Weenmeoff's Inside Soil Alien Abduction Grow Journal

Hmm. I guess I thought nanners were seeds. I see they are growths that look like bananas. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks!

Here's a pic of a male with the pollen sacks ("nanners") so you can see what they look like. They'll be fewer and harder to spot on a hermy, but be diligent! You don't want those pollen sacks opening! If they do, EVERYTHING in your grow room will get seeded and you'll need to sterilize the whole space to make sure your next grow doesn't pick up any of the pollen, either.

I posted this in another thread hope it helps

I had a light i would use for pics in flower i forgot it on through lights out once, never again though i plug it into the timer. I didn't have any problems with hermies.

Thanks for the photo Red and for stopping by! I'm keeping my eyes out for nanners. Let's hope I find none!

I went to buy a bigger dehumidifier and already have the biggest available at the big box store, 70 pints per day. The guy I talked with said it's probably because my garage is not insulated enough and that was spot on so I'll be looking at adding insulation where I can. In the mean time, I bought a $15 mini portable dehumidifier which does not seem to be doing anything yet. I have it down to 58-60 ish.

I've been running a window ac with the tent intake duct hooked up to the front because tent temps were getting up to about 90. Now it's running between 70-77ish.

I clipped small samples from all 3 clones today, loosely wrapped them in foil with a bunch of holes poked in the foil and put them on the cable box. The expectation is it will have an uplifting effect since its early. Will let you know once it's dry/smoked.

I clipped a bunch of yellow leaves along with some green ones too and could probably clip a bunch more. They look pretty good since I watered the other day with calmag and also foliar feeding at lights out a mix of calmag and flowers kiss.

Pretty amazing buds there. When he's talking about 8, 10 and 12 week strains he is talking about the flower duration correct? He said that plant was planted in February and that was may, that's almost as much time as I have into my plants and I'm still a little bit away from flipping. I need more practice/experience....

So no sign of nanners and hoping it stays that way. Smoke report from my GF of buds clipped yesterday on day 53 of a 64 day strain (found this info with an internet search), taste not great (quick dry) but also not that bad, good lung expansion, immediate high that was heady, euphoric, good energy and pretty f'ing stoned. That was after 3 hits and then after 2 more an hour later, a little forgetful and munchies.

Found more info about strain online,
Alien Abduction is an OG Kush hybrid bred by So-Cal medical collective Ocean Grown Genetics, who crossed an Alien OG male with the Ether cut of Alien Dawg. These seeds have been highly sought after by growers, as they are known to have great germination rates and multiple excellent phenotypes, all of which are robust and vigorous plants. Most phenotypes exhibit typical OG Kush smells and flavors, and pack a high-THC punch that combines a potent head buzz with a strongly sedating body high. For many patients, Alien Abduction is a great appetite stimulant and sleep aid.

What constitutes a top? I counted 32 on one plant but that seems pretty high, this included the smaller ones. Same pic as above.

So the budding clones are on day 54 of about 64. Should I start flushing?

If so, do I pour 3 times pot size through and ph it to about 6.5 and how often?

I don't have sledgehammer but will go out and get it if recommended.

Got my ppm meter and soil moisture/ph meter! Water from tap is 340, not sure if that is good or bad. Soil ph looks to be about 7.

Flushing advice?

Give it a few minutes ween. Some one'll be by. If no one shows soon, take this question to someone like arteekay and Jay or Pigeons. I don't know this style of cultivation at all.

Flushing advice?

I was trying to give time to the soil growers to chime in because flushing can be somewhat of a controversial topic as to how/when/what, etc. However, let me give you a couple of options that people will use:

1) Flush with plain water 2-3 times the volume of the soil

2) Flush with plain water until the runoff PPM reaches 120 or lower

3) Flush with plain water until significant (at least 80%-90%) runoff is achieved

4) Use a flushing Agent

There are probably more! :)

I should add, like most other things, there is no "right or wrong" way, necessarily. The objective is to get the nutrients out of the soil so the plant can use up some stored nutrients and you're not smoking smoking what goes into their feedings. So, if you're concerned, you can always flush with MORE. Many people don't flush at all (not that I would recommend this!), and many people gradually throttle down the nutrients towards the end of the flower cycle to try to avoid "shocking" the plant by suddenly removing the nutes. I'm not sure what works best for soil.

In hydro, I run Clearex for an hour or two then give plain water for a few days and they're flushed! ;)

I just use strait tap water and run 3 to 5x the volume through it about a week or so before. Ph'ing isn't necessary imo cause your just flushing out the buildups not trying to feed. Hope it makes sense

Thanks Dirt! It'll be easier to do these as they are in #3 and one is in a #2. Plus they only received one round of nutes, probably something I should do more of with the bigger plants. They just never seemed like they needed watered and my nutes schedule calls for feed, water, water.

Thanks Krip! So my well water ppm is 340 is that a bad thing and would I ever be able to get below 120 flashing with it? Do I need to start buying RO?

I'd be much more concerned with that 340ppm during feedings than I would for flushing, but you're correct, you will not get the PPM's below the PPM's of the water used.

The issue with the 340 PPM's during veg & flower is you don't really know what's in that 340 PPM's, and, if you want to feed your plants at 800PPM's, technically that 340 needs to be considered, so it only leaves 460PPM's of nutrients (you can identify and control!) that you're actually giving your plants.

IMHO, it's less of an issue for a flush, although, I'm sure all "purists" will tell you that you should run and buy an R/O system.

But, here's the deal...

While, to do a "proper" flush you probably should at least use some filtered water (even if it didn't read zero on a TDS meter), if you run out and buy X-gallons of filtered water to do a flush, what are you going to use to water your plants for the next couple of weeks?

My recommendation would be, if it's cheap and easy enough, get yourself some lower PPM water. You can probably pick up a filter for your hose for about $20. If not, just put enough well water through the pots to get out as much as possible since, whatever is in your well water, I'm sure you've smoked worse! :)
