Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm Makes 3 - Perpetual 2000w

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Wow just switched browsers to Chrome. I gotta admit this is faster, and things seem to work better.

No real update. The plants are looking good. The room is operating fine for the 5th day in a row. Even though temps have been as high 90s in day the room has stayed a perfect 79/69. Humidity outside has ranged from rain to 85 but inside has been between 48-58%.

Even res temps have come down a few degrees now that the average ambient temp has dropped.

I made a minor goof up that may be slightly compounded. I accidentally double watered one plant. Then she decided it was finishing time and stopped drinking on her own. She hasn't gotten water for more than a week but the soil remains too damp to flush. A little yellowing going on by herself which is good. If the soil dries in the next day or two everything will be peachy.

That's it from the sub.

:peace:

oops just found a gotcha. The button to make it code/smiles is gone. And the little buttons to make the edit window taller are moved against the menu instead of the corner.

lol, sounds like the Volde is living up to it's true name, huh? makes you wonder. Bout' the Deep Water Culture thing I thought it was about Deep Water Culture/deepwaterculture, but now it seems that most everyone that doesn't grow in dirt wants to be there. It's like a cult in a cult. Don't get me wrong, I mean in no way to dis it, but it's strange. Maybe we should start Ebb&flowHeadz, or MultimediumMates, etc..... I've used (and still use) most mediums out there that people have heard of, and even some that they haven't so I didn't post my Journal there. As a matter of fact, I got Drip, Aero, DWC, and Passive Coir going right now. Shit, most people compliment me on my sweet 'Soil' grow.......It aint soil. It's passive hydro........whats that?.............here we go again. I guess thats the main reason I'm not posting in the BH threads as much. .....But hey, variety is the spice of life, and if you truly understand the nutritional and environmental needs of your plants the learning curve of different methods goes way down. Deep Water Culture is (or is thought to be) so specific, that I just wouldn't know were to start.

I do think that it seperates some of the growers here, but then again, some of us prefer that seperation, and quite frankly, if your feeling it then the more power to ya. As far as I'm concerned, we got the best right here in the 'normal, same old, ordinary journals'!!

We got the big guns. WOOHOO!!!

Ok, you got me blabbing. I think that your baking has rubbed off on me. AGAIN, I WANT TO STATE THAT THIS IS PURE CONVERSATION, AND I'M NOT TRYING TO START A FIGHT AMUNGST US 420ERS!

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH US ALL IN OUR JOINED FIGHT AGAINST THE MAN-CHILD.

All that is very well put.

Dizamn man, the Utopian Sub has really taken off while I have been gone. Love the setup.

Ok - I took a nice vapo of the Volde about an hour ago and I've been in heaven since. This should not be considered a smoke report, but I am baked and wanted to share :)

It is what I would call very stony bud. Whole face is numb. It is also very up. Lots of energy. And then it throws a curveball! My head is spinning like a mutha! Very cool. If you don't like roller coasters you would not like this I don't think. All the other stuff is still there - the stone, the head stuff, the narcotic effects. But it really is like being on Abbey Hoffman's bicycle.

I can't speak to the flavor yet cause I've only vapo so far. But the smell is really cool too. I can't remember whether its this one or the Utopia that was described as nutty, but to me this one definitely has a nice nutty/chocolate smell. Very similar to Nutella hazelnut.

The buds are firm! Very nice consistency. Not nearly as hard as I was afraid they'd be. They're just dense, not hard.

This and the Utopia Haze are the grower's choice, so I'm not sure how much of this will get to patients ;) Each will get to smoke some for sure to see if they want it for next time - but its definitely not a smoke for beginners - either grower or smoker.

:peace: :rollit:

Nice sounding ride!! I found vaping didnt quite do her justice...just mixed some Volde and Violator kush in a bong, nice way to start the day!RoorRip

3 quick pics before bed. I swear they all look worse in the pics than in real life.

5/8 plants in the scrog will get flushed when I wake up in a few hours. And hopefully some of the floor plants as well.

Left Side of Scrog. Mostly Volde.

The Right Side of the scrog. Volde on Left, Utopia Haze on right, with a little DH in background.

Plants on the floor. The droopy one on the left is the Kali Mist that got too much water. Then from her to right are : Montana. Ak-47, Jack Herer, Strawberry Diesel. All in pro-mix and all ready for final flush. And a Utopia Haze from the E&G thats still about 5 weeks away in the foreground on right.

Coco-nuts? :)

hehe - now guys - play nice. Not a comment on bbh, Just some hiccups in site nav. I believe they'll get it sorted nicely.

A few hours til the lights come on and I can check the Pro-Mix. This was the first time I've grown in Pro-Mix and I think over-all it couldn't have been easier. I certainly didn't max out the plants, but they're not terrible, and minimal work and attention. I think I prolly gave them a little too much nutes at the beginning. Aside from this gotcha at the end - my fault on the extra watering - there have been no hiccups with the pro-mix so far. Now we'll see if I can flush these gals. They are yellowing appropriately, so I'm feeling good about it.

I was just looking at the pics up top - man they look bad in those pics. It's also striking that there's not a single Indica leaf in the pic on the floor. Every single one is long and thin.

Now I'm gonna go take care of some stuff before the Laker's game.

Go Lakers!
:cheer::cheer::cheer:

:peace:

P.S. - For anyone who's never really gotten into basketball - tonight marks the beginning of the NBA finals between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. This is the 17th time these two teams have met in the finals. It is perhaps the greatest rivalry in pro-basketball. The Lakers have won the whole thing 2 years in a row but the last time they lost was to the Celtics, and we got STOMPED. I really think this will go down in history as one of the all-time great series.

I highly recommend collecting some great smoke and making an evening of it - its gonna be a brawl.

if you ever figure out what causes that leaf curl and such, let me know...i have it to....one of the reasons i thinned the plants out...wanted to see if that was it? also one of the reasons is these are older plants, and wanted to see if that was it....lavendar...just busy working in the room.

The things I think contribute to it - and unfortunately I've been guilty of most of them on this grow, and some simultaneously:

Root problems. When I see soup in the res, if it makes it to the roots - the leaves curl. Lack of O2 is prolly a better way of phrasing this one.

Over nute.

Over water.

Too Much CO2 - which really just compounds any other inabilities of the plant to uptake nutes. Not really too much CO2, just not enough of something else.

Heat Stress.

Insufficient light.

Insufficient water.

And finally, there are some nutrient lockouts that cause the cells on the top of the leaves to be more rigid than those underneath which also causes curling.

For me - I think the worst curl was heat+over water+over nute+CO2

:peace:

EDIT: Actually, the worst was the soup. The other is more common.

2nd EDIT: For the hydro setups, you can't lift the pot or use a stick, but you can usually tell if its overwatering vs underwatering bythe leaves. If they are curled down but stiff, that's over watering. If they curl down but are limp, that's under. That also applies in dirt, but I find it easier to check the dirt.

Those symptoms also apply to the other things that cause curling. ie - nute lockout can cause very stiff leaves that curl down.

Papa, just wanted to come over and say hello to ya! I'll have to take the time to read through your stuff buddy!

Thank you sir! And don't worry - I don't take offense if folks just skim the pics ;)

Pics!

OK - I was miffed by the uglyness of the previous pics. So I went down and tried to get some that weren't so bad.

Here's one of the room. Hope you can tell there's not nearly as much sickness and yellow as those pics made it look:

Volde Tris 10%

I took a very small bud of the Volde outside for some pics.

There's more amber than these pics make it look. I gotta figure out a good way to get pics of the tris. To see the color you have to front light them, but if I do that then the camera gets in the way.

I need one of those usb scope/cams. Its on the wish list.

So take my word for it they're about 10% amber.
