Xlr8's "Flo N Gro" Hydro Multiple Strains 2011

I am doing my second dp blueberry grow. My first I did a few years ago and had no problems except for superstretch and they were a super knockout couchstone but they didn't taste much like blueberries. My newest dp blueberry grow has been bushmastered so stretch is nolonger a issue. When I tried cloning them a few years back the clones did tend to freak and/or hermed so I figured its not a very good cloner. I wasn't a big fan of their POG pot of gold. Me and my friend nicknamed it POS piece of shit. Besides their strengh of the blueberry I am not a big fan of Dutch Passion.

I actually grew my blueberry out anyway, and it had great flavor - though it only tasted like blueberry pre-cure for me. It still tasted great after cure, though, just not as much like Blueberry. Was a really beautiful plant, and it never did get seeded. I'll never waste time growing out a hermie again, though. Too much work and a problem for any other plants.

I'm hoping the remaining DP Skywalker makes up for it all. Thanks for catching up on my journal and dropping in - I know it's gotten to be a long read. ;)

Oh, and I'm pretty stoked to follow your little project. (Though I'm liking this Flo N Gro/Ebb N Gro style thing quite a bit, honestly). It'll be fun to see how your DIY undercurrent produces for you. Nice job on that, btw. :high-five:

Couple of thoughts/stuff to share --

I'm way behind on everyone elses journals again I'm afraid. Been tough to get around lately and I've been a bit down due to slow recovery from recent surgery(s). I hope to get caught up as soon as possible, but I'm trying to take care of myself first (for once!). Nothing life-threatening or worrisome going on, but healing slowly and I need to take things easier than I have.

I have a hermie DP Skywalker, and I'm probably going to take the runt Lucy out, too. She's been a bit weak from the start and she's gotten crowded severely. I want to open things up a bit, and that would help a lot. It would still leave me with the 4 plants I ultimately wanted, plus the Chocolope. (1 each of Skywalker, Lucy, Magic Bud, and Lavender).

Hoping my wife can help me do this tomorrow. It'll be nice having a bit more space. :)

Hey XL!

SO SORRY to hear about your difficulties! That sucks!

Hope you can heal quickly my friend and get back into the action with your usual vigor! You wouldn't know you were dealing with anything like that the way you maintain this great journal of yours! :thumb:

Sending prayers and healing vibes your way! :Namaste:

Do just take care of yourself, friend. As always, we'll be here waiting for you! :circle-of-love:

:thanks: guys. It's the good friends here, of which you've both been to me, that will keep me hanging around no matter what. However, I'm having a hard time keeping up as much as I'd like. :) I really appreciate the kind thoughts, vibes, prayers - all of it!

[RANT] I'm a bit in denial and keep telling everybody that I'm fine, but I'm not fine at the moment. I am still optimistic that will change, but the reality is I feel worn out from pain and nerve damage... Makes me so tired and one flight of steps feels like a mountain right now. That's not good! More Dr's appointments coming up, hopefully we can get things a bit better soon. Sorry to grumble. [/RANT] :smokin:

Thanks for the concern guys. Truly. :high-five:

I'm sorry for asking this but do you think a plant vegged under a Cfl could stretch less with the use of a Mh for the first 2 weeks of flower?...Those are some beautiful plants too! :high-five:

Hi Missbud and :welcome:!

Don't ever worry about asking me anything here. I spend time on 420mag to learn, help, and shoot the breeze with people in a similar situation to me. Please don't ever feel sorry for asking a question - I really do enjoy helping out if I can, and I have some experience with a similar grow box as yours, from BCNL. Oh, and I just subbed to your journal, and your plants look really great so far! :cheer:

In answer to your question, plants tend to grow taller, "stretch", when they don't receive as much "blue" light as they would like/need. MH provides more blue light than HPS. If it were me, I'd consider doing first 7-10 days or so (I've done up to 2 weeks) of flowering period (lights set to 12 on, 12 off) with an MH bulb, and then switch to HPS. That trick should definitely work for you as well.

In theory this should help keep the plants a bit less tall, and you'll need to keep your plants fairly compact in your Bloombox. From my experience, I do believe it works.

I'm really sorry to hear you struggle with arthritis pain - it's pretty tough to explain to someone who isn't use to it what it's like to be in pain everyday - it really wears on a person after a while. I hope you find some relief with your home grown meds. :goodluck:

Thank you for your warm welcoming :Namaste: That Mh idea sounds ideal, can't wait to give it a shot! And sadly yes, it is more than hard to describe to people who just don't understand. Hopefully I can get some decent medicine to make me not care about the stupid pills and creams anymore

Hey bro I am really sorry to hear you are having to deal with all that pain! I really really say make oil. Take all your best buds, then everything else oil it. you'll get to the point like me that you just oil everything as its much more potent, I swear everytime I take a hit of oil it feels like the first time all over again.

dayum sux bro sorry. Motivation to keep improving your meds, keep yer head up :peace:

Hi BK!

Thanks buddy. That's a pretty good idea. Personally, I love edibles, so I make cookies and brownies pretty frequently. They are kinda the same, in that they are much more powerful and last much longer. A couple of cookies last most of the day. One of these days though, I've got to try that earwax stuff you make. :)

Thanks man! Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the Trailer Park Boys touring - will be checking that out soon if I can start feeling better (big IF at the moment!) It'll take a lot to keep me from going though, ;)

X my friend I'm very sorry to hear that you're not as well as you tend to let on. I have to admit, I kinda thought it was the case. I can tell you're a guy who doesn't like to "burden" others with your pains or problems, and so I try not to bring it up too often, but I really do wonder how you're really doing most of the time.
Please brother, take it easy on yourself, and dont be concerned with posting and responding for a while. Take a break if you need to buddy.
Sending you positive and healing vibes, and saying a prayer for a more XLR8ed recovery!!
Get well buddy:Namaste:

Xlr8, post when you can, but take care of yourself first. We'd all like to see you get healthy so don't stress making the rounds. Plenty of time to catch up later.

Hello my Friend:Namaste:

Having known you for a while now I know you do not like to even discuss your medical condition. You must be in some serious pain to even bring it up. I totally agree...take as much time as you need to fight your pain demons. You know your wonderful journal will still be busy...even without you.
As for visiting all our journals....forget it for a while. This time is for you to get better. I think I speak for everyone......we want you to get better....so don't sweat it. We all wish you the best.....so you first ..until you can sort things out with your coming Doctor visits. We love you Bud. :high-five:

Hey Quix -

You're a great guy, and a great friend. Thanks buddy, sincerely.

I have been intending for days to get caught up around here, and tell everyone I'm feeling better, but it just isn't happening.

I'm sick of worrying and griping about it, so I'll just share that my health isn't very good at the moment, none of it should be life threatening, and I do have a dr's appointment coming up in the near future. Hopefully, I'll get me fixed up soon, 'cuz this sucks! :smokin:

I really miss kicking ass and taking names. It was much more fun than always feeling like I got my ass kicked and... forgetting names!

Thanks Steve - appreciate your concern, and you're right of course. It's not part of my pre-programming to take it easy, however, so it's a challenge! ;)

Hi OMM - You're right, I'm afraid. I don't like talking about my health stuff, and I probably wouldn't except I genuinely enjoy spending time with all of you here, and I started to figure it's better to be up front about things than let people wonder why I'm not around as much (or not doing more training with my plants, etc.)

I am so much better off than so many other people, here and elsewhere, that I feel like an ass for even bringing it up. I'm amazed at the perseverance and positive spirit so many people here have - even if they're dealing with really heavy health challenges.

Having said that, I'm the kind of person that will be on his deathbed saying, "It's no big deal - I'll be fine. Don't worry about me!" My wife tells me all the time I live in denial as far as my health. She's probably right, but who wants to think of themselves as being gimpy, or unhealthy?

Besides, I'm still determined to get back into game-shape someday. ;)

I probably can't thank you enough or tell you how much I appreciate your friendship - suffice it to say, it's plenty! :thanks:
