Suweet!!! any time now. I'll probably miss the post if your going to harvest on the 3rd. family weekend cleaning stuff. lol I'll be checking in though.

looking good man. that jack bud is phenominal. That volde looks great too! Nice work man! how does she smoke?

Keep up the great work! hows the nose? healing well I hope.

All good here. I'm sure you won't miss anything too exciting. Knowing me and that weekend - its gonna be harvested at a slow pace. That's the day after I get back from Phish shows and weekend of the 4th. Gonna be hectic.

Nose is doing fine, thanks. Feels like I have a cold all the time - but no big deal.

cant wait to try out your srog set up! gl on the harvest!!

:popcorn::peace::popcorn:

Thanks, bro! I can't wait to see it. I love watching other folks scrog. Especially a first scrog. Its really impossible not to have it help a little I think, and most folks are blown away by how much more bud they get per plant. Make sure you let us know when you go for it.

:passitleft:Hey Papa, came by and thought I would share...hoping you would share that sweet looking Volde after....RoorRip I may have to try that stuff someday...I wouldn't journal it though...to much hassle explaining why you can't call it by it's real name. I actually get why though.

That looks to be one amazing harvest brother!

Thanks! As far sa I'm concerned all your plants look as good or better than mine. And your scrog is text book.

Right on! I am really liking that Volde. The naming policy aside (seems funny we can talk about AK-47 but not Barney's L) its a heck of a plant. It is very hard to describe the high. All the regular stuff you'd expect from good stony bud, but there's a weird but very pleasant something else. I can't really describe it. Its very nice though. Frankly its closer to H than L.

uh oh. I hear the bigwigs growling over that one. I too prefer Hops beers over Lagers.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Anyone have any thoughts on the following?

I am debating about doing another scrog like this one, but with a trellis built into the equation from the start. I think I could really get a cube of bud. BUT, it would mean a little longer veg time. Approximately 2 weeks.

The various configs, and there might be combinations.

1 - a good sort of normal one with nice buds across the whole thing and no trellis. That will be ready Monday or Tuesday at the latest. BTW - Lavendar has a great small scrog going. Her canopy is laser level.

2 - Another crazy one that may or may not work and will take longer to get ready? Simply because I will need to fill the screen 100% then flip it, instead of only filling 75%. Not sure if the added time in Veg will equate to 2 weeks more bud. The stuff near the screen is pretty fluffy. Suitable only for hash and cooking.

3 - Also, I will be doing an aero setup I think. I have the res, and some of the other stuff. Not decided whether to do NFT or Jets. I'm leaning towards a simple ebb and flow using pvc tubes and 3" net pots. If I can find square pvc pipe cheap that will be a no brainer.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Have you thought of a vertical ScrOG or a Box of Green style?

Hiya! A man who knows his scrogs! Good to see ya again! And right on queue with a great suggestion. Hmmmm vert or BOG. I just got nicely medicated and your suggestions hit at just the right time.

Now I gotta think on it a little and perhaps some out loud.

By vert you mean flat up and down with light on side and bog you mean in a cage type thing with the light in the middle right?

I actually have another 600 that needs to go into the equation. Perhaps vert scrog(s) is the answer. Maybe just use cheap simple cloth trellis and pvc - could do 5x5x5 box or cube for <$25.

I am pretty medicated.

I think I will use the smaller scrog with the 6 Utopia Haze. And the 1m2 scrog with the next batch of clones I've just taken. They will either go in the aero or an ebb and gro diy.

I'll be starting the UH scrog flowering middle of next week that means. I have done a little LST tonight to prepare them for the scrog.

BTW - I WILL have pics of all this stuff up later. I just got baked and got into the different scrog variations. But actually all the veg areas look really good right now and the moms and the buds. And they are all actually in sync for once, which has taken a while to get to.
:yahoo:

So expect a tour later.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

wow,
i think that is a great idea....combine a vert. and horz scrog....maybe put in a corner and use the open 2 sides to workon it from....amazing idea, always wanted to know if a meter2 would produce what they say? so far mine are sadly lacking that type of production, but i am happy with what i have....wont gripe....esp. after seeing woods bug deliema....how awful....
i already have a net along the back of my room, and a spare ready horz. one...and a plant, a sour diesel that is just begging for "stability"....she grows and flops all over the place, regular lay down artist....great idea p.g.,....you start and i'll follow when i have a space for her....in other words, you figure out all the rough spots, and i'll coast in under the curtain....or so it will seem...by the way, i love the scrog so far, wish we had more room...i figure it set the ruby back about 3 wks in growth, but as she was a loser with production, she is already twice as big as when i usually harvest her, and is only one third done.....thank you for all the help...hugs, lavendar:cheertwo::cheertwo:another brilliant thought from a brilliant mind...yeahhhh to u...

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Folks that's a boatload of Utopia Haze from three plants. But the story gets better...

I think at least half that is ONE PLANT:

Oh, it gets a lot better! Wait till you get a good months cure in. Its only up from there! My wife and I have decided it is by far some of the finest quality cannabis we have ever had.

Everything is looking great man! SCRoG is looking scroggy... looks like you definitely have the haze Pheno with that one photo of the Jack Herer too. I have never experienced it, but hear its very good.

Right On, Lav. Gonna do some thinking and experimenting. I'm trying to think of a way I can move individual plants in and out of the equation. And still get that nice density of buds.

I bet your current scrog will hit the grower's estimates per square m. You may not have a full meter, but I bet the density is there if you extrapolate. Your scrog is really perfect.

Awesome. That's so good to hear. I am definitely liking the stickyness so far. I can't touch the scrog without feeling like I poured syrup on my hand. And I loves me a good cure, and I think I have plenty of smoke to move my schedule back a month finally. As you say - a months cure makes so much difference.

Sooooooo close to the end of the wait for these plants. It took me months to get the seeds, another few months to build the room, another few weeks to get a mom going, and then the actual grow - which has gone 3 weeks long. And I've still not tasted even the tiniest bit. Close. Thanks for the encouragement.

wow, i like the way you think...a living dynamic....good flow, ordered work space....different phases, you know, thats the only way to keep it perpetual, but i have a problem with the strains, i keep having to d/c to try others...somehow i figured i would be able to keep a mom of each, and then when i made up my mind i would be set....doesnt work that way tho....at some point i'll have to pick and choose....somekind of demented logic ... you seem to have that under your thumb also....we are limited to 30, but when you get into it, oh well, somewhere it will end up being 10,10,10....but, i guess it would take a while to get tired of ten...maybe? those buds are indescribable, what do you feed them? lol....DO NOT fall in....they look like they could be man eaters...they are serious....my scrog may look text, but yours is bottom line....thats what counts....im still learning the method....L:cheertwo::cheertwo::peace:

Boy do I sympathize with the moms. I have fluctuated in space and resources allocated to them. The longer I go, the more I find I'm enjoying culling the herd. Basically, now I have 1 of each type I like - the Montana and Jack Herer make great anytime smoke, the Volde is a great heavy Indica, and the UH should be a nice Sativa. I now find that I use them as a standard and it makes the decisions easy. If a strain doesn't measure up to those or compliment them in some way - it goes. I find that all my plants are doing better now that I'm focusing on a smaller variety. Also, it took me a while to understand that I need to trim the hell out of the moms, whether I take clones or not. Its a shame, but I toss about 50 clones a week on the floor.

For hydro, I think you pretty much have to think in terms of groups of plants. For soil you can do individual plants. I really think a flood table with soil is prolly the easiest and most versatile for the basics. But a nice hydro setup is great for busting out a group of 6-60 plants at one time.

You have a great variety and clearly enjoy the different phenos. I believe it was in your strain descriptions that you said you have a strain you harvest early and late. You might be the only person I've ever heard do that, where I believe that they really enjoy the two aspects of the smoke. Most folks are full of horse pucky when they talk about harvesting early.

Its that continual balance of experimenting and comfort. We both love to try new stuff with our gardens, but I think we both can benefit from the physical and mental comfort that comes from growing the same strains again.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

yep, my go to, is always a diesel of some sort....just where i gravitate....eve. i still havent figured out...the thai and haze are also great for me....like go fast naturally....he likes them all, so is no hellp, fond of pineapple kush tho, i like it also, but its not really a kush tho, its a sativa, but i guess the person that named it called it that....or so the books say...it has alot of indica in it, but is hard to get size out of, so we are still wondering around that one...the jack i use both ways...excellent up and down....im also thinking of doing a continental thing, each continent has its own strain(s), usually sativa tho...havent been able to get the yuang from china yet tho...to try...but alot of others...what have you read about thcv....i have one in mind that is crazy with them, and looks good also, but another sativa....an african strain...later, L:popcorn:
