What I've learned is that one of the main jobs or reasons for the plant producing trichomes is to shield the plant from the Suns UV rays. HPS and the soft white cfls don't emit or emit very little UV. MH and cool white (daylight) cfls emit those UV rays so when used during flower in conjunction with HPS at about a 2 (hps) to one (MH) ratio, the plant is forced to defend itself by producing more trichs (resins)
I agree, MC. Although the 2700k are meant for flowering, my buds nearest the 6500k bulbs get the most trichs and the soonest too.
