Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Heya Deege -

It might work? I don't know for sure, haven't tried it and I couldn't decipher specifically what's in it or how much (maybe I missed that somewhere?). It does say natural plant oils, which probably isn't a bad thing. The SNS 203 that I suggested to you consists of, I believe, Rosemary and Clove oils as the primary bug repellent. And, it's worked well for me in a major houseplant infestation, and a minor cannabis plant one. If you can't get ahold of the Sierra Natual Sciences stuff (or if it's a bit pricey for your budget) you can certainly give it a shot. Might be good stuff! The only ones I can recommend from experience that have worked for me are the SNS 203 and Azamax.

Anybody else familiar with the product Deege is asking about?

I second the AzaMax, that stuff kicks ass if used correctly

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Thanks buddy! I've been blessed with healthy plants lately, for sure. I feel like they do all the work, I just try to give them a nice place to live. :)
You're modest, my humble friend, but you're a champ at this stuff now...The title's yours, soon to be accompanied by another title...Can you say MEMBER OF THE MONTH?:high-five: And well deserved I might add...
I'm happy for you with adding to your space lately, it sounds like you'll have a little more room to spread your wings and do some things you've been itching to do. I feel like you and I have had a similar journey my friend! :high-five:
Thank you, and, agreed:Namaste:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that the Nirvana "weekend whopper' is for Snow White....Seems I remember you having high praise for her...imagine what you could do with her in your current setup....

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

No, I haven't used it before. As far as nutrients and bloom additives it's just the Blue Planet Nutrients 3 part formula, and Blue Planet "Liquid Blue" bloom booster that I use. I've been very happy with them. Have you tried Snow Storm?

Yes I have used it for 1 grow previous to this, and am using it now....IMO, it works, but to what degree I do not know...My flowers seem to be frostier, but that could be strain related to an extent. I'll keep using it and post the results of a side by side some time later this year:MoreNutes:

I found all the Snow Whites I grew to be a little more couchlock than I liked, but it'll always have a special place in my heart. Strong, yummy, hard hitting, but left me a little lethargic always. I don't always enjoy that as much these days. It still is one of my favorites for smell and flavor, and it is a very pretty plant that is extremely easy to grow (very sturdy, stable and adaptable). Easiest plant I've grown, perhaps.

I'd like to get more some day, but there are so many other seeds I'm interested in. I kinda got sick of it, it was often the only "smoke" we'd have for months at a time when I first started growing. Like having pizza every day - you might eventually want a break from it. But, a few years from now, might see myself doing a nostalgia run or maybe my tastes will have swung back around, who knows!

If anyone wants a great plant to grow and likes a hard hitting indica style high with a little Cindy99 trippiness thrown in, it's a real winner. Doesn't get too tall, yield is decent, and is tolerant of growing mistakes and environmental stresses. Out of 7 or so seeds that germinated, only 1 seemed to be a distinctly different pheno from the rest (it had a fair amount of purpling at the end, more trippy high, and it would have been a fantastic keeper had I knew what the hell I was doing...). The rest were like clones in most respects.

First time grower, small space grower, or someone who doesn't want to sweat every grow detail? Perfect plant!!

Now I do kind of want to order more, after talking about it and waxing nostalgic. I want to find the purple one again. It would be cool to grow it with a little more space. Damn. LOL!

Jeez Quix, thanks! I sure appreciate your positivity. This place is a better place thanks to people like you. :thanks:

Pretty close MOTM this month, but I'm flattered and a bit surprised to be right in the mix - win or lose, it's nice to get as much support as I've gotten from you and so many others. I'm still fumbling around figuring this stuff out at times, but I have to confess that I feel in tune with my plants. I feel like I'm connected and can sense what they want sometimes - it's amazing to me, and I never imagined this sort of connection being possible.

It's at this point I should say, haha, that I think I just killed a bunch of clones due to a F-up on my part. So much for in tune, huh? I didn't put the humidity dome on good, and I've started running a dehumidifier not far from the clones to keep RH low as spring has sprung and the RH has been climbing (not the best for the ladies in flower). So, I looked in to find a bunch of clones laying down on the job, low RH, and a pretty sad sight. Sigh. Luckily, these were mostly for learning/practice/skill honing. I learned alright!

Yes I have used it for 1 grow previous to this, and am using it now....IMO, it works, but to what degree I do not know...My flowers seem to be frostier, but that could be strain related to an extent. I'll keep using it and post the results of a side by side some time later this year:MoreNutes:

I'd love that side by side comparison. I really wish I had a better sense for what that sort of product really does and how much impact it has, etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

We all make mistakes Mr. In Tune. :high-five:

More of our learning process. I think attention to detail is the answer. Just like last grow I knew something was wrong, but couldn't ID it until way to late. Experience is a great teacher. I Like you do feel in tune with my girls most of time.....it' that most that bothers me...it has to be all the time.

I've used Ultra Snow Store twice. Once as a spay on and once as food. The results were the same. More snow on the buds. I really couldn't tell it it helped in any other way.

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

I have never seen a budded leaf... Thanks so much for sharing. Great pics! Not only can you grow but you know how to take a great picture too. All pictures are well lit, the proper color, and in perfect focus with just the right depth of field for the shot.

Hi OMM!

Last night, I read your life story start to finish again, (at least the parts you've done so far), and it took me a long time. I was so in to it! I had a dream I was there with you in Greece, and "doubling my money" helping you out! It was a pretty cool dream, and really realistic. Thanks for sharing everthing you do, it's a lot of fun though I know a lot of it brings back difficult memories. Damned RS anyway.

I had clones from 2 different dates in there, and it looks like the more mature ones should make it (they sprang back up) but I'm not sure any of the most recent batch are going to make it. A couple are trying to stand back up, and I trimmed a few more leaves to see if that'll help them spring back to life, but they're most likely done.

I'll probably have to wait on trying something like Snowstorm as finances are as tough as they've probably ever been. Thankfully, I'm pretty stocked up on grow supplies for the most part. Maybe I'll get lucky and win some more nutrients which would really help too. My health stuff is literally ruining me financially, which is such an insult to injury sort of situation, but I'm trying to stay optimistic that it will all eventually get better. Sure doesn't do any good to dwell on the negative! I knew this was a possibility though, and started hoarding supplies in case things got tough, so I'll be okay for a bit.

Please say hi to Jo - sure hope things are still going well between you two, and that you're both feeling well!

Hey thanks, 70's!

The color isn't bad on the flowering plants, but it's not quite ideal either - they still have some residual yellow tint from the HPS lights that I just can't ever seem to completely remove. Thanks for the kudos on the photography though, I do enjoy it a lot. I'm blessed to have a nice camera, which helps a ton. :)

This Jack the Ripper has a bunch of those "bud leaves", as well as several leaves with extra blades in interesting places. It's a really unique plant in many ways. If it produces great smoke/bud, it's a definite keeper. It stacked it's nodes ridiculously tight, and it's stretch is less than any INDICA dom I've grown. This is literally the bushiest plant I've grown. Crazy cool for a Sativa dom plant. Subcool talks about the "short bushy pheno" being the keeper to watch for, and this sure seems like it must be it. :)

At the risk of being repetitive, the smell of this thing is intoxicating!! I keep trying to put my finger on it (Jolly Ranchers maybe?) - no real "pot" smell. YUM!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Hey, XL,my friend!
I just jumped into the last 3 pages, and your plants are looking great. That J.T.R. is amazing! Multiple leaf buds, bushy growth, tight buds. This must be what Subcool is talking about. She definitely goes in the live well. Just make sure the lid is on tight!
:biglaugh:
As far as pest control; I have used Azamax with good results, and also Doktor Doom; which is very easy and affective as well. Doktor Doom is an aerosol spray with .2% pyrethrins.
I have read and found dry conditions increase trich production. My last harvest was trimmed and hung as a whole plant. It actually grew more trichs while drying!
I am hoping your health expenses calm down soon. It's good to know you have a stockpile of grow materials to get you through.

Keep 'em green. Good luck and good health to you, buddy!:thumb: :Namaste:

Hi Tricome -

Yes, the JTR is cool so far, but the proof will be in the pudding. I'm excited nonetheless! I have a nice clone of her that I'll keep as a mom if it turns out as good as I hope it does.

Trying to keep things dry for the flowering plants, but it adds a wrinkle in considering the vegging plants. I'll get it tweaked.

Good to know about Dr. Doom -- it's always great to hear what works from people who've tried it.

Have a great weekend, and thanks again for the well wishes - good to see you out and about! :)

This actually doesn't smell tangy really at all, just sweet like some sort of sweet - I think a gummy worm would best describe it. A red or pink gummy worm maybe? Hint of lemon though, too. Very unique! Definitely no cat piss smell. Some of our favorite weed had a baby poo smell, but somehow it wasn't all that bad of a thing! So hard to explain that, but I guess based on that I know what you mean!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

it sort of had a strong tangy smell to it, ill never forget it, but never had none since and all people sell now is comercial thats been compressed and crap like that and usually tastes harsh, it was a weird smell, really fruity and tangy, i always new what it was by the smell, if someone said they had bought some new weed id smell it and no instantly what it was, not a skunky smell but far from it, a tangy, its hard to explain, but smells are hard to explain to someone else, but it wasnt a gummy worm smell, so dont think it would be the same, id love to get hold of sum, might shop around and see if the strain is still going, but im going back 9 years, a lot of growers prefered it so their was a lot around but where i live now its all import, which im staying away from, hate putting money into peoples pockets that spend it to comit crime or buy weapons with, so thats why ive started this grow, i wonder if i can get hold of some jack flash seeds, ill have a look, i would love a plant of that, id try and keep a mother, or can you keep taking cuttings from cuttings, say i took cuttings from a plant and veg the cutting and flowerd the mother could i then take cuttings from the cutting sort of thing and keep the strain growing that way,

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

I was (haha AM) medicated and really into the idea of taking some pics tonight, just before lights on so that I could capture some shots in more natural light. So, I guess these are some bonus pics.

Even though they've yet to put on much bulk, they're frosting up crazily by the day. Every day I'm blown away by how much more coated they are becoming with tricomes.

On that note - check it out in the second JTR pic: the Jack the Ripper has so many huge trichomes on the bottom of her fan leaf stems that it feels like velcro when you rub them. No joke - on the fans! All 3 plants are just coated with trichomes on fans, stems, everywhere. I think Corey's nutes are the bees knees baby. No snowstorm ultra needed? Holy freakin' cow it smells like heaven in that tent!

Did I mention I'm medicated? :bong:

These were taken without HPS to get some truer colors - the flash really lit up the trichs:

Oh! Man! X. That would have been so much fun. :high-five:
:amen: On Damn RS! Loony Bitch!

Good idea on trimming the leaves back. Hope it helps. :Namaste:

I hear you on the state of things, money wise. Glad your well stocked. Here's hopping you win, that would sure help.

Jo is not feeling good again. Can't take her to the Hospital....they are turning people away. Many of our hospitals have went broke and have closed. They are taking the worst cases to the other islands. Speaking of the economy. I fear all of us are heading to bad times. Like you said. What to do? :smokin2:

Nice pics Bud.
