Xlr8's "Flo N Gro" Hydro Multiple Strains 2011

Grow Update - Sept 23

End of Veg day 27, day 38 from seed (Flo N Gro) / Bloom Day 1
End of Veg day 20, Day 30 from seed (Chocolope) / Bloom Day 1

Hey everyone, a few updates to share:

  • Reservoir change yesterday for Chocolope - PPM's are now about 990 -- She's starting to knuckle up good around the secondary grow shoots (now primary) since the topping and is already showing nice progress since the topping
  • Flo N Gro is currently also at about 1000ppm, and will be bumped up soon (res change in couple of days).
  • I'm starting "transitional" diets for all plants, basically just a little extra of the bloom in the 3 part nutrients.
  • In addition to the 3 part Blue Planet Nutrients, they are all recieving the Cal/Mag I'm testing from BPN, as well as Zone, and Silica

Finally, I made the decision that I needed to put these gals into 12/12. I'm worried about space and this is my first multi-plant grow in this tent, so I don't really have it down yet. Today I reset the timers for the lights.

I'm going to wait a week or two before I switch to HPS with the hopes that it will help minimize stretch some.

Flood/Drain cycles were changed to fit the flowering schedule. Currently, I have it set to flood about every 3 hours for 15 minutes, starting right after lights on with a final flood just before lights off. I'm flooding once at "night" as well in order to keep the roots from getting too dry. I'll adjust if necessary.

Yea you definitely made the right choice in switching to 12/12.. You might still run out of room. They look great. I hope the edges get some love. They might not produce much if they get covered by everything in the center. If you get the chance and are able to id do some rearranging.

Hey MB -

The Magic Bud is non-fem, so it could still be a male. It'll be really crowded, but I'll figure something out - hopefully. ;) I did move some things once, but I have a bit more moving I want to do as soon as I can get some help. My health has been a bit better, but I still can't bend/lift stuff. They really took off fast when they took off. I'm not too worried if I don't get as much per plant especially on the corner plants. When I re-arrange, I'm going to prioritize the center as far as plants I want best yield from. The edges still get pretty decent light due to the dual reflectors (2 400w side by side).

Thanks for your thoughts and the compliment! :high-five:

Hey Bro! Your grow is looking great! :bravo:

I don't think you'll run out of room, but you'll definately have a packed tent. Once they get done with their stretch, you may want to trim any of the smaller branches and non-productive stuff just to make some extra room and help with air circulation but it looks like you have plenty of vertical and horizontal space. :welldone:

Hey buddy!

I am nuts for having all of this going on I'm sure. It'll be an adventure... I'll definitely keep an eye on the lower/middle stuff. It'll definitely be full and tight.

Hi X,

wow, they look really good...I agree with MrK and 2j's it's gonna be a tent full of bud.

No you're not crazy, just full of that good feeling we all get from growing...

It's good you switched, they're getting big. I've got to switch soon too, but I really want to have my issues under control first...I'm afraid to switch with less than happy girls, but I may be forced to. I can't let mine outgrow my abilities to manage them either.

It's good your wife helps you...cudos for her. T helps me when ever I ask him but, I really just want to "do it myself" :) does that sound like a 2 year old.

Hope you get to feeling better

Great Grow...I'll be watching

:peace:

Hi Sqwheels -

I know what you meant about wanting to "do it myself". I hate asking for help and sometimes needing it to do something I want. It's hard when you are dependent on someone else to help get something done that you just want to do yourself. My wife is very helpful -- but I hate asking and having to ask. ;)

Will be a full tent, without a doubt. :MoreNutes:

Thanks for following along Sqwheels, I appreciate having you along for the ride. :)

your plans are looking great. i wish mine looked like yours. i always get small burns or wilty leaves. but yours look all green and healthy. looking forward to seeing some bud on these ladies. how big is your grow tent? i just ordered one and am excited to set it up with my new hydro system. i was wondering do u notice much smell thru the tent while in flower?

Hi ClearCrow - :welcome: and glad to have you here. Thanks for the kind words about the plants. :)

My tent is approx. 5' x 3' x 7' tall. It's a Growlab GL80L. I like it quite a bit. I use a decent can filter and fan and the smell is pretty non-existant so far. How big is the tent you are getting? Just make sure and get a good fan/filter set-up that's appropriate for the size of your tent. Let me know if you have questions on that.

:goodluck: and congrats on the new tent! :high-five:

Whoa baby are they taking off already since the light change. Had a bum deal early this morning with the power going out for an hour or so in the middle of their light cycle. Argh. Not much I can do about that but hope it doesn't happen again.

I had some left-over canna-oil in the fridge so I made Snickerdoodle cookies with cannabis infused cooking oil that I had left over from a batch of brownies. I'm flying right now and the cookies were actually pretty good taste-wise. Okay, really good!

2 cookies is about as much as I can do - one is pretty nice, two almost too much. Keeps me medicated for hours at a time. I love 'em!

I have 28 of them. ;)

:yahoo:

haha, the cookies sound awesome im just puffin on a bowl.
my tent is 2x4x7 and i do have a carbon filter and fan combo. i cant remember the dimensions of the filter. its been at my sisters since my previous grow. but should be back here in the week. if im not mistaken it was 8" diameter and 12" long approx.

Hi ClearCrow -

Yes, these cookies are the bomb! I can't believe how strong they are per cookie, but I love it. It's hard to resist eating too many, though. ;)

I love edibles but I still appreciate the instant gratification of a bowl. Edibles can be unpredictable strength-wise, too.

Sounds like you've got a good fan/filter. You shouldn't have smell issues I wouldn't think as long as you get it set up right. :thumb:

Looking Great xlr8 ! :high-five:

Having found yourself with too many plants.......you will do it one way or another. Your tent will be bulging out a bit on the sides, but you can do it!
If you haven't yet.....put those puppies in flower Mate. :MoreNutes:

You remind me of Norcaliwood....if he has a seed he plants it! Then thinks about where to put them......I better stop...it sounds like me too!

I hear you about doing things for your self. Your so lucky Mrs xlr8 is there to help.

Took me a while to admit I needed help......just doesn't feel right. :hmmmm:

XL, how is that new hydro system working for you so far?

XL, how is that new hydro system working for you so far?

Hi Naph -

It works great so far. Here's what I like best:

  • Nutrient solution temps stay cooler since the nutrient solution spends the majority of it's time in a dark cool room outside the tent. (DWC is always a battle to keep the nutrient solution cool without a chiller as it gets so heated up inside the tent).
  • Having the nutrient reservoir outside the tent makes it so I can correct PH between flood cycles even during lights off
  • Square, bucket design keeps plants relatively low so that I can maximize space vertically
  • Don't have to deal with airstones

In general, growth and health have been exemplary since I put them into the system - couldn't be happier. Combine that with the Blue Planet nutrients and it's been pretty much perfect for my situation so far. Honestly, I can't think of anything I'd change as far as the hydro set-up. :)
