Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

How about Jackpot for a name? :surf:

Love that name! Definitely good one to consider, maybe that would be a good one for the Jack the Ripper x Jack the Ripper... especially seeing that one could put out some wicked weird phenos given it's crossed with same strain, and has a few mutant characteristics anyway. :thumb:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

I'm open to any other suggestions for (Deadhead OG x Jack the Ripper) and (OG Kush x Jack the Ripper) if anyone has them! I love thinking of fun names for stuff.

jackpot, haha that cracked me up i like that one

deadhead ripper, and OG ripper sound pretty kick ass to me. thats about all i can come up with for now. the name ripper just sounds cool since its linked to some mysterious serial killer from the late 1800s. but all those names are pretty well known names so they'll all work. i cant wait to see the seeds sprout for you later on. this'll be fun to follow

those pictures are real real deatailed i'm glad you put up so many examples and posted so much information on your method, when i start breeding i'll remember where i read about it:thumb:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Thanks A1! I have about a dozen different temp/hygrometers, always looking for the best one. My favorite one yet, and most versatile is probably the Caliber III, by Western Humidor. It's also small enough to stick in a jar of curing bud, for example. It's gives consistant readings to my bigger more expensive ones, and it's small enough to go anywhere. I've dropped it in the reservoir a couple of times, and after drying, it goes right back to working.

Amazon - CALIBER III DIGITAL HYGROMETER 4 CIGAR HUMIDOR

I switched to ratchets on my HID light fixtures but that left extra yoyos laying around that I put to use on my T5 fixture in my veg space. I DEFINITELY like the ratchet ones better. I saw your new ratchet ones, way nicer, huh?

Yeah they are WAY nicer and will make raising the lights much easier! The was my current grow is going I will be raising the lights a lot!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Cool idea! Not really, at this point. I guess to really be a strain they'd need to be stabilized... But, we should have some fun name for the cross, huh? :)

For fun, I think of them so far as "OG Ripper" and "Deadhead Jack" (the third is just a Jack the Ripper x Jack the Ripper which probably doesn't need a name?)

I'm open to any other suggestions for (Deadhead OG x Jack the Ripper) and (OG Kush x Jack the Ripper) if anyone has them! I love thinking of fun names for stuff.

Dead Ripped (Deadhead OG x Jack the Ripper)

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

...

Also, I've already found that cuttings from "sucker shoots" lower on the plant seem to root the fastest, which is consistant with what I've read as well. I was pretty impressed by the noticeable difference, though. One of the sucker shoots from the Jack the Ripper cloned in 8 days (rapid rooter plugs under a humidity dome). I can already start to tell whether a cutting will clone well or not, and am planning on capitalizing on that fact by how I train my plants*.
<snip>

I'm too medicated right now, I'm rambling... :bong:

All the clones I take are from the tops. As I Top/Fim/Train, I put those that would be a viable clone in water, and deal with them after I'm done with each plant. They're less taken for their clone-ability and more as a side- or afterthought. Granted, it's not the best way to select your clones, but I've gotten quite good at it. I just have to keep in mind that I need to cut BELOW the lowest node to give the cutting its best chance at becoming another viable plant.

I am also doing it as an experiment to see if clean clones can be taken from those that have been infected with PM, hence the "New Growth" cuttings. So far it seems that those taken from the lightest green cuttings have not been infected. Again, I wish I had thought of this with the GDP, but hey....

Oh, BTW... Keep rambling... It's the reason you created an officially NON-official grow journal.

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

I think you have done enough "breeding" for the moment mister!!!!

That's one cute kid ya have there Chief!

Great job on the seeding, Brother, and the plants all look great! :bravo:

I tried to +REP you, but (for the second time today!) need to spread it around first.

Hmm. OJ Kush (J for Jack, and OJ was a bit like Jack the Ripper?)

I think I'm saving "Jackpot" for that special cross/plant that will be the culmination of my search for my own best medicine. (If that's cool with OMM!)

So far Head Ripper, Dead Ripped, and Deadhead Jack are my other favorites. They're all good! Thanks you guys, love the creative names. I'll keep thinking on it, too. :thumb:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Looking good X! Can't wait to see how they look when growing from seeds. Plants from your grow room will grow to its full potential. They always look so healthy. This is the first time I see anyone on this site crossing with JTR male. Expect some dank results!
