Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

Alright here it is. Just for you @The Bard .

There’s th first tip I cut off of Gasfruit. I think it’s important to make sure you’re hitting the actual branch inside the center of the bud.

Here she is, all topped up. I topped every branch that has some good sized nuggets underneath the main top bud. Everything that looks like a bud on a stick I left alone. We’ll see how these buds progress over the next 3 weeks.

I’ll go ahead and do this to every plant in the tent. Thanks for checkin it out everyone

This is going to be interesting, thanks Chef!

Look around on that thread and you will find other shots of that plant of buds that were not backbuilt. I did it only on a few just to show the result, purposely in that thread. Yes, the shots just below that are of a completely different variety, and I simply illustrated those as examples of a typical conical bud that we have all seen over and over again in our gardens.
Backbuilding drastically changes the shape and size of the bud. Guaranteed. Every time. 100%.
Try it on a bud; what do you have to lose?

I already tried that. My results were similar to the claims made about backbuilding but the experiment wasn’t documented well so i can’t claim any conclusive results. Well, no biggie, i don’t really want fatter colas, i’m happy with what i’m getting but yeah, i also think it works.

Ok i hate to disappoint. So i just snipped the tips of some colas. Couple of mains on each strain got some snipping. It’s the middle of flowering (for most) and i wanted to give them some time to really do some growing. This time i’ll document it better in my journal. (They are a little sad, my vacation really threw stuff off in the tent but still they’re fine)

Ive never heard anyone say that lol. Your plants look excellent.

I put all of the tops from the whole tent in a big ball and I’m letting it dry.

I want smaller colas.

Yeah me neither. But extremely fatter colas are harder to dry imo. The outer parts dry too much and middle stays wet for longer. I don’t know man, i like fluffy buds also. Not full fluff but not like pebbles either. Easier to grind and i find them easier to cure also. It’s a preference. Still, if everything goes well you’ll see these gals will produce some wicked weight, with or without backbuilding. Haha.

Cool discussion on the DinaChem, guys, thanks for sharing that. I reminded me that I didn't post the pics I took yesterday on this thread. I did a journal update, but here are the two chems (Dina and 91). Interesting the different growth habit. They are both 48 DAYS in veg:

Will likely flip to 12/12 in the next week or so.

Happy Monday!

I like the way you train your plants ... lots of space between growth nodes ... I'm trying to get mine to look like that still.

Lookin really excellent Bardy. Your plants have a very beautiful color to them. Nice and vibrant.

It’s time for my update as well! Day 43 since flipping the lights. I’m in the home stretch now folks, only 20-27 more days to go!

I did a huge defoliation on pure gas and gasfruit yesterday. Now the light penetrates both plants really well.
I’m gonna go through today and snip all the tops of each top bud as I was talking about earlier with Beez and Emilya.
Thanks for checking me out everyone!

Cool training!

Clip the tops? I thought @Emilya said get a deer to nibble on the tops so it's more natural and organic :)

Thanks SQl. I am not sure what I am doing that creates the nice node-spacing, but I suspect that it is from keeping my light intensity fairly low during early veg. Not so much that the plants get leggy and spindly, but enough so that the are "reaching" a bit for light? Right now I have lights set at 18 Watt/sq ft, at about 20" above canopy. As I approach the flip to 12/12, I will turn up the dimmer, and ultimately get to about 40W/sq ft, but still about 20" above canopy.

Unfortunately, I don't have a PPFD meter, which would be a fun toy, but the are quite spendy, and the plants seem to communicate if they want more/less light.

Of course, there is also just dumb luck, which seems to play a major role in my grows.

Thanks for stopping by!

Check out those alabaster white pistils and verdant green leaves! :) LOL. Channeling the thesaurus from your other thread.

Nice job!
