve convulsion, inflammation, anxiety, and nausea, as well as inhibit cancer cell growth. Recent studies have shown cannabidiol to be as effective as atypical antipsychotics in treating schizophrenia. Studies have also shown that it may relieve symptoms of dystonia.

One thing that I believe adds to the confusion a little is that when THC breaks down into CBN it mimics some of the (i think less desirable) effects of CBD.

TAKE SOME CLONES NOW!! Heheh, don't wanna let that strain go, man. Just monster crop, and reveg the clones... I think it'll be worth it.

Hi Jandre -

Everything in there is a clone and I have moms for them all still. Although choco mom is in an upside down airpot and needs repotting... I'm considering retiring the deadhead mom though. I like it a lot, but I am limited on space.

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Hi Paul -

Me too! It's been a few days now, and I haven't seen anything since on the plant or otherwise, so I'm hoping and crossing fingers and I'm :wood:.

Thanks for hoping with me - and great to hear from you! :)

thanks be to God on that! I had a bug infestation once that to this day still perplexes me. They were winged, clear color and their body was only their front 1/2. They layed eggs everywhere, especially on the tops of the leaflets, underside of the reflector at the glass, walls and floor too. Didn't live in my Hydroton but did peruse there. They were nasty but did no damage. At the time I was fighting Spider Mites and this population seemed to be greatly diminished. To this day I haven't been able to identify them and searched frantically thinking I had been the receiver of a miracle. Well, they're all gone now, mites included. If I ever stumble across them again, I'm gonna' get some good close-up pictures and share it here... I may never know if they were predatory and I don't know how I got them. Obviously, I take great care at a nearly sterile environment; believe we all do once we get a bad fungus or mite/Aphid infestation.

Something to consider is this. I have almost always harvested at what I consider is the onset of the degradation stage of the flowering buds. As soon as I see the Amber Trichs start to appear, down they come. Sometimes it'll be selective branches taking them strategically over the course of a week or so. Some people don't like this point of harvest calling it immature but the reason is that I am a Sativa lover and the lowest amount of both CBD and CBN is my goal. I like to get a good medication on and then do stuff, even sit and watch TV without falling immediately into a stupefied sleep. My wife, on the other hand, likes to toke to sleep and uses it like a sleeping pill. I get tremendous munchies, she gets zero, so go figure. My harvest for optimal cerebral effect is definitely worth it, and the buds last longer in storage as they degrade naturally.

I did my Psychology thesis based on the hypothesis that LSD could be used to treat Schizophrenia. My reasoning was based on the fact that one gets opposite effects from certain drugs when administered to little children. Give a 7 year old a depressant drug, and the kid will be up all night, yacking away; the opposite of what the drug is supposed to do. LSD mimics Schizophrenia in "normal" people, so I theorized that by giving it to real Schizophrenics, it'd make them "normal". Believe it or not, I proved my point (as best as one can do in theory) and got an A on it to boot. Never got to do actual clinical trials. It was in 1973 and drugs were frowned upon quite a bit back then.

I was more talking about the Chocolope, I remember how bummed you were that you didn't take clones of her last time you flowered one, and really hoped to get that same pheno again. I'm glad to learn that you have a mother of this one. :cheesygrinsmiley: tootsie roll smell and hints of fudge aftertaste is something that I'd like to try one day.

IMHO, in a Hydro environment, it is best to run as sterile as possible. One bout with pithium is all it takes to hammer this point home. Thank you for helping to confirm this. It adds to the countless people on my list that grow in "underflow" styles that have made the switch to sterile and away from trying to cultivate beneficial microorganisms in hydroponics.

W00t! another convert to 1%-10% amber! Thanks for the input buddy! It is especially best to do for sativas to keep the head effects without the knock-out of CBN.

Also, on the "High CBD" strains like Harlequin I think it is best to harvest at 100% cloudy and shoot for close to 0% amber to get the best medicinal effect of the CBD. Yes it can be a bit sedative, but keeping away form amber triches can greatly counteract this effect and help shift it to a daytime toke.

Drive bye duck............ Hey XLR glad to hear ya got some Chocolope. Dude I wanna grow some of it myself. Get plant. So you get a scope thru the mail, I did too. Like 200X thing. But I can't get 420 to recognize the format. the scope is a cheapy from china. 20$ I think.
I found a pic;

probably wood work just fine but I'm just alittle stuck on stupid with these things. I also seen ya'll talking about harvest time. I look at crystals like fruit. I prefer to harvest when they are as plump as they can be. Once they start to degrade to me is like fruit. Good to see one or two ambers just to know they are as plump as can be. Thats when I cut. But alot of plant's buds mature at different times. And some even continiue to produce young flowers over the older ones. That can make it tricky to figure when to cut. It's just a aquired talent for your personal preferences.

Hey there Norcaliwood. I got the same exact scope through the mail. I had the same issue. What I did was download microsoft office picture manager. I would download directly from microsoft if possible. Here is a link... Office - Office.com . You should find a free download there. Once downloaded you can change the format to jpg.

Hope this helps.

Im thrilled that a lot more people than I like to harvest before there is a lot of amber. I'm finding I like sativas best, but i also like some balance. Neville Schoenmaker, one of the most famous cannabis breeders in the world said of pure sativas something to the effect of... 'People complain that pure sativas have no ceiling, but I think they have no floor'. He felt that really great cannabis should have balance. I'm starting to agree a little in the sense of there are still indica traits that I appreciate and miss if they aren't there. I still prefer a good (mostly) sativa high to a mostly indica one though, considerably. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I agree! :)

Cool thesis - nice job!

Me too, but my last one was the other main pheno which is fruity. Makes me think of fruity pebbles... No real chocolate taste. This one smells identical, and even like fruity pebbles again (at least on the plant but I'm guessing it's the fruity pheno again). As much as I want to experience the chocolate taste, I love the fruity pebbles and will be thrilled to get it back!

Great point Jandre. That's where my beliefs lie now too (minimal amber, trust the genetics to do the work.) :thumb:

:bravo:I too, am a fan of very low amber...Love that you guys are having this discussion....Carry on:Namaste:

I love that more people than I thought prefer not too overdo the amber. Good to see you my friend! :thumb:

I think Surfbuddy got the new scope. I'll get one someday! I'm with you on the plump I think. I go more by that than the actual amber, but I'm careful to use amber as a partial guide so that I don't let them go too late, mostly. I want fat calyx's and receding pistils. Some of it is just "feel" you get after a few grows I think...

Cool scope, great price! :thumb:

Great tip CF!

All is good tonight...

Super Lemon Haze is really smelling like Lemonheads when you rub the leaves! the smell isn't strong so much as distinct. I love it, and I'm so excited to try this strain! Really stretchy and lanky, though. Very Sativa! :yummy:

Chocolope has great size and structure, and really nice bud development already.. If its as good as the last one flavor/high wise it'll be a fo sho keeper. Really nice plant so far. :)

Deadhead is already frosting up, and should yield pretty well again. Should be another trichome explosion like my last DH - cant wait!

My seedlings (new crosses + PE) all look good so far. Curiousity is killing me on these!

Ill post pics In couple days... Happy 4th of July to those in USA!
