Xlr8's "Flo N Gro" Hydro Multiple Strains 2011

Hey Bro! I hope you're feeling well cuz' it certainly doesn't look like you've been taking it easy!

The setup looks great! :welldone:

You said it! The challenge with running different strains is that they all want different amounts of nutes, so don't feel bad about overfeeding/underfeeding. You basically need to give just enough not to burn the plant with the LEAST demand for nutes and that may leave some of the others craving some more. :morenutes:

Dude, I'm really psyched to see this grow! :yahoo:

I think that HydroHeart I've been looking at for a possible "hydro sog" is basically a miniature version of this setup.

Just please stay healthy & don't overdo it!

Hi Xlr8,

It's already been said, but bears repeating...this journal is growing soo fast. I've been busy the last couple days germing and cleaning my room/setup as well. Starting a new grow journal myself and because I'm also starting from seed, I'm watching to see how you're doing it.

Sorry to hear your health isn't so good, hope you feel better soon...best wishes and good vibes to you sir, hang in there.

Rest up, take care of yourself

Looking good XL!

I'm sure you will end up with a good crop of babies! :thumb:

And definitely TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!

I know how easy it is to push yourself too hard when you are trying to accomplish all the "tasks" we set out for ourselves with these damned plants! :laughtwo:

I really felt like crap yesterday night while I was harvesting my Blueberry Kush plant, but I needed to get it done, so I pushed through. Still, if you're not feeling well, best to hang back and try to do less for a bit.

Hi Mr. Krip - :thanks:

Yeah, it's tough juggling different strains and a new nutrient program - I'm probably overcomplicating my life for the sake of "choice". :)

I just did a little research on the Hydroheart as I was curious. It's actually a unique version of an under-current system like the one I talked about somewhere in the first couple of pages in the journal. A bigger version of it would basically be the Under Current by CCH2O. Instead of flooding the buckets and draining them periodically, you'll always have the buckets filled with water/nutes and bubbling air-stones, but there is a recirculating pump that keeps the nutrients moving through the system. It's a great hydro concept in my opinion. I didn't look into it far enough to develop an opinion on how good of quality that specific system is.

It does look like a really cool way to do a hydro sog, and that system seems pretty sound if they are using decent pumps and effective air-stones. The one I was looking at was so small, that I'm thinking you're looking at SOG only with that, but maybe there are bigger models. I think it's pretty cool, overall!

Part of why I wasn't on much/at all yesterday is that I was so beat from getting this all set-up. Just a tough go at the moment health-wise, but I feel like it should be a bit easier now with the plants (I hope!). :)

Yea thats how flo n gro was meant to be used, with lots of space. Looks real good xlr8! What did you decide for a fill/drain schedule?

Hi Magic beans!

I kinda like your cram it in there style though too - you can go either way, just depends on how long you want to veg. I plan on experimenting over time with spacing and quantity in there. I bought a whole bunch of extra 3/4" tubing so that I can change spacing if I want, etc...

I don't remember exactly what I set it at, but I'll look it up. It's something like this (15 minute floods - it only takes about 5 minutes to flood 'em) -- still during veg cycle, 18/6:

Basically 6 cycles a day, every 4 hours or so, with one falling during lights off. I'm guessing I'll want to change this for 12/12 so that I'm still doing one flood at night, but only 3-4 during lights on. So far, they seem really happy in their new home, so all seems to be good so far. I'm always open to advice on this subject! :)

I hope to do an E+F grow some day..I'm paying close attention to this so hope something sticks. Great looking set up :goodjob:

Thanks buddy.

Yeah, I'm really paying attention too! It's all really new to me as well. So far the plants look happy as hell in it, though, whew....

:thanks: Sqwheels!

It sure it moving fast - whew! I just ran over and subbed to your new journal, but I still need to get caught up. Hoping that you're off to a great start! :cheer:

Well, many of us have health issues. Hopefully, mine is on the way to getting slowly better, so I am overall pretty upbeat and optimistic. Besides, you always have to play the cards you're dealt, right?! Thanks for the  -- very appreciated.

Thanks so much GG7 - I hope they grow up to make me proud!

You are of course, correct. I really wore myself out the other day, but thankfully my wife helped me a ton, and made sure the heavy lifting stuff was taken care of by her not me. :)

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well, but congrats on the Blueberry Kush harvest. I'm curious how that one smokes/vapes - have you grown one before?

I'm relieved to be past the "heavy lifting" portion of what needed to be done (I hope) so I'm hoping that things get a bit easier. :phew:

And we're off to the Rodeo. GL and I'll be driving thru here and there.
Keepem Green

:thanks: brother! Let's hope this rodeo goes off without a hitch. ;)

No Body can say your going half way.....full steam ahead! Hell with heath! :circle-of-love:

Hi OMM!

Well, I sure did wear myself out doing stuff that shouldn't have probably wore me out normally, but my wife was a big help to me, and did the heavy lifting stuff, thank goodness!

She can be an angel. :circle-of-love:

 Sorry...you're right! I don't know why I thought you were doing UDWC when it's flood & drain? :bongrip:

The HydroHeart uses these "bubble emitters" instead of airstones. They're supposed to be better than the airstones and don't wear out. The pumps, however, I believe run on batteries, which I don't like. It's good for preventing electric shock, but not too good at preventing a pump failing from dead batteries! So, I'd probably use a different air pump.

I did see some test data that showed the water remaining well oxygenated, even at very high temps. I still haven't been able to get in touch with anyone to give me dimensions, though. I think I can get something like 8 and possibly even 15 sites in my small cab, plus the controller. So, I think in a couple of grows, I'm gonna give it a shot!

It's good to hear your plants are loving the new system and very good you had some help from your wife along the way. Just take care of yourself so you can heal quick!
