Glad you shut down the root party! All still appears to be healthy. I have a full bag of FFOF in my garage. I better use it before bugs in it.

I have a rebel xti with a macro lens but honestly do not have a clue how to use it so I just use my iphone lol. I hate to sound pushy, but is there any chance you can maybe give me a brief overview of how you do it? I just look at my camera and automatic setting is all I understand lol. I also have photoshop but am not very good with this kinda shit at all lol. If it's your special secret, or your just busy I understand bro :passitleft:


p.s...obviously your garden looks spectacular like always!!! Apparently your plants aren't minding the gnats at all!!:bravo:

I'm pretty sure it is.
Lot's of people order seeds to Canada from all over the world without any issues.
I think it has more to do with how it's packaged, and labelled.
If it says "Cannabis seeds" on the package then customs might hold it for a while.
But from all the stories I've heard, they all end up getting through at some point..

It's no secret really.
Although I do have a little background in photography, maybe it just seems easy for me.
I use a Canon G11 for most of my MJ photos. But I use it on full manual.
The best way to understand your camera and how it can work for you, is to take it off the automatic settings and play around with the manual settings. Another trick is to use aperture or shutter speed priority. Aperture priority (AV) lets you choose what aperture (lens opening) while the camera automatically picks a shutter speed to go with it, giving a correct exposure. Shutter speed priority (TV) is the exact opposite where you pick a shutter speed and the camera picks an aperture to to give a correct exposure.
A good starting point is to always make sure you have a good white balance. Consult your manual, or you can download pretty much any manual online. With your camera I think you have to go in and manually set the K rating which tells the camera how warm or cold the image should be. By playing around with your K you're basically telling the camera how hot or cold you want the image to appear. make sense? It's like using your Method Seven HPS glasses inside your camera.
With macro shots, you want the largest F stop (smallest lens opening) to make sure you have a good depth of field when close up. Example, F11 will give you way more depth of field than say F4 will. Giving more focus to the subject in front and behind your focusing point. A smaller F stop say F2.8 or F4 will give you what's considered a shallow depth of field where the image focus drops off in front and behind the focusing point.

With that being said, another important thing is to make sure you have a fast enough shutter speed to go along with your aperture or all your shots will be wavy gravy.
The slowest shutter speed for hand holding is usually 1/125th of a second. (and that's holding the camera really still) so to not go too much lower than that. Another way to help you always have a higher shutter speed is to bump up your ISO to like 400. But remember the higher ISO you go, the less sharpness your final image is going to be. I try to aim for around ISO 200, F8 @ 1/250th of a second. This is what seems to give me the best photos. But every shot is different.

I could go into all of this way deeper if yourself and other people are interested. But for now play around a bit with what I have told you. And we'll go from there. I don't want to overwhelm you with too much info. lol

Oops! I'd been a little medicated and forgot about mentioning dunks to you previously, also. I'm always blathering on about them (seems we all get FGs around here sooner or later). House plants, over-watered by well meaning spouses (for example), are often great Fungus gnat breeding grounds. I've brought them home from the hydro store, i think, too. As you mention not if, when! Oh, and they love hydro too (many hydro guys think they're immune... 'til they get them!)

I decided to pop some beans, and theyve just poked their heads up, So I am not sure if Ill keep em yet, I am thinking that if I do - I may Veg them only with CFL's and try to get a nice healthy,lush plant.
Think my MH ballast is screwed, or globe, but yeah Ive seen great results vegging with CFLs and have done so myself upto a point, then I usually stik em under my MH, But i may try to Veg to about 3ft with Cfl's and then flip one and see what I get:) I like Surprises.. especially ones with weed!!

Hey Vick, I stumbled upon your journal and glad I did. Beautiful plants! Sorry to hear about bug problems, I hate bugs! You gotta prevent them from starting, kill them in veg, or fight them everyday in flower. Ugh! Anyway, nice journal and good skills ;-)
