Pink Lady and Bubba Kush inside where it's warm.
And yes that's me in the picture. Don't think anyone can see my face in the shot so I left it. That's my Suzuki GS 1100 EZ on the shoulder of Highway 1 in California. I think that pic was on the way up to Fort Bragg, (north of the Bay Area) and is from the mid 80's. I was in my late 20's.

Sorry this pic is a little fuzzy, but this is the last pic of what was left of Bagweed #1B before I chopped it down!

I made this tent in an effort to keep the plants from freezing last night and tonight as the temps dropped into the low 30's. Supposed to warm up next week. During the day I remove the tarp. Besides some of my wife's plants in there, I've got the Mazar, NL#5, Bagweed #1A and the Runt.

My ancient portable heater/fan that I run all night. So far it has worked (last night). Tonight is supposed to be a little colder and may drop below freezing in fact. Should be fine.

What was left of Bagweed 1B (195 grams wet). By the end of this week I will have #1B's total dry weight for ya. I lost about a quarter of the buds to the bastard borers! This was the hardest hit of all the plants (I hope).

Bagweed_1B_harvest.JPG

You can see the gaps (in the top) where I had to remove buds after finding worms. In some cases I had to remove the whole bud and in other instances just a piece of the bud

As always your comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for tuning in folks!

Looking sick man 5 star rep, check out my mini mini grow compared to you man .

Welcome FFGuyZ! Nice to have ya here at my grow. Just checked out yours also. Nice idea using vids instead of pics! I also left you a 'how to' for getting yourself a signature. That's important if you wish to get more folks to visit your great grow.

Here's a link to FoxfarmguyZ journal:

Hello Woodsman! :grinjoint: Great pictures of some lovely ladies. :)

I was most impressed with your tarp and heater. That is good thinking my friend, you have saved a bunch that way. I hope you do get a bit of warm weather as it would give them that extra time they need. This is turning out to be a good one for you!. Just a little but of warn weather is all you need now. :)

Thank you my friend for your kind words! From what I gather, we'll be having warmer weather at least for the next week. Yup so far the smoke has been terrific and that's without any cure. I'm patiently waiting for the Pink Lady to mature just a tad more and then she will get her chop. Next up will be Bagweed 1A!

Thanks for coming over O, I made a lame attempt to visit around a little this evening, but I'm fading quick and will have to hit the sack I'm afraid. Uploading pics is a real pain when you've got a bad back!:)

The biggest problems in identifying moth and beetle larvae is many of them look nearly identical and it can require specialists to ID some. Not to mention I have also noticed some change colors over time. I have some old specimens from last year that I didn't preseve properly, so I am going to have my caregiver provide me with new samples to take to the lab at my school so I can start looking through the larvae collections. :slide:

Good luck with the new samples Odin. By the way, I think your knowledge and skills are and will be a great asset to all of us here. May I suggest you start a thread dealing with insects as they relate to marijuana, how to ID them and what to do about them etc etc. Perhaps bring it up to the Boss (420) or Soniq420.

sorry folks but the old back is yelling (screaming) at me to go to bed and give it a rest!

Nite all! Back tomorrow.:blunt:

Thanks man! Gotta start putting this college education to some use! Haha. I'm compiling notes at the moment, but was also thinking about that. Wanted to get some more concrete knowledge down first. Would be a great resource for everyone here, especially since these budworms have become a real problem the last decade or so. This problem has actually shifted my focus quite a bit. I am also researching an ant problem for another member on here, but have made more progress with this so far. You would also be a great contributor, as your pictures/removal tutorial are great pieces of information on the subject. That goes for everyone else too that has been sharing photos. The more photos the better. I'll start organizing a post to start shortly on the subject.

Very nice woodsman, that Bagweed #2 plant looks amazing. I feel you on the damage to the buds those darn worms do. I sucks you spend so much time and those little buggers can do so much damage so darn fast. At least you saved a bit of bud, it look very nice... Sucks about the freezing I will keep my fingers crossed you get some warmer weather and let those ladies finish up. Looks like the heater will do the job in the mean time. Very nice job...

well done wood made a lil kif wit same haze an mids an still got some buds so everything is good

Let me know if you need some of my pics for your research, or just look through my 'photo gallery' in my signature. should be about a month and a half back I think. When I showcased the surgical and post surgical photos.
Good luck with your plans!

Hello Sonzor. Well they weathered through the last two nights and now they say it will go down to low 30's again. It had been forecast to be in upper or low 40's as of last night. First thing this morning I took the tent apart, moved all the plants (including the 2-50 lb cacti we have) back were they were. I'm not about to go through putting the darn thing together again so I improvised a little. I squeezed all the plants (bubba and #2 are inside again) into a corner of the deck up against the house, made a wind break out of a couple of camping cots and lawn chairs, then I connected the heater up and placed it on the floor blowing straight into the lower parts of the plants. Fingers crossed! Had a temporary scare this morning when I undid the tent. The NL#5 looked like a limp d..k (or a lot of limp d..ks with all the drooping branches and leaves. I wasn't quite sure if it had died (from the cold) or if it just needed watering. Watered it with straight water at first and fed all the others that needed it (1A and what's left of #2 got just water). An hour or so later I noticed that the leaves were starting to perk up. An hour after that the lady was hot to trot so I fed her also. We'll see in the morning if they survive.

Hey woods, is that a Dobsonian in the pic? Looks like a 6" or 8" to me.

Do I detect an amateur astronomer? Your right my friend, I've got an Orion 8" SkyQuest Dobsonian, I've had her for about 5 years now. Used to take her out on the back deck at night quite a bit. I think since I've been busy with the last few grows, I haven't taken the time to 'observe' lately. I'll get back into it I'm sure after this grow is over since it's the last till at least next summer or later.

Woods!! Just came threw to give you a 5 rep for the help with my signature and just the amazing reads you have. Thanks again !!

Glad I could help you out with the signature. I went to your thread just now and didn't see the same signature that you have up above? Let me know if you need help. Main reason people have problems with it ( I did) is that they miss a step or don't follow the instructions exactly.

I appreciate your kind words regarding my thread. I think the reason that you enjoy it though is because of people like you and the rest of the guys and gals that visit and contribute to it!

Great job bro, blow over a little of that smoke my way will ya! :Hookah:

Your not allowed to get sick! Who gave you permission? Hubby? Where are you and how the heck did ya let her get all ill and everything? LOL

I hope you get well quick L and get back to feeling better. This is the time (at least out here) when a lot of folks get colds. Weather has a chill in it lately, along with some dampness (arthritis lovers rejoice).

Well mine may be larger because they're outside, no? The high off her at mostly cloudy with some clear was terrific, I'm letting her go a tad longer till she's at all cloudy and maybe an amber here and there, but that's all. Seems she is sativa dominant in her psychoactive properties and her leaves do not have a pure indica look at all and yet are not so sativa looking either. The taste was distinct though and the taste very familiar to what I think was a Diesel in one of the samples I had tried a few months ago.

By the way, I had removed a tiny bit of Bagweed 1A a week ago. It was 55 grams wet, I just placed it into a small jar this evening to give it a cure. Last night just before I signed out of my thread. I loaded a small bowl. :cheertwo::cheertwo::cheertwo:

A really terrific up high, perhaps even more so than the other two. I had only had a bowl of microwaved bud off her previously and that was also a very good high. She's about 30/70 clear/ cloudy and will come down in a week or so.

The NL#5 (hope it survives the night) is a gem in the rough though. She smells sooo good, like a sweet pungent fruit. She has really started to gain weight now as evidenced by her quickly fattening buds. I'd say another two weeks and she will be ready. I will finish her even if I have to hide her under the bed covers at night if it's to cold outside!

The Mazar is a beast! She is by far the largest as far as sheer volume goes and She is about 6 feet off the floor and almost as wide with many long branches that are budding from the bottom all the way to the top. These large branches (comes form FIM'ing early in her life) are packed with buddage as I just stated, but are not very branched at all. The buds are all very close to the main stem. It's like I have a dozen main colas. Actually there is a main cola that got supercropped when she got too tall. That top is again rising above the rest. Same thing happened with the NL#5's cola. I should have tied their tops down at the time.

The Bubba Kush is now starting to gain weight and her budding is going full steam ahead! I'd say 3 weeks for her to finish. I guess ideally I should let her go to part amber, correct? She has that classic Kush looking foliage and even my wife commented that if the stuff were legal, she'd like to make a houseplant of one. Thinks it is very pretty!LOL As do I!

My girl wants to grow some Northern Lights. She has a period in her life where that was the best you could get and she wants to relive it. I see that happening one of these days. On my to-do list.

Ha ha, I knew it. Dob's are where it is at. I love them for their simplicity and quick cool down(warm up). Orion huh? That is a nice scope for sure. I only ask because I had, up until VERY recently a 12" Deep Space Hunter.

While it was not the best by any means, that thing would gather some light. The whole Messier Catalog was no problem at all for this thing. Even the NGC index was extremely clear, if you could find it that is.

That is too cool brother. There were many nights I would spend with a nice Sativa and that thing. I kind of miss her. Especially coming into the colder months.

Anyways, hope that the greens are treating you kind my friend.

That's a nice Dob Velo! I wish I had a 12 inch! So much more light than an 8". I have not been able to see everything, but I've been very satisfied none the less. Are you in a 'dark' area or do you have to travel to get dark sky. I'm kind of in the middle I guess, Other than the neighbors 'security' light that comes on whenever a car or pedestrian passes his house and also some small towns within 10 miles sometimes obscure horizon. From the back deck I've also got limited sky access. I've got from the northwest through the southern sky and just a tad of eastern views. Since I've got woods surrounding me, I'm also missing some lower elevation views. But what I can see is beautiful. Cold crisp and clear nights are just starting around here so that will be a nice distraction after the grow.

Cool, Woods. I used to have a scope but I sold it to my aunt. It was automatic and you could plug it into a laptop. It came with software and knew when you could see certain planets, meteors or constellations. You just click with your mouse and it tracks over to what you want to look at and locks on. No adjusting when the star moves out of the field of view. It was badass. I spent many hours stoned looking at the colors of Jupiter and Saturn. Saturn still looked tiny through the scope, but it was for sure cool to see the rings. I had a hard time looking at the moon. It's so bright it would blind me. Lol. Later, Brother.

Not really in a dark area. I think that where I am is a 4-5 on the Bortle Dark-Sky Scale. 1 1/2 hours away we have a very small area that is a 2. It is up high and takes some work to get there but it is SO worth it.

I started w/ one of those little Tasco POS when was about 13/14.(Ha Ha) While good for very few objects, it got me hooked. I would kill to have an 8" Dob now. Maybe again one day huh?

There is a piece of software called Starry Night. It is amazing. If you have never heard of it it is well worth taking a look at. It taught me how to read the sky better than anything else I have found.

Hope all is well w/ ya brother!

I think Starry Night was the program I was talking about in my earlier post. It sounds familiar.
