Woodsman's Northern Light #5 Grow

My Northern Light/Blueberry is crazy stinky, Ive only 2 grows under my belt with Cannabis my 3rd is prob 20 days from being harvested.
My first 2 grows where White Rhino seeds from Nirvana (shipped to the states IL).
With the WR I had no smell issues both grows bloom cycle included (same nutes/Deep Water Culture system all the same stuff).
Is your NL stinky as my strain??

I bought these CFL's off the shelf at Lowes and Home Depot. Both were appx. $15
They are both 2700K

Woodsman those are some very nice plants. I am very interested to see the growth of the NL#5 in flower. Keep up the good work!:bravo:
You and I both! Won't be long I'll try to get to the store today for my soft white CFLs.

:welcome: to the thread Love1Fear, glad to have ya here!
At this point the only smell from these vegging NL's is when I rub or touch the leaves (very mild). Otherwise no smell at all. This is a good thing as I've assured my wife many times that Northern Lights has a reputation for very little odor while growing. I would think that it is not the NL side of your cross, but the Blueberry side. I hope!
What are you planning on growing in your upcoming grow?:peace:

Yep, I am telling my wife the same thing about my upcoming Skunk Grow....
I told her it's just another name for a cannabis plant and it will hardly smell at all! LOL!

Howdy, Joe, Those look very interesting.. Looks like they need an adapter socket, correct?

Wondering how much more light penetration they provide. I if had two of those 65w bulbs on each side instead of the four 26w bulbs per side that I'm using now, would that make a big difference. Thats 130w verses 104w per side, yet coming from only two light sources instead of four. It would men a smaller footprint -unless they penetrate much better than the 26w bulbs. The 26's are good for only a few inches of light penetration each.
Price sounds interesting, but that's $60 plus dollars for four bulbs. That would be extremely tough explaining that to the wife!

They screw into a regular light socket and take the place of 3 100 watt output/26 watt bulbs and they are really bright. I use two of them along with 5-6 100 watt output/26 watt bulbs. It's really bright down in my basement... LOL! The plants seem to love them..

Glad to hear that they are reg sockets (picture on the box threw me). How am I going to swing this one with the wife? It was going to be tough anyways getting by with my original plan. I only have two 26w soft whites here at the house and was going to buy 6 at Lowes to give me the eight I need. If I remember correctly, the daylights were on sale for like 10 bucks on a four pack. That's quite a difference in price that I really can't justify. I've told her that the others can be used around the house after my grows. lol!

Just keep in mind that the 65's do put out a little more heat than the 26's. That amount of heat is easily handled by the fan running between the top of the plants and your light. I run my 65's between 3-5" away. CFL's are more about surrounding your plants than having light penetration just from the top down.

Correct about the penetration aspect, your right, in the short of it though, having two 65s and two 26's on either side will be an improvement over my initial plan. I would really like to raise the wattage as much as I can afford.

Tell me guys, If I bought 4 of these 65w soft white bulbs and used 4 existing daylights that I have in there now for veg, is that OK or are the daylights a no-no. That would give me on each fixture a set up like this - 65wsw-26wday-26wday-65wsw-. Is that set up OK?

You could do the whole grow with the 65-26-26-65 and provide a balanced light aspect or in your case you could use all 26's for veg and just use the big boy configuration when you get to flower.

if the two center 26's were daylights, would that be OK for the flower stage? Or better to use just the 65's

I can touch the 65 watters when they are illuminated. They do produce a little more heat than the 26 watters but not a lot more. I run my grow downstairs without the need for fans. As a matter of fact I just tossed a couple of incandescents in to generate a little bit of heat down there by the germinating plants.

I hope they're on sale cause it is a financial stretch right now. We'll see, if I can't swing them now, then I'd buy them as soon as I'm able.

I told my wife that it would lower the electric bill... One 300 watt output/65 watt bulb uses 216% less electricity than #3 100 watt incandescent bulbs.
They are super energy efficient and they last 10,000 hours.

LOL that was the reason I gave her last time when I got the daylight CFL's!

The last couple of days I'd been worried about my Dad. He's 89 and was having some health issues. We thought he would be going into the hospital today, but as of this morning he apparently had a turn for the better! The Dr. says he will not have to be hospitalized. It was tough thinking the worst was going to happen these last few days. Now I feel better.
