Xlr8's "Flo N Gro" Hydro Multiple Strains 2011

Nice tight node spacing.. I love it! They look great bro! After finishing up my nutrient mix, 'Cutting Edge Nutrients', I may switch. I do prefer organic but it's tough to complain about the size the chemicals add. I do a combo now. Can't wait to see them in full bloom.

Hi 4twenty4all -

Thanks - they really are stacked pretty tight. These were fairly mature already for being relatively low to the ground. The Skywalkers were already showing female pre-flowers indicating sexual maturity.

Blue Planet has a few nutrient products now, in addition to the 3 part I'm using, they now have a 2 part, and an organic line. I'm real happy with the 3 part so far.

Corey from Blue Planet is really putting his money where his mouth is, so I hope people respond in kind if it produces like it looks like it's going to. Pricing is very competitive and fair, and he supports the MMJ and 420 mag communities - let's support him, no? :cheertwo:

I am using the BPN in my hempy grow with their Bloom Booster. The girls seem to be liking the new treats. Can't argue with the value and the support. I'll be testing some of that root zone in my NFT grow as well.

I'm sure we'll see a new line of supplements from BPN soon. Looking forward to it.

Hiya Steve!

I felt like I was back in chemistry class when he sent me a Cal/Mag supplement to whip together. It was kinda fun! I'm thinking some sort of Zone type product would be pretty valuable in NFT as long as you aren't using bennies - don't you use beneficials or am I imagining that? Glad to hear the Liquid Blue is working for you - cool!

Dang! I can't thank you guys for all the compliments :) this business really is my passion and I love to help growers. And hey, I am picking up some tricks from y'all as well and I really like that.

Xlr8, let me know how that Root conditioner product works. I will probably send you and Stevehman out some more of that with different concentrations so we can really dial in what works for y'all.

I was using Great White in my free-flowing NFT, but it's a no-go in the aero setup. The bennies grow out of control. I use them in hempy buckets and will use them in the undercurrent when I get that together next month.

ahh - I remember that now from one of your journals. :thumb:

Looking excellent X!!!!

Like you guys said.... you can't put a pricetag on the hands on support you get from Corey. What a wonderful resource.

I love seeing you guys rockin it with BPN.

:thankyou: 420fied, I really appreciate that. I have a lot of respect for your growing skills, so it's doubly cool. You've really inspired a lot of people around here to try there hand at SOG's and 2 liter growing. :welldone:

I'm over-stuffing things in there, but I'm used to packing 'em in tight, so we'll see how it goes. I agree with you whole-heartedly regarding BPN - great guy and I hope people support him.

 You're telling 420fied that your overstuffing YOUR tent???

I'm not sure he's the guy to complain to about packing 'em in tight! :)

Grow update - Bloom day 4

I'm not happy with how the roots look on the Chocolope, and the plant is looking kinda droopy and not as healthy as it should. I'm using a version of DM Zone right now that they only used for a short period, though they say it's just as effective. It doesn't behave the same, and I don't believe at all that it's just as effective. I've used DM Zone effectively in the past to fix issues like this by increasing the dosage slightly, but it's not working. The good news is there are healthy roots on the plant, so I've clipped some of the unhealthy looking stuff for now (that I can see).

Blue Planet is working on a root zone formulation to test, and it should be here in a few days, but I feel like I needed to do something to improve the situation now on this plant. So... I'm rebooting and flushing right away with RO water, a low (25%) nutrient dosage, h2o2, and hoping to perk things up a little.

Having never used h2o2 (Zone has always handled any poor looking root issues) I'm hoping I didn't mess it up. Uncharacteristically, I did this without a lot of research first, so I'm a bit pissed at myself. I just put 9ml of 29% h2o2 in with 2.85 gal of water and a low dose of nutes, and I'm letting it circulate through the waterfarm drip ring as well as the roots getting it in the reservoir, not sure how long I should let it run like this - opinions welcome, even if it's just to say I f*cked up how I used the h2o2, lol!

Oh yeah, if you use higher concentrations of h2o2, like 29-35%, wear gloves! This is not your momma's h2o2, and it will eat your skin in short order. (the stuff at the grocery store is about 3%). I spilled a little on my thumb hours ago, rinsed fairly quickly, and it's just starting to look and feel a bit more normal - and I didn't let it sit there very long. Strong stuff!

I'm most anxious to try Chocolope of all the strains, but man I'm cramped in there and that bucket is just in the way. Something will have to give eventually - but I'm going to wait 'til it needs to and decide then. Chocolope stays for now, (and hopefully somehow 'til finish).

The Flo N Gro ladies are still healthy as ever. Starting to see pistils on Skywalker #2, preflowers on Skywalker #1 - not sure on sex of others yet. Magic Bud could still be a male - other's are all fem seeds.

Sorry to hear about the root issues XL!

Its too bad that Roots Excelerator is so damned expensive! I bet that stuff would help bail you out of that predicament! I am always amazed at what it does for my clones during the last week in the cloner, but I am getting down to the last of what I have and the thought of spending another $70.00 for that little bottle of the stuff is a hard pill to swallow!

I'm following the progress of that BPN brewed version of Root Zone very closely! It would be nice to have a less expensive alternative to Roots Excelerator, but so far I have found nothing that comes even remotely close to touching the results that brown gunk is capable of! ;)

Sorry I can't help you here, Bro. DM Zone & H2O2 are what I keep in my "root repair" kit, too, so what you're doing sounds good to me! :)

I've never worked with 35% H2O2 but, when I had the root rot starting in my DIY cloner a few weeks ago, I mixed the 3% at about a 1:1 ratio with water and gave the roots about a five minute bath in that. It was a pretty strong solution, so didn't want to go too long, but it worked! :)

I usually add a half a cup of 3% to my T48 at about day 5 to keep the slime and black stem rot away. I've found that if I just let the cloning gel wash off the cuttings into the RO water and let that be the only addition to the water for the first week, everything does much better.

On day 8 I add my Roots Excelerator and 180ml of Clonex cloning solution.

This is what Darin Alison over at Turbo Klone suggested I do and it does seem to be the best way to roll.

On session #3 I deviated from that and added Clonex cloning solution to the water on Day 1 and I had a lot of stem rot problems, although the flowering cuttings didn't help either! ;)

Hey X, question....What did you ever think of that Exhale Co2 bag you tried out! Are you still using it or do they expire faster than that?

Never heard much about it from you....

I have used up to 4 oz per gallon of the 3% h2o2 without harming the roots one bit and That will keep the rot and slime away for sure...

Took me a while to do the math in my head :scratchinghead: , but sounds like I should be okay. Thanks for weighing in on that. :high-five:

:thanks: for weighing in and your thoughts guys. I did this earlier today, and they are looking fine so far (whew). Roots Accelerator sounds like good stuff, but the price sounds insane! Maybe I should have bathed the roots. We'll see if this helps. Hopefully I can turn her around. :)

Heya Quix - great question. I used it with the Big Bang Automatic I grew and I had a 4.7z yield out of an auto. So my initial impression is pretty positive in that I gather that's a pretty good yield for an auto. Positive enough that I have 2 of them in there now, just in case. ;)

Aside from some issues with the Chocolope (I don't think her already slow development was helped by me letting lights shine on her roots), the plants in the Flo N Gro vegged impressively and look like they're really on their way, so I'm still feeling like there could be a correlation, but nothing scientific.

Hey XL, I grew Chocolope before and found they were really slow starters. They caught up but the plants had a lot of spacing between nodes and the buds were fairly small. Not a bad smoke in my opinion but it wasn't worth it for me to continue to grow it because it didn't fit in with the other plants. Hopefully yours is better than mine was.. Everything else looks awesome! Chocolope looks good too, just not as big ;-)

Cool - thanks for the feedback my friend, that helps me understand her a bit better. :high-five:

She's looking better yet today so I still have hope for her. :)
