Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

All the clones I take are from the tops. As I Top/Fim/Train, I put those that would be a viable clone in water, and deal with them after I'm done with each plant. They're less taken for their clone-ability and more as a side- or afterthought. Granted, it's not the best way to select your clones, but I've gotten quite good at it. I just have to keep in mind that I need to cut BELOW the lowest node to give the cutting its best chance at becoming another viable plant.

I am also doing it as an experiment to see if clean clones can be taken from those that have been infected with PM, hence the "New Growth" cuttings. So far it seems that those taken from the lightest green cuttings have not been infected. Again, I wish I had thought of this with the GDP, but hey....

Oh, BTW... Keep rambling... It's the reason you created an officially NON-official grow journal.

Hey Jandre -

I'm going to slow it down now, because I'm getting too many irons in the fire, but I like experimenting with things, too, and have been playing around a lot with cuttings of different sizes just to see what roots and when. Mostly just trying to hone a skill I was late to acquire (cloning). Interesting on the Powdery Mild-ewwwwww plant and cuttings, I can see the new growth working.

Ramble on.... Check!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

what do you mean infected with PM what does that stand for ?

Jandre2k3 has been infected with AI...

Abbreviation Insanity!

JK, WTF? BRB. LMAO!

LOL

TTFN!

PS - OMG, it's contagious! (Sorry to steal your bit, errrrr recycle it, Jandre)

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

haha yea my daughter is a handful already. maybe i'll take a rain check on the breeding program untill we upgrade to a bigger house lol

I had to read that twice. I saw daughter and breeding program in the same paragraph and kinda freaked for a moment... But I get it now the daughter was the RESULT of the breeding program. WHEW! ;)

As far as with your wife or GF (winks to Jandre over the abbreviation) --- there's nothing wrong with breeding PRACTICE is there?

Congrats again on the job opportunity - sounds like you are doing the very wise thing by buckling down, going for it, and working toward a solid future for your family. Awesome!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Great job on the seeding, Brother, and the plants all look great! :bravo:

I tried to +REP you, but (for the second time today!) need to spread it around first.

Thanks Mr. K --

They're coming along, but they're definitely slower developing than some of the plants I've grown which were more indica dominant. I'm used to things being more developed at this stage, but I think it's a combo of more sativa characteristics, and some fairly low yield strains in play.

Things were quite a bit farther along the last grow at this point, but those were indica dominant, too. Just different! I don't think I've ever been so excited about the strains I'm growing though - should be some winners there with a little luck.

Thanks for the +reps, and attempted +reps! :thankyou:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

How about Head-Jack Kush? (ducking and running)

Dead OG-R (pronounced ogre like shrek )

OG-R kush

or just --- OG-R

DeadHeadxJack=Dipper
OG K.xJack= jOG the ripper...Or...ah hell I got nothin...:thumb:

Head Ripper
Ripped Deadhead

More good names - love 'em. Thanks guys - Head Ripper sounds aggressive! I'd probably be interested in a strain called "Head Ripper". That's come up a couple of times now, and it's one of my favorites. I might hold off on a "final" name until I can grow some out and sample them. All strains are typically heavy on the lemon flavor/smell, so that could work into it, too. I'm hoping to germinate some of these to grow out the run after next, perhaps.

Quix you crack me up! :high-five:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Looking good X! Can't wait to see how they look when growing from seeds. Plants from your grow room will grow to its full potential. They always look so healthy. This is the first time I see anyone on this site crossing with JTR male. Expect some dank results!

:thankyou: Twelve - Appreciate that brother! Yes, could be some interesting crosses. Sure will be fun to grow those seeds out... :)

Appreciate you dropping by. Sure hope things are going a little better for you. I'm really bummed about everything you've been going through, and it's really a shame about not getting more support from your family. Pretty sure I'd have the same outcome. Hang tough my friend! :high-five:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

OK....I need to get in on the naming action! :)

I like the "OJ Kush" suggestion!

If it were me, I'd cross the JTR with your Jilly Bean and make "Jack & Jilly", but that's just me!

Here's some more suggestions:

OG Kush x JTR = "Kush 'n Ripper" (like "cushion ripper")
Deadhead OG x JTR = "Squeeky Fromme"

Good ones! Yes, I was thinking Jack & Jill for the Jilly Bean/ Jack the Ripper cross, and Chocolope/Jack the Ripper would be Jackalope. Those 2 seem like no brainers, and yes I do really hope to make those crosses down the road... :)

Not sure I get the Squeeky Fromme reference (I know who she is, but not sure I get it - unless it's like the OJ reference?) Sorry I'm medicated and sleepy, and slooow right now.

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Just some pics! The gals in flower are getting noticeably frostier by the day, but sure seem slow to add girth. It'll come. The Deadhead OG in flower doesn't seem to want to stop growing vertically, but hopefully it will soon. The stem is about the size of a small tree trunk on her. Really vigorous plant.

I let the Chocolope seedling get a little dry between waterings and it looked a little weak, but I don't think it'll be a problem.

Hard to believe, but I think we're at day 34 since switching to flowering schedule.

Here's the Deadhead OG clone/future mom currently in veg under T5 --- it got quite a trim earlier in the week and now is getting tied down and shaping is being started:

Thanks so much OMM. The feeling is mutual. I'm really excited about your new journal - I enjoy hearing your life story immensely, as well. I hope you keep working on the fiction writing - I think you have a knack for a good story and the ability to put it into words.

THSea has a good journal and grow going now, too. You guys are the "Batman and Robin", scratch that... the "Green Hornet and Kato" of growing.

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Plants are beautiful my friend beautiful :peace:

:thankyou: Papa! Glad to have you drop by my friend. Should be getting interesting any day now - I could see notiecable difference in the bud sizes and swelling overnight! :)

looks amazing mate, cant wait to see final results, plants look so healthy as well

Thank you for the props - you think you can't wait? I'm really really itching to try these out. :bong:

A picture of health my friend!!:goodjob::welldone:

Thanks buddy! I've been blessed with healthy plants lately, for sure. I feel like they do all the work, I just try to give them a nice place to live. :)

I'm happy for you with adding to your space lately, it sounds like you'll have a little more room to spread your wings and do some things you've been itching to do. I feel like you and I have had a similar journey my friend! :high-five:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

X, are you using Snow Storm??

No, I haven't used it before. As far as nutrients and bloom additives it's just the Blue Planet Nutrients 3 part formula, and Blue Planet "Liquid Blue" bloom booster that I use. I've been very happy with them. Have you tried Snow Storm?

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

I have a confession to make.

I'm really into the smell of this Jack the Ripper. It's very unique and smells like some sort of cross between lemonade and cherry koolaid. It's uncanny and unique, and it brings a smile to my face. :)

The Deadhead OG, and OG Kush smell like wonderful stanky, dank bud. I really love that smell, too. I've never smelled weed quite like the Jack the Ripper smells though - amazing, hard to believe it really smells that way!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Heya Deege -

It might work? I don't know for sure, haven't tried it and I couldn't decipher specifically what's in it or how much (maybe I missed that somewhere?). It does say natural plant oils, which probably isn't a bad thing. The SNS 203 that I suggested to you consists of, I believe, Rosemary and Clove oils as the primary bug repellent. And, it's worked well for me in a major houseplant infestation, and a minor cannabis plant one. If you can't get ahold of the Sierra Natual Sciences stuff (or if it's a bit pricey for your budget) you can certainly give it a shot. Might be good stuff! The only ones I can recommend from experience that have worked for me are the SNS 203 and Azamax.

Anybody else familiar with the product Deege is asking about?
