Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Thanks, Bro. I'm sorry - I forget - are you in Spain or Italy? I might be going to Madrid in a few weeks.

:peace::rollit:

Italy, are you going there for a visit of Madrid or you will have a longer tour?
Cause we know pretty well the Spain, and if you need some advise (depends what you're looking for) i'll be glad to help you.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

If I go, the first trip will be for a week or two to wrap up some business, then I may end up moving there part time. If things go well. The last two times I went I had all day to enjoy the sights, and meetings at night. Hopefully will be the same.

Still very up in the air though. Not at all sure I will even be going.

Wow - that's quite the recommendation. I've never been there - but seen pics, and you're right seems like it would be a great place. My dad, who has traveled and lived all over the world, wants to retire in Costa Rica. His mother (my grandmother) was 100% Spanish, so he speaks Spanish fluently and likes the culture.

I really enjoyed Madrid the other two weeks I was there. Here's hoping I have reason to go back.

You're welcome buddy, Spain is a great place for people that loves simple things, real people and real emotions.
There's a great hash too^^.
Don't forget to tell me if you have to come in Italy, you must stay a week more and come where i live.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

That would be fantastic! Perhaps a rail pass might be in order if I go. I have a few other friends all over Europe that I'd like to visit as well. Was thinking if I get to go - which is 50% at best - that I'd take a week or two to travel. But of course the plants would need some looking after so logistics might get tricky for a long trip.

I'm in the sub PaPa and as I see it you are what I call a pro grower and your plants are so nice not much to say but,WAY TO GROW BRO.:thumb:I am a simple grower the only things I do is clone,otherwise I just let the plant grow normal and I make it the best that each plant can be.I am growing perpetual
and I supply 3 people with meds,their family so its free.again you look like a magician with your plants.:nicethread::bravo:+ reps

Thanks! That is a helluva compliment, and let me return it to you! Your description of your methods is indicative of great stuff! Perpetual harvest and multiple patients really forced me to improve, and adds an element of pressure that is not there when just growing for yourself. You have fantastic plants, and I think you're every bit the pro I am.

I just got caught up brother and :trance::drool:, man that is alot of bud.

Where you trying to grow a rectangle of bud? Cuz you did...:ganjamon:

Jeezus H. Christ...:yummy:

LOL - that's the way I feel when I try to figure out how to wrangle it.

Yep. That is exactly what I was trying to do. I was trying to maximize both the horizontal and vertical throw of the light. A rectangle minus a 6" tube down the middle for the light. I had buds over every square inch of the screen last time. The goal this time was buds in every cubic inch of the light.

Here's hoping the stems and roots are there to handle it.

:thankyou::peace:

P.S. - I did let it get about 6-8" taller than I woulda liked. ;)

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

A rectangle of bud! I've never seen any other grower pack it in that tight. You're setting a new benchmark for what ScrOGin' is all about. Simply amazing. Thanks for sharing - your journal is the best.
:thumb:

About your A/C unit being outside the closed system - are you concerned it's venting unfiltered (smelly) air out of your grow room?

I appreciate the encouragement - but she's not curing yet. It's entirely possible that there are literally too many buds there. I am feeling pretty good that I'm seeing enough decent sized ones that I'm ok comparing to previous grows. But I never really know until the end.

I was gonna say I just like thinking outside the box, but really this one is thinking inside the box. Sorry - am baked.

The smell from the A/C is my biggest worry I guess. It vents up to the crawlspace, then out an attic fan. There's not much smell outside, but I'll admit that if the wind is exactly right, and the plants are in their nite time, before I added a carbon filter - I have smelled it outside. When the carbon filter is running it scrubs enough without actually being attached inline with the A/C that there is no smell outside. I've had others do a smell check. Also, its in my back yard, and there are lots of other smelly legal plants out there.

I just can't get over that scrog papa, incredible!

Thanks, bro! We'll see how the smoke is. I am cautiously optimistic. I tried a LOT of things for the first time in this scrog, so there's still plenty of time for disaster. Getting close though. I am starting to see the first brown pistles on the Volde. I have not even bothered checking tris yet. I'm guessing somewhere between Sunday to Wednesday I will cut out the nutes for the Volde. I want to see some amber tris before I start to ween her. I want a good 50% amber harvest. The Utopia seems to be on track to finish about 3-4 weeks from now.

If those times hold up, that will mean the Volde finished about 7-10 days longer than advertised and the Utopia either right on time or even a little early. IF. If, on the other hand the Utopia goes longer I will not complain a bit cause she's starting to put on some weight and she can take as long as she wants to fatten up as far as I'm concerned. Although I plan to have some quick dried and cured for the Phish shows on July 1st and 2nd.

Mmmmmmm - sounds sooo good. I'm down to my reserve smoke. Plenty of it - but its the stuff that I don't feel is good enough for patients. I am literally drooling now thinking about the plants soon to come. I am also very excited to finally taste this Montana. If I had to guess her strain I would say classic Northern Lights #1, could be #5 I guess, but she seems a little thinner than I think a #5 would be. I learned her previous owner acquired the strain a long time ago from an experienced long time grower, so I am leaning towards #1. Frankly I will be thrilled if that is the case. I literally almost missed a flight out of Amsterdam in 1987 cause I was stoned to the gills on NL in a coffeeshop. I was 17. My dad woulda been PISSED! Not sure if this happens for others, but certain smoke is like certain songs to me - just the taste brings back great memories and somehow makes the high better. Two homegrown strains top that list for me - growers in Northern California that I don't know what if any strain it was. But as far as named strains and experiences - that NL from that day in Amsterdam is tops.

Wow. I have insomnia after all the long nights, and I just medicated up the wazooo - sorry for the rambling post.

:thankyou::peace:

^^^^yea man. WOW is right. It's like a giant Canna-cube. Man, at yield time your gonna need help. I'm available, and have experiance untying knots, using sheers, and not eating the produce when harvesting...............usually. ;) Thats going to take you a while to get up and drying man, but it'll be worth it for Sure... Hey is that Volde the 'Fight Club' strain? (the one your not supposed to talk about?) I figure it is, but just need closure.....lol

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Jason the volde is Limited Slip Differential strain if you get my drift...

PaPs Looking good for sure Cant wait for smoke reports on these two strains... They look to both be my sort of smokes as different as they are... When do I get the report its killing me?... lol

Looking at the setup I would almost think that a bulb hanging vertical in a cool tube might maximize the light more with the scrog around it? just eliminates reflectors and bouncing light just a thought but you probably need horizontal light for early stages still. What you think?

Hi Papa:ganjamon:

Only one comment about the SCROG WOW!:ganjamon::ganjamon::ganjamon:

Thanks! Last night when I was arranging the scrog I was baked and sorta zoning off into no where looking at it from above. All of a sudden I just started giggling and laughing because its so ridiculous!

It is indeed. I named her Voldemorticia. Voledemort being "HE who shall not be named" and Morticia being the Mom from the Adams family to make it a chick name. So - Voldemorticia. Volde for short.

If you think you're jonsing for a smoke report... I can barely see straight. I am soooooooooooo ready to smoke this scrog! I think I'll roll the whole thing into one joint. Then lay on the floor and smoke it for a month.

I had thought about cool tubes, but the water would be a little tricky, and when the hoods are ducted the heat off the bulb is not usually my prob. I was wishing for one on this scrog. It grew so fast it got taller during stretch than I woulda liked, but theoretically its still got a relatively flat top and open canopy. The light is not really down in there.

I have thought about some lights UNDER the scrog, because the buds at the bottom are always very under formed due to lack of light. I have a feeling some t5s or something under the canopy would give a pretty healthy bump in yield. Honestly I have resisted adding other lights to this scrog for the simple reason I am trying to get to an HONEST 1 g/w and 600+g/m2. The breeder's estimates on these strains would make those numbers the very high end of their estimates, but theoretically possible.

If I get less than 1g/w it will be because I let it get too tall and didn't maximize each bud. Basically I wanted to see what "too dense" looks like. I've never seen 1 g/w in real life so its hard to imagine how dense or sizable the buds need to be. I really never could have imagined the last scrog until I saw it, and this one even more so.

I guess if I'm being honest (readying excuses). Also, I'm a little concerned that my bucket system was great for starting them, but I'm very worried that they don't have the roots to pull it off. And there was a lot of fluctuation in their atmosphere (temp, hum, CO2) while I have been finishing the room. Was not supposed to go that way - but the A/C woes did hurt. It has cost two service calls to get the A/C where it works right. $390 total repairs. The tech was out here yesterday for what he assured me would be the last time this year, so we'll see.

Thanks again everyone for the great encouragement.

:thankyou::peace:
