Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

Hey everyone, just thought this was kind of cool. This is the Chem 91 S1. Only three days above ground. Top is looking good so far, first set of true leaves in place. Maybe 1-1.5" tall.

What I thought was cool was the tap root has made it to the bottom of the solo cup already, and out the hole. (FYI, the clear solo cup is for root viewing. It gets placed in a red solo cup to block out light).

You now have direct evidence that the very first thing the plant does is send that tap root down to the bottom. Save this picture.

Yes! I thought the timing was perfect given the recent discussion here about root development, watering, etc. @Emilya I know you do a ton of coaching regarding watering, deficiencies, nutrition, etc. with various members here. Feel free to use this photo whenever you like, if it is helpful to for you to share. I just got lucky peeking in the cup to make sure no water was accumulating.

I love it when the roots peek out the little holes at the bottom of the clear cups.

got it bookmarked

@The Bard thats a super long tap root that’s grown out of the cup!

No kidding! :)

That plant has been the over-achiever of the group - first to crack, first above ground, and now crazy tap root. I'll keep her!

I love dark devil. I am not too happy with autos in general, but I'll keep running DDA. It's so delicious!

Right there with you... not a huge fan of autos, but I will try them again in some future grow. I do have one DDA in late flower right now. She is tiny - my fault, the environment for her wasn't good. But her colours are pretty cool.

I'm thinking that those who can grow outdoors may be able to get two auto-flowering crops in. Start them indoors for early July and mid September finishes. That should be before the rainy season starts here in Nova Scotia.

Thanks Salt. I thought about trying autos outdoors, but then decided to do "fast" versions of photos instead. Might try autos again indoors during the dead of winter. Will stick to coco though, as I had trouble with hempy, and my make-shift tent will be retired! :)

I received some 'free' Diesel seeds marked as autos I may put out next spring.

I got my chemdog seed out. I'll be dunking her tonight. Couldn't find them the other day. I looked again and they were right in front of me. They could have jumped out and bit me the first time, they were right in front of me for Pete's sake! ;)

I literally spent 3 hours one day looking for my tape measure... it was out on the counter next to the rice cooker... on the other hand I had smoked multiple bowls of cookies n chem just before I started looking....

if you are properly using the lift method I don't see how you could be watering too often and have this problem then. I suspect that like many, you are still afraid to let it get as dry as what I am describing. The cup can't just feel light... you must not be able to discern ANY water weight at all. Try using a postal scale... measure a cup of dry soil, and then use that to compare to your live plant.

That sound like a plan. I have a scale and will be measuring for the weight of the solo cups today. Thank you Emilya.

:)
