Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

I never heard of filtering herb either. But I have to believe that a company that makes and sells what they refer to as "The Perfect Pipe" I would expect the THC gets through the filter just fine. I'll have to see how it does when I use it.

So i wanna ask everyone here to chime in about what’s going on here. I’m starting to become very concerned with the state of 2 of my cookies n chem plants. They’re buds are not swelling at all (today is day 49, end of week 7), and a lot more of their pistils are brown compared to the other cookies n chem plant. Let’s see what you guys think.

So here are the two plants that are really going brown on the pistils.

their buds are significantly smaller than the following plant;

fruitflower has almost only white pistils still...

They’ve all 3 been handled exactly the same way since flipping to flower except for a defoliation I did last week for the two plants that have gone brown. They don’t look they they’re really lacking in the foliage department though.

Here’s a picture of all 3, if you zoom in you can see how the two plants on the right have mostly brown pistils and the plant on the left is almost completely white.

I’m getting worried about this, I think something has caused my harvest to really suffer and I’d like to figure out what it was.

I would wager a guess that the massive defoliation in late flower put your plants into shock, and thinking that the end was near with someone munching on them like that, they went into hurry up mode and are trying to finish out. Its nothing really wrong... just a natural reaction to what you did to them.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking... really unfortunate, I wonder how much weight I lost cause of my overzealous inexperience

Well, it’s all a learning experience right? That’s why I’m doing this. Not only to reap the rewards but to learn to do it better next time.

can you remove leaves very slowly? And would it be advantageous to try?

yes, a few a day doesn't cause a lot of stress... but I fail to see the advantage of not doing it early for better light penetration, airflow, etc...

Right, but these plants of mine have been adapted to being leaf stripped like every few days. So even in flower they throw out tons of leaves until like week ~5. And I grew too many main tops probably. I should’ve been more selective, then defoliation wouldn’t have been as necessary.

I got curious about how the trichomes look, so I got out my loupe. At the very top of the plant both of the plants in question are something like 30-40% cloudy / 60-70% clear. So that’s a good sign.

even if they really are shocked and going to produce way under their capacity, this is the most bud I’ve ever seen.

Today was moving day. My Chem 91 was starting to get too big. If I had waited much longer I would be going the branch snapping route and I'm not a fan of that. So I moved her into my flowering tent. The first photo is prior to lollipopping her. The next three are with her in the flowering tent. I wanted to get this done yesterday. But damn if football didn't start at 9:00am and go non-stop through 11:00PM yesterday. Those London games throw a damper on plans sometimes. As always my photos are pretty bad, but there you go.

Thanks ChefD! I checked in on her a bit ago and she's not sure she's liking my QB at full strength. I'll have to keep an eye on her and might have to dim it for a few days and gradually work it back up to full brightness.

Thanks @ChefDGreen and @Emilya for that great discussion!

I am using the HSO Chemdawgs as my third grow and I am trying to apply all these things to get Frost Rails this time around.

I realize now that selective topping and defoliation must be done in veg. I realize now I was doing too much topping ... I was trying to keep every bud on every branch ... I was not letting the branches stretch ... and I accidentally broke branches.

This discussion prevented me from flipping too early ... and I am now trying to stabilize my plant over the next few weeks to prepare for the flip.

I am actually looking forward to doing an update this Sunday ...

Looks awesome @beez0404 !!!

My one plant has no height, ... so, I may be over training ... maybe I can get some guidance from you guys this Sunday ... and if I get my plant on track ... then maybe I can flip in a few weeks and get good results this time :)

Dinachem (starving and ripening). Good calyx development for a TMW infected plant. Haha. Well it was also revegging when i flipped the switch so it’s understandable. I’m not expecting mega yields compared to my prior runs with it. I’ve pulled 180gr per plant in 5 gallons which wasn’t bad. Ripening a little early but we’ll see. I normally expect it to go for another month.

The star of this grow is the Northern Lights so far (the one closest to the camera). Blue Kush is not bad either (the one on the left-back). Well actually Dinachem is pretty solid also (right-back). I did actually had to stake it to keep it straight. Well i can’t wait.

looking great there Crimson! Everything is coming along nicely and your girls look really nice and healthy.

@SQl2kGuy it’s an important lesson and I hope you learn from my mistakes and avoid doing what I did (even though my plants seem to be fattening up still :cheesygrinsmiley: )

hey @The Bard ! Remember that clone I chopped in half to reshape back in September, the one that I’m going to use as a bonsai mom?

well she’s finally gotten out of her funk. Check her out today!
