Have you tried sketchup? It has a free basic version online.

I downloaded it a few hours ago.
It's pretty difficult to use being new to it.
But they have tons of tutorial videos to help you learn.

I designed a grow dresser with it a few years ago, you can see the picture in my photos or under my info in profile. Dude i know what you mean by difficult, it took me forever to make my layout and get everything right. Thank god for YouTube.

So I downloaded this amazing CAD program to try my hand at designing a new room for my next grow.
It was such a pain in the ass to learn, but with all the Youtube video tutorials, it made it lot easier to understand. It was basically like trying to figure out Final cut pro, or Photoshop in a few hours.
A few vape hits, and 3 hours later I had it figured out enough to come up with these.
The room that I designed is pretty much identically to scale from measurements I took.. What you can't see in the screenshots is that the ceiling slopes down towards the opening @ 6 foot 5 inches. I just couldn't be bothered to figure out how to get the ceiling to slope. So try to imagine it with the far wall (where the plants are) @ 7 foot 8 inches, sloping down to the opening @ 6 foot 5 inches. That's why I didn't design it following the length of the room. (lights wouldn't be even..)
So what do ya think?

Now this is how I want to set it up!
The lights would have their own dedicated fan, sucking in cold air from outside, then vented out. Then the room would be sealed (as much as possible) scrubbed through the charcoal filter sitting in the corner, then exhausted out with it's own fan. The walls and floor would have to be poly'ed. Plan on running 2- 1000 watt quantum dimmable ballasts, but dialed down to 500. Unfortunately the old place I live in just doesn't allow me to run both of the lights at full power, or I would be. Would maybe be able to get away with them at 750 watts each, but I'd have to do some figuring where to pull the power from, to not be blowing breakers all the time.
If I do end up figuring it out, I'd like to maybe hang a 250 watt MH vertically in between the hoods.
This is just a basic plan, everything isn't necessarily going to be exactly like these screenshots. But I think it'll be a pretty solid plan to build on.

Shame you are hindered by lights not having enough power to run full blast. That is one f the problems I have with my old house. Major remodeling would have to take place for full power here. Not going to happen.

You did a hell of a good job using a program you're new to. Keep at it Buddy.......you're heading in the right direction for sure.

Kind of a bummer I know,
But we just gotta play the hand we're given.
I think those 2 lights will be able to give me more than I need, probably more than double what the tent is producing.
So, I'll be a happy man.

The plants, hoods, and dude were all in their online catalog.
There's some really cool stuff you can do with this program.
I think just for fun, I'm going to do one with the room just maxed out.
Should look pretty funny.. 7 hoods, 5 vertical bulbs, and the room FULL of plants.
Then just enough room for a guy to stand in the doorway..

looking sweet Vick!! you should check you electrical panel for empty slots or breakers that arent being used.its really simple to run a designated line just for your lights,lots of vids on youtube or I could walk you through it.If your blowing breakers alot then its something you should do bro it means theres to much draw on the breakers and the lines are heating up,thats a fire hazard.what type of heat do you have? if its baseboards then another option is disconnecting the one in your room and installing a proper 220v plug and rewireing your lights.all you do is switch 1 wire in the ballast and they are 220.

yea Bass its impossible to do without cutting small holes here and there to direct the line down.they use this tool,its basically a retractable steel wire they feed down through the first hole and attach the wire to it and pull,once its to the first hole they unhook it and move to the second hole feed the steel line through attach and pull and so on.You would have holes all over the place bro.I was thinking more along the lines of strait up through the floor,the only holes you have are in the floor(very easy to fix when you move)theres ways to disguise wires like paint or plants or pictures ect.depending on what your flooring is all you do is match the color to some caulking when you want to remove it for the floors(Ive done this in rentals,if you do a good job its really hard to notice it) and a little mud and paint for the ceilling.

I dont think so Bass,the chances of finding a line that you could pull out that doesnt have at least one junction box are pretty slim.and with all the turns and bends through the walls you would more than likely get snagged along the way.even if you could how would you know you didnt srip a section of wire possibly causing a fire hazzard somewhere along the way if you cant see the wire.

I'm pretty sure that running more wires up through 2 floors is out of the question. It is a rental we're living in, and the house is super old..
The house has been updated to gas heating, so the baseboard idea is out too.
Besides, unplugging our oven and running a wire all the way up the stairs, I'm not sure what else I could do?
I'll have a look at the breaker box today to give you a better idea of what I'm working with.

jon, What about replacing the actual breaker that's prone to blow, with one to handle more wattage??
That way all the work could be done at the box, and wouldn't have to swiss cheese the walls trying to run new wires up 2 floors.
I mean don't get me wrong, I really don't know anything about domestic electrical, just looking for options..
