Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012
Hey Jandre -
I'm going to slow it down now, because I'm getting too many irons in the fire, but I like experimenting with things, too, and have been playing around a lot with cuttings of different sizes just to see what roots and when. Mostly just trying to hone a skill I was late to acquire (cloning). Interesting on the Powdery Mild-ewwwwww plant and cuttings, I can see the new growth working.
Ramble on.... Check!
All the clones I take are from the tops. As I Top/Fim/Train, I put those that would be a viable clone in water, and deal with them after I'm done with each plant. They're less taken for their clone-ability and more as a side- or afterthought. Granted, it's not the best way to select your clones, but I've gotten quite good at it. I just have to keep in mind that I need to cut BELOW the lowest node to give the cutting its best chance at becoming another viable plant.
I am also doing it as an experiment to see if clean clones can be taken from those that have been infected with PM, hence the "New Growth" cuttings. So far it seems that those taken from the lightest green cuttings have not been infected. Again, I wish I had thought of this with the GDP, but hey....
Oh, BTW... Keep rambling... It's the reason you created an officially NON-official grow journal.
