What's In Jim's Grow Room?

Hey there Jim... She's ^^^ a she... looks pretty healthy too! Great job in the VEG tent there buddy! All the girls look good.

The LAB will be pretty once flowers.

I see you're giving living soil a go... go easy on the guano gear. What it does is messes with the micro-herd in the soil. We need the micro-herd to help turn the nutrients in the soil into something the plants can uptake.

Sometimes I will use it but usually late in flower and on a plant that is suffering something.... usually not enough water which of course is my fault.

EWC + Kelp Meal with water is my goto drench... can even add a little of the malted barley ground fine (go easy).

Sometimes I just take a tbs of kelp meal that I grind a re-hydrate and plop a tbs onto the soil and scratch in and water it. It's hard to hurt plants with kelp meal or even a kelp tea, can foiler that on as well. You won't have much nutritional issues with Kelp products.

Good luck with the young ones... clone thing is working for ya. For me I've found some strains are harder to clone and take longer to root. I always have that issue with Chemdawg. I don't get 100% from those cuttings. There are other strains I can just put in a cup of water and a week later roots. Not sure why that is....

Plants will be taking off .... won't be long you'll need a seat belt!! Good job and good luck.

Thanks for stopping by Bob. I didn't know that the bird poop would poop on my microbes. Bastages. I don't give any to them in veg but use it only in the bloom tent but will use it sparingly from now on. I'm operating substantially above my pay grade as it is and attempting a new pot size. It's all good. I understand the concept of feeding the soil not the plant.

In the veg room I'm using kelp with a little cal mag in the water. They all had a nice shot of AACT a couple weeks ago.

I noticed an issue this morning in the bloom tent. Pakistan Valley is about 27 inches and BD is 25 all measured from the floor. My light is only about 10 inches above that. There's plenty of head room for those plants but as I move it up with the stretch, the light will eventually be too high above any new entrants. What to do?

I've always wanted some Cobs so I ordered a Cree fixture from Timber this morning that I hope will fill the gap there. I'll move the Mars slightly off center and mount this Model 1CL to the side and possibly below the Mars. I need to adjust the Mars up slightly anyway as the PVs are already begun to stretch a bit. Then I will put new plants in under the Cobs. It'll be somewhat of a juggling act the way these veg girls are progressing but I'll have some versatility.

I wasn't planning to spend any money but the market has been busting it for months now and I can't take it with me. I'm just hoping that just adding that one light won't trip the breaker at a 100 w draw or create a heat issue. We shall see.

High MJ.
I see you jumped into the cree cob world. Cob-grats. :)
You are going to see that the quality and intensity is real nice.

I see you are encountering some height issues due to non uniform canopy.
If I am hearing this right, you gonna need to boost the lil ones up.
I would use buckets for height and wire shelves between for your shelf.

I did one grow where soil was heavily pre-fertilised with bat guano and other stuff. Let's call it supersoil style for the sake of argument. Plants liked it and the harvest was abundant. However mould was everywhere although not in significant ratio and taste was sub par to my earlier and later grows. Visual ash test also revealed more heavy metals in the bud.

It doesn't mean it won't work if you scale it down to minimum, but typically with bat guano you introduce to much phosphorus, which stops funghi from operating on a normal level and that is kinda counterproductive to what LOS tries to achieve. It also adds too much potassium and too much nitrogen that have weakening effect on your plant and create fluffier buds.

Too be really honest the biggest advantage of bat guano is its high Ca/Mg content, but with other cations in the mix it cannot be tapped into by the plant, so it mostly flows around.

One more thing to consider is its breakdown time, cause phosphorus though plentiful gets released at a very slow rate of about a 1% a month, cause this is organic in the end, but also in solid, mineral form.

And last but not least bat guano harvesting, which happens mostly in Asia, has a destructive effect on the ecosystem. This is something to ponder as well.

Wow....You guys are the best teachers a man can get. I was looking closely at the girls in the bloom tent and I'm really liking the blossom development. It's likely that I won't need any more Budswel.

Just to be clear, I'm not really LOS as I recycle and amend so I really do mishandle the microbes at some point. I've attempted to add my AACT to every pot early complimented at some point with another microbe brew and oxygenated water.

A few shots from the Bloom Tent this morning. They were moved over there on Jan 18 so I guess Day 9.

Have a great day folks. I have a bit of yard work to do today. :bongrip:

Since the girls looked good this morning I took a bunch of pics but have only posted the bloom girls. Here are the girls in the veg tent. I'll probably move UD #1 when her last tipping grows out a bit. I feel pretty good about being able to keep her clone alive. It's been a while for me starting regulars so I just want to preserve the genetics until I can get a taste of this thing. I'm just getting excited. Things are moving right along and I truly love the topping and tipping so that they can move into the room of bloom.

Ultra Dawg #2 & #3 - Day 38
These are suffering from that same "lack of root space" that UD 1 did. I'll move them to a 2 gal softie soon.

Fast n Vast x Master Kush x Panamas - Day 40

These five plants have really impressed me. They're pretty and so far very easy to grow.

No roots yet for the cuts. Cold temperatures aiding in the delay. Calls for some patience...yeah!

So we have had a couple of gorgeous days with today hitting 72 F. After I finished raking the yard I took the little convertible out for some top down wind therapy.

Now just chilling into my evening with a little Amherst Sour Diesel and some pain cream. :bongrip:

Sounds like a good day. looking good mate :passitleft:

The problem with UD calling for bigger pot, which is something I haven't experienced myself, but I figured it after other indoor growers spotted it, is that this strain hasn't been exactly bred for indoor growing and F1 has been grown in the ground only. That is rare on your side of the pond in general, but also makes a strain that wants as much root space as it's possible ASAP, which is something you just need to run along with. On the other hand you'll see that stretch is minimal and fits right into vertical limit of a tent.

Good merry morning to you there Jim sir, caught up a bit pg15 and what a thoroughly good read so far, quite impressed with attention to detail. Very well done, I would like to attempt your oil infusion method with some street skunk which I found to be enjoyable. Need to fetch some first. Hope you don't mind if and when I might ask a question or 2 if uncertain...

Happy thc induced well being and positive vibes for the coming day good man.......

High Smeegol. Ask away my friend. I'm happy to help any way I can. I'm still learning a bit about infused oil myself. I'm going to make an infused oil soon strictly to combat my muscle cramps. It will be a combination of decarbed and fresh buds infused without any heat. It will likely take me a couple of months but it should be worth waiting for.

It might not even be necessary as I haven't suffered any leg cramps since I've been using the pain cream I made. But I discount that because the cramps are more probable during warmer weather and more physical activity. We'll see.

Your vibrations have ripples. You should feel them heading back your way.

:circle-of-love:

I amended about 10 gallons of my recycled mix this morning. I didn't have a bunch of EWC but we'll see how this goes. Most of the last run mix was used this morning when I up-canned UD #2 and #3 into some #2 softies. NC Dept. of Agriculture provides free soil tests April through November so I'll test it a little later this year.

Organic growing....I'm lowering my expectations to have beautiful plants throughout this grow. Hell, I don't think I've ever kept them pretty all the way through. The goal is to have some killer produce at the end. That's really all I ever wanted when I started growing these babies 2 1/2 years ago. I'll likely always be in some type of learning curve here.

Throw back pic of my first plant August 2015

All is well for today though. I did manage to tear the end of a leaf on Labyrinth. :hmmm::kisstwo:

Have a great day folks. I've gotten a lot of stuff done today but have some cleaning to do.

I don't know how many times I lost track of the thread and back paged ...:volcano-smiley:, that's just been 53 pages of mind blowing information. I've had 2 back ops since Nov 14, and scheduled for a fusion this June. The Bd and PV have just made it onto my list of 1 being Fire OG Kush which is excellent med properties I've read and heard from a mutual connection. ..:Namaste:

Funny how when following a persons journal you indirectly get to know the other players on this :420: chess board we all move around.
Honestly cheers everyone and you mr. Jim sir, canna wait for the next installment of Jims Canna Soapies...:bravo::bravo::bravo:

Howdy brother M.J. ladies coming along nicely.
Thanks everyone for such great input. Great tread growing on here.
:Namaste:

I'm loving all the input. bobrown14 exposed me to pheromones this morning.

When trimming the undersides of one of the UDs I cut a short branch off near the bottom and was nearly knocked over by the pungent odor of cat piss. Whatever she was trying to tell her fellow plants was like music to me. I love that smell in an odd sort of way. Cheers DK :bongrip:

Real nice veg tent....every plant w/ healthy green & so well shaped. :good job: :Namaste:

Thanks BL. I'll be tipping some more branches today in my attempt to try to envision a plant size in this amount of soil. Actually they all are somewhat challenging since I've not grown them before. But that's always true so I can't use that as a crutch.

Another Chemdawg wake n bake. :bongrip:

Awesome on the COBs from Timber... you will be happy you spent your hard earned cash! Yeah buddy market is absolutely killing it. Has been for a while now. I had to retire, was doing better way better actually just staying at home watching my plants grow.

I'm catching up so will read more ... what lamp did you get from Timber?? I found they draw less electricity and give off a lot less heat and more light than any of my Mars gear does. I've got one of there top lamps too... is too hot for me in summer time and heats up an unheated VEG space nicely this time of year. The COBs in my flower room I have heat in there and temps are like 68-78F range ... this time of year. I have to close the door to to the flower room to keep RH up tho!

Yeah with the guano - too much can hurt your yields depending on how much phosphorous it contains... and the NPK thing for guano is well a guess at best. Why I try not to use it unless I feel I really need to. I'm not sure when that is..... likely the "want" far exceeds any "need".

The guano thing is really just a cannabis grower thing... not too many organic gardeners/farmers use the stuff at all and they have access to it CHEAP at the feed store. Mainly it sits on the shelf. There's better sources of phosphorus. You can use it just go easy...

For those VEG plants that went pretty long... normal stuff... once they get a new home and some fresh soil and a light change they will perk back up like nothing happened and then you have a very large plant to deal with. What I do with mothers is clone her and put her into flower instead of keeping her around. Just keep rotating clones, toss if you get too many. I try and only keep clones for 2 - 2 1/2 months max or they need a lot of work to keep them going so may as well flower them.

For LOS soil... that's soil as we know it... pretty much how I do it same as you, you're spot on. Recycle, amend and introduce more micro-herd. I like to introduce some new humus as an amendment. Gives the mirco-organisms something to chew on.

All the ladies and girls are looking good... Moms are perking up VEG girls are catching up little by little... pretty soon you'll have a room full or more!

G/L with the clones... they will catch up to the VEG plants in no time!

Nice weather down there... its snowing and windy today here in Philly brrrrrrr. Just walked the dogs face hurts from wind blown snow.
