Just to be clear, im not saying scrog isnt a good thing and im not saying vicks porta scrogs arent great either. I'm just pointing out why i feek scrog doesnt yield more over all when u factor in multiple grows and time. Scrogs definately give high yields but the time it takes to get them actually means IMO u get less over time than other methods.

But again, im just trying to get a small debate going on if it really is better overall. I guess its down to grow space, strain, personal prefence and ease to handle.

But hey vick, ur growing great so why change it bro? I should have kept my mouth shut haha

It really does come down to many different factors no doubt.
People really have to decide for themselves how or how not it will benefit their grow and style..

Fast drive thru. Plants are looking fantastic. I can't see any problem getting 6 oz's per. They really filled out them screen nicely. And in my speed reading congrad's on keeping the PM out. Looking foreward to seeing you get another fine stash of med's. Keepem Green

To scrog or not to scrog! It's a good debate. I reckon they're great for small spaces but still trying to work it out for myself. I'm doing my first one and what I get in yield will be the key factor, but I have been thinking.... I got 2oz off an auto in 75 days or so from seed to harvest. The current grow was vegged for about that before flipping and will be another couple of months before harvest, so a total of 4 months+ I reckon will be the total time. I'm thinking I could get 4-5oz from my space (but that's purely a guess), which would work out roughly the same in terms of yield vs time. I might be surprised and get a lot more (though I doubt it, particularly cos its only a 125w cfl). It's more fun because its more hands on than an auto and I think overall quality is likely to be better because the canopy will be more even and get better light distribution (and it's a reg, not ruderalis) but there is a part of me thinking that overall I may not get any more in the amount of time than if I just grew back to back autos. But that's my space limitations and set up.

With a bit more space and a perpetual grow copying Vick's porta-scrog, I reckon that would be the nuts. Train them into the screen over a couple of months and wheel them into flower as you wheel a couple out for harvest. 3'x3' porta scrog units on rotation. Once fully up and running and in sync.... Booooooom!

Great stuff! I have not used a scrog so its hard for me to comment from an experience standpoint. I will say that It looks like a pain in the....Seems as if you might get a better yield from doing several autos. Good strains of course. This is based on your grow space. I will always grow a few autos. They are reliable enough and quick enough to miss out on some problems. I do like the hands on I have with my regs. They sure do act different. I will add that some of the scrogs I have seen here are nice and neat. Sorry I am an OCD freak. I either obsess on stuff or completely ignore it. No in between. Sucks for me... If I ever get a huge space one day I will try it.

The porta scrogs I have seen here are awesome. Looks so interesting and I see the need but gonna wait till I have the experiment space.

That last pick is so clear and awesome, so many little clear mushrooms. What type of camera did you use?


Have you seen that guy on youtube that grows in coco HygroHybrid?

He did this experiment with Miracle Grow tomatoe feed, coco, and just tap water, un Ph'ed. It grew very well. It watered it once a week with 1/2 tablespoon of Miracle Grow and every other time it needed water, just plan tap water. He never ph'd anything. He was surprised by the results.
