And probably have crap quality, shitty hood, cheapo bulb.

Last thing you want is a leaky ass hood with hot spots of reflection and a ballast that goes poof.

I really do prefer to buy quality components in this area.

they have kits with quality hoods you just have to shop around,thares lots with cool tubes not sure if that will work for Vick or not,just a suggestion

I just realized an issue. The trigger on your link item is awesome. But that means all lights are on same schedule. I don't want that. I want to have flowering periods 1 month apart in two grows, and on diminishing schedule.

So I assume there are 240v timers out there somewhere, but would they be able to plug in with a cord, on said box to set timing on that dedicated light?

you could use these with regular 240v 30 amp plugs.just run 2 lines from a junction box where that dryer plug is to your rooms.I would'nt go anymore than 2 1000's per room.

You can make 2 110 circuits from that 220. Put a jbox there and fuse each circuit.

Hey Bassman59, First, be careful with electrical work. Always err on the side of caution!

That being said, You can definitely use that unused dryer circuit. I suspect it's 30A, so should be 10g wire. That should work well. Do you have an idea how much power you need in your room? 30A @ 240V is a LOT of power. You could run 6,000W on that. If you think you will only be running 3000W, you should consider lowering the breaker value. Imagine one of your devices shorts out and is pulling 20A after shorting. This won't trip the breaker, but it will likely start a fire. In other words, size your breaker to how much power you intend to use.

Also, if you don't need 220, you could run 2 seperate 120V circuits from that plug. On that plug, you have both phases from your breaker panel, so it's essentially 2 circuits. You would just change the breaker to be 2 singles instead of the type with the bar across both phases. If you're not sure how to do this, please please ask someone you trust that knows about electrical.

If you are ever in doubt about something, stop and ask for help! I'm not an electrician, so take my advise for what it's worth. I've wired up several grow ops from 1 light, to multiple rooms with multiple 1000's in each. No fires so far.

that goes to a 30 amp 240 volt breaker Bass,its a dryer plug.It should have its own breaker so all you do is shut the breaker off,remove that plug, install a junction box and run your lines where you need them and attach a 2 or 4 plug.you will have to open your ballast and switch them to 240v its 1 wire says 240 right on it.switch it out with the one that says 120v and your good to go

But with 30 amp service and 220v I could conceivably run 4 lights. With 15 amp and 110, only 2 lights.

In a perfect world, I'd like to plug into that wall plug above a 220 junction box with 20 feet or so to 4 x 220v outlets. This would allow 4 lights for future, even if I only want to run two now.

I'm not sure what you meant by "plug into". I'm envisioning some sort of hacked together extension cord, but I hope not.

I think Jon is saying, and I agree, is turn the box that plug is in, into a junction box. You will just hold onto the plug and you can put it right back in when you move out. From that box, you run a wire to your room to another junction box. Then add your outlets. The 240V outlets I bought didn't have extra posts to daisy chain more outlets. I'm actually not sure if I've ever seen one with like that, but it's been awhile since I did anything with 240V. All that means is you will have 4 wires coming out of your junction box, each going to it's own outlet. That is how mine is setup. I thought I would be running 4 lights in my room, but ended up only running 3.

If you only need this circuit for lights that run on 220, your plan should work fine. As long as you have a 120 circuit(s) available to power all the other things you need, ie fans, AC, (de)humidifiers, etc

Well, kinda yes kinda no.

When I said plug into, I mean:

Make a junction box with a male plug on say a 3-4 ft cord that plugs into that wall dryer outlet.

Exiting the junction box is heavy ass wiring to another junction box with 4 x 220v outlets some 20 odd feet away near the rooms.

I would plug in each 220v timer, specifically this apollo 5 for each lite.

3 wires are still grounded Bass,usually black white and copper for ground.those timers you posted are 110v so you could split that 220 into 2 110's with a sub panel or junction box and leave your lights wired the way they are,that would work fine too.
