Woodsman's Northern Light #5 Grow

I'm only 21 so if theres an age limit then i've been breakin it for a while lol the older you get the more experience in wisdom you have and age is just a figment of time when it comes down to it

Don't let wifey catch yah sayin that woodsy she'll have your head haha your girls are lookin fantastic though brother and geez you got some fans man what a great journal if i could rep yah i would keep up the good work and good growin to yah my friend:welldone:

Hey what's up COmmj buddy! :rasta:

We need young growers to carry on the tradition. Pretty soon us old timers will be too weak and fragile to lift the five gallon pots. Soon after that we'll be going to that huge grow room in the sky where there are no pH worries and the trichs are like 1/4 inch long so you can see the color easier without cheap a** microscopes from Radio Shack. They've got acre plots of land up there that are all FFOF soil and Hydro areas that you don't have to change the water. While we're up there relaxing and sipping our favorite beverage on the veranda with pretty native girls watching are crops grow, you youngsters would be taking up the slack down here.:grinjoint:

Hey Woodsman, nice grow man. I had to stop and look at your journal cuz I liked your knowledge and humor I saw in some others I read. Great journal, now I just have to start at the beginning and read the first 66 pages! :nicethread::bravo: :peace:

Thank you 420warrior you are most welcome to come and join us, just pull up a stump and throw a log on the fire whenever you like. Mind you though, when your done reading all one million pages, you will probably look like this.....:rasta::adore::rofl:

Then you'll need to take a few hits of this :passitleft:

Hey, I didn't say you didn't belong here I just said we would be envious! Gee, a guy can't get a break some days! LOL!

Haha i just had to brag a lil bit(sorry woods:rollit:) i would share if i could my man and i take envy as a compliment so thank you kind sir:grinjoint: you had me laughin with that one though brotha:ganjamon:oh and woodsy gets my vote for M.O.M his journal is a poppin sensation:thumb::bravo:

damn 420warrior just popped Woodsman's 1000 post cherry! congrats woods!!!+reps if i can yet
Thanks Leave, anyone who reads this whole thing deserves a week in Hawaii with OldMedMan and the rest of the 'Island Crew'. The only catch is we haven't figured out how to pay for it!
hey woodsman :nicethread: rumor has it you have been nominated for member of the month! :welldone: youve earned it brother!

Your shi**ing me HK, right? Why would anyone want me to be the poster child of this site. Millions will flock to the exits! The downfall of humanity! They'll say that the site has gone to the same place that male plants go! Honestly, I didn't pay anybody! What will the wife think! She'll probably leave me..............MOM you said?

I've never won anything in my life. If there is any money on it, make sure to bet on one of the other guys! Guaranteed cash in the pocket!

Hey, I didn't say you didn't belong here I just said we would be envious! Gee, a guy can't get a break some days! LOL!

Make sure you learn all these new grow techniques now while your still senile. I have trouble remembering if the zipper on my pants goes up or down! I thought DWC was a channel on TV.

Like I said above in a previous post put your money on one of the other guys (I am). Cause I cant win anything. Last week I was suppose to win the lottery since only one other person bought a ticket, I came in third! :ganjamon:

yeahhhhh woods,
hope ya win...love the journal...and trip down memory lane, or in my case it wasnt a trip...it was a dang journey....posted new pics for you all...you go for it...lavendar

ps. i also use both spectrums of lights in my budroom...it works...but then what i use is a real hybrid and loven it...hps,bud only led's, cfl's...(in the veg, it is mh, general purpose leds and cfl's.)..mostly mix of cool and warm cfl's in both...:rollit:

You put it nicely.
It was good talking to you yesterday. Keep up the good work and we'll talk soon.

The following photos are relevant to my earlier post from today. For those of you that missed it, I've copied it for you.

These first two photos illustrate my usage of the duel light spectrum. You can see the amber/red and the blue.

Here's some photos of the grow from today (27 days flower).

I'm interested in what you all think about using duel spectrum lighting for flower. I know that it was once suggested on this thread by someone. It wasn't till I read Roseman's article that I was convinced to try it out. If it effects potency as he states, then it is definitely worth trying.

I like to do the dual spectrum during flowering with 6,500k and 2,300k, I did one blue for every 2 red/yellow. I don't know what it does to the potency, but I believe by having the blue lights it will help reduce stretching during the flowering stage. The stems and branches use more of the red spectrum to grow while the leaves use the blue spectrum. I think that's how it goes some one please let me know if I'm wrong. I'm done rambling. As always Woods great job on the grow man, peace and good karma.

I think the blue does help with the stretching. Help but not stop it may be a better way to put it. The plant is going to double the vegetative growth height no matter what you do. the multi-spectrum does allow it to get to be a bigger and possibly stouter plant that can hold more bud. The increase in potency comes from having a healthy plant.

The 2 to 1 ratio is about right for most strains.

What I've learned is that one of the main jobs or reasons for the plant producing trichomes is to shield the plant from the Suns UV rays. HPS and the soft white cfls don't emit or emit very little UV. MH and cool white (daylight) cfls emit those UV rays so when used during flower in conjunction with HPS at about a 2 (hps) to one (MH) ratio, the plant is forced to defend itself by producing more trichs (resins)

I agree, MC. Although the 2700k are meant for flowering, my buds nearest the 6500k bulbs get the most trichs and the soonest too.

The hps bulb that I use actually states dual spectrum on it, so best of both world I think.

It was about 100 euros to buy initially and of course far less work than adding dozens
of smaller lights of different spectrums.

The only downside I can see might be the cost of running them but for just one single light it isnt really an issue. It seemed to cost me about 25 euros last month on 24hrs.

Hello my friend, first off was my above, brief explanation correct? Also, my plants have not missed a step in the last few days since I added the 'cool white's'! Since I read your thread, I have also done additional research on the subject. You have been 100% correct in your analysis. I wonder why indoor growers aren't all using dual spectrum in flower? Either using the newer HPS bulbs with both spectrum's or by adding a MH or daylight CFLs to their HPS.

There you go! I just mentioned the dual spectrum HPS above! I would imagine like you said, they are more expensive. For those that use MH for veg, they can just keep it in the room while adding the HPS for the flowering. Or, just buy a few daylight CFLs at the store.
