Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Pretty good camouflage you have going in there Papa. Couldn't see a thing until the closeup.

That Green Dragon looks tasty. How the heck did you make it? Throw some keif into everclear?

He used about 2oz very good trim, let it sit on the stove at low heat for about 5 hours with a thermometer in it. Poured it through a cheese cloth. Its killer.

The E&G couldn't be easier. Pay attention to that little elbow with hole for the anti-siphon valve, and make sure you fill it when its on the Drain cycle. Preferably not pumping. Aside from that - its as straight forward as I can think. I rinse the clay off very well before ever putting it in the system - that's the only prep. I don't use any filter bags or anything like that.

Waterings either 15 or 30 minutes of water, depending on how long it takes to fill your buckets, about every hour and half give or take - and I do one about halfway through night.

That's it. Its a great system.

Hi Papa Couldn't see a thing. Old eyes.
Well, how much of the Laker game can you remember?

Heheh. I was silly slap happy for the first half - I remember that. And I remember we won.

Small update: Everything is great! I've gotten sooooooo much done lately it feels like a new room. Am loving the weather and gotta get some other work done so the real update will have to wait til tonight - but I assure you tonight's will be chock full of good shit!

Everything from some electrical done, new fans, remounted old ones, 750w of CFLs hung, Veg room 100% operational, carbon filter in line, circulation pumps going, CO2 working, freed up another 600w (need a bulb), two Reservoirs and nutrient mixes from one controller, moved 12 plants to E&G for veg, moved 6 plants to early veg, transplanted the Montana mom, changed 200G+ of reservoirs, got a rail on the scrog, rehung the light mover, added thermostats, distributed outlets, moved all ballasts into the crawlspace, Utility Sink and plumbing, etc...

Goofy but fun.

Ok - here come a BUNCH of pics. Gonna spread it over a few posts. I'll mix some pron with the room pics. Nothing too crazy to report. All the plants have been varying their consumption of nutes greatly, been a little difficult to keep up, but they seem to have mellowed again.

Some pron to kick things off.

This one's a bummer. I've never had this happen before and I don't know what happened. This Volde has just up and died:

This is what we like for roots. The black is the Liquid Karma its not slimy or nasty and rinses right off:

Kinda funky lighting right now - can't decide what to do with the Montana on the right ;)

Look ma - no electric on floor:

The res that collapsed. That whole back part that's concave right now popped out and then it collapsed. With the added support its now solid and sturdy. Still will beef it up or replace it with a real 50G res one of these days:

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

thank you, what a great tour....you really have some space going for you there.....and it looks nice and healthy....the plants look great....i'm so used to my clones dying, it seems like they're supposed to....
i have a question:
i was told that you can buy zippers to seal out the light that will go on the film or plastic, panda? do you know about them? would seem to be a handy item to have on hand in case anything happens.....asking for me, as my whole set up is the tents, which are zippers....
yours looks very sturdy....volde looks great, i'.. will have to hatch mine one of these days.....great place, and plants, thanks for the tour, lavendar
so that is what a grown up scrog looks like....:cheertwo:

Thanks! More pics in store.

I found the zippers at the hydro store, but I bet they would be much cheaper at a hardware store. They are called "Tarp Zippers." Unfortunately the ones I found were not completely light tight, but good enough that it can be solved pretty easily with a second layer of panda over the zipper - just like the tents. And, yes, I found them very handy. I used them on the door to the veg area. And I'm gonna add one or two other "curtains".

Thanks for making it in here even though you have so much going on and a little under the weather.

lavendar i have a question: i was told that you can buy zippers to seal out the light that will go on the film or plastic said:
Lavendar, we use zipwall on remodels, but I never really checked to see if they block light. I'm betting you could put a strip of black plastic behind it.

I got some 2" wide heavy duty velcro I'm going try and make some tent flaps out... I'll let you know if it works :-)

The velcro is a close but no cigar for me. I tried it. If you use too much you can't get the flap open, or the velcro ends up being stronger than the plastic and tears the plastic. If you use too little it still lets light through. If you make a really nice big flap with at least a foot or two of overlap - then a few squares of well placed velcro would do it great I think.

Another tip - if you're making a light flap - make sure you have black facing black if you want to block light. The white will bounce the light right out.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

PG, I just finished reading your adventures, nice thread. When I read where you were using a plastic garbage can for a rez, I was thinking ohhh nooo... I seen 'em split. I'm a heavy metal guy now:smokin2:

It was great to see how a scrog works, but I'm still a little confused. In the numbered diagrams you posted, is #1 the first top? If so, you keep moving that towards the middle row of the screen? I gotta go back and see if I can find that map!

I'm going to flower in a crawlspace under a house. 70" from dirt to floor joists. 4'x4' footprint, w/ a 1000wHPS. With pots on the floor, I might 3' from the screen to the light. I also have 7 nice White Russian x ?. Think that's enough room for business?

Anyway, nice, nice work. Sweet garden. Thanks for taking the time and patience to put this out there, too. +reps
