Welcome All My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Canna M & Nismo12 Team Up!

Long time no see (was pretty busy). What a show here! All the flavors and smells, hmm must be lovely. The organics are making some comeback! I'm talking with my local growstore owner and he swears by his Canna bottle, but I hope I will get him to try my organic buds some time. I got my COBs on the way, finally! So how is the PS in the terms of GPW? The trichs on the fan leaves are amazing to watch and I wish you the best Canna and Nis! What a bliss. Cheers! :bravo:  :Namaste:

The last couple days I have been reading up on fanleafs cob build and I am extremely interested. Talking about 1 - 1.9 gpw?! The highest we have had was .82 gpw and I thought that was decent. The only problem is the amount of money it would cost and trying to justify a few grand to build a light at this point in time. Could go smaller and cheaper but I would not be happy with that. As for the PS1000 I can say that it is a good light but I am having my doubts about the light movers. I don't think the plants are getting enough light. The buds are smaller than what we have harvested before. Much smaller. 3 things changed during this grow.

1. High brix
2. Light movers
3. Spider mites

So if the mites are gone then we will be able to see for sure if the lights on movers would be sufficient. Having said that, once everything is dry I'll get a final gpw for ya. Had 3 under the ps1000 and 4 under the Amare se450. 7 plants under less than 1000 actual watts of power and and comes out to 15-20 watts a sq. Ft....

Nis,...ya ,..about light movers....you will NOT get the same solid bud structure and size with a 'mover'. There is a compromise you must be OK with , to use one. Think about it bud....what's brighter and more intense ? Next crop try an experiment, one side of the room gets the mover , other side gets another light added and is stationary. Waddaya think will have the bigger and frostier buds and colas...ya ,...you guessed it . just my 2 on movers . Always liked the idea but , also wondered if the compromise would be worth it. Cheers Nis!

That's exactly my issue. We will have a ton of smaller Colas but not the big ones that we are used to. It's more upsetting than you know. We have another light we could put in there but it still wont be enough. We need more light if we want to play in the big leagues. Thanks duggs.

Mites will effect yield for sure. If using a mover, maker sure the light is "too strong" to not move.

Finally, smaller buds don't necessarily mean they have less weight.....

The PS1000 is said to need a mover so right now it is over the DC clones only and is traveling 36" to just cover it it will now have constant light coverage. So we will see since she has little to no mites. It is very Pest resistant I have noticed so that is a plus.

The buds are smaller than the 1/2 oz tops that we are used to but one thing is for certain, trichome production and resin are through the roof. Just popped in the drying tent and yeah...I'm hoping to sample this this weekend.

In a "low brix" grow, potassium will puff up the buds.....but they won't weigh more than the calcium rich HB buds, which should be much more dense. Then there's the resin.

I think mites are robbing you more than your lights.....but I always use DOUBLE the amount of LED as recommended. Now, the double ended HPS....my Gavita's.....now those are some powerful lights! I use double on those too.

So my GPW is probably lower because I have so many watts! Then again, I get a premium price for everything and again, there's the quality issue.

A lot will be happening in the garden this weekend. We will be culling 4 of the birds of paradise, 2 or 3 ended up being male, so we have picked the best one that looks like it will scrog the best and will be transplanted. The hash plant will also be transplanted into a 7 since it has a decent root ball.

They will grow for a couple weeks, take some clones, then the moms will go into flower so we can get an idea on how they will flower as a heads up for when they go into the troughs. Will be a few updates this weekend. Stay tuned!

Nis, did you notice what Doc said there , about his lighting?? He uses twice the recommended light for his grows...so do i , and i swear by it. We(him and I)have taken that 'limiting factor' out of the grow. What Doc said about the HB resin plants vs. non HB is true...there will be a lil more weight at the end with the HB buds cuz of maximum (or close to it) resin development:) Maybe what you could look at doing is to shorten the travel on that big light and slip another one in there ...still utilizing the mover but not relying on it to cover such a big area....dunno , waddaya think Nis?...Cheers bud!

Also note that if you can add some UVB 10.0 T5s it will boost the trichs and give you more broad spectrum. Make sure you protect yourself tho!

The Amare light has an UVB bulb on it and that is the light that the tutankhamon and blue dream were under and they have a ridiculous amount of trichomes.

Was thinking about putting both the PS 1000 and the Amare on the same mover. Then we would have enough light over the troughs since those lights would each be covering 4x4 rather than 8x4. Have 4 - 6 weeks until the troughs will be put into flower. Maybe we will have some thought of for the other side of the room.

Two things about lighting ...

There's a measure called Daily Light Integral (DLI) that's a better measure of how much light the plants want/need. It's the intensity x daily hours. So in the case of a powerful light on a mover, the intensity directly under the light has to be greater than average to make up for the time it's at the fringes.

And adding more light only helps if there isn't a weak link in humidity or pest control or soil health, etc. - always gotta fix the weakest link first.

:Namaste:

[Edit] - After reading this again, I don't think I really made my point. A lot of light can actually be a stressor. The intensity of a very bright light can be too much while it's over the plant, and more light in general can do the same thing. I had plenty of light for my last run but I had humidity and pest problems, so I think the extra light actually harmed the plants. :hmmmm:

Yes Gray , the 'limiting factors'. The "weak link" Everyone's goal should be to remove those those factors, and take them out of the equation. This is when, and only when 'true plant potential' can be had,....muhaha:)

Haha, true. The high brix desert oasis style of growing :)

Re: Welcome All My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Canna M & Nismo12 Team Up!

Okay I'm gonna bust right in here if the masses wouldn't mind, please.
Question isn't HB relevant.. well could be, I pose; statement first,
I have five baby mothers that were two to three weeks in flower when I started a reveg. Now after almost three weeks they are staying to show three leaves and a couple have five, they are all only around fifteen inches give or take 6 inches on a couple.

Question is, What is the best way to get em to stretch under 600 HPS or 600 M/H, so I can take as many clones as possible as soon as possible ?
Please remember I have sort of monster cropped here so I have very compacted growth.
Later y'all have a great night.
Thank you

Oh yeah just so you guys know, if you haven't already figured it out, I have only ground small plants since I started inside. I have always needed smoke so early harvest is a regular round here. Hard to keep up when you have to have..... So much alla time.
But we're in a major transition as usual.
Reason for such little plants.
Great days on the near horizon.
Great luck and great days

Raise the light and dial it back to 50% on the ballast. They will stretch then, for sure. With our clones you can tell which ones have been on the outside perimeter of our light coverage since they are a little more lanky and a few inches taller.
