Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm Makes 3 - Perpetual 2000w

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Well folks gonna make this short cause I'm in a sour mood and I gotta go deal with the prob.

I can say with confidence that the electrical is off the floor and the room is flood safe.

My new 50G Rubbermaid Guaranteed for Life trash can FAILED! It buckled and fell over with a brand new 50G of water and nutes. Very expensive spill.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

I'm glad to hear all is well in the sub again my friend. Sorry about the light buring out. I don't mess with electricty it like to shock me, but when my older kuz comes back up I'll have him do it for me.. Me and power just dont get along, extenion cords and power strips work for me at this present time. Well I only running 2 fans, 9 cfl bulbs and a 40 watt shop light...

Oh btw your ladies are looking very nice and that AK, I have to try to get my hands on that one of these days. I haven't smoked that yet.

Thanks guys.

Ah yes. Jah is testing me. These are the things I hate about a new setup or an old setup. Things fail.

Mini Update

The plants showing the deficiency are still struggling, but man are they drinking. Since I changed the res 3 days ago they have been going through about 200-300 ppm of nutes a day. Far above the 150 in 3 days they used to gobble. So this little spill really couldn't have come at a worse time, just put about $50 of nutes in the res, and now gotta do it again :(

The burnt out light bulb has inspired me however.

I have decided to put the 3 huge Volde plants outside. The weather has been awesome here last 2 days so I've gotten lots done on prepping a garden and digging holes for a nice herb and tomato garden with the Volde growing in amongst. Really its a little late for planting the other stuff, but I'll see what I can find at the nurseries. I will be growing the Volde basically flat along the ground. Pics to come later.

So basically I'm in total panic mode here about just about everything, but practicing a fair amount of denial and just throwing myself into the tasks at hand and trying to block all the negative shit from my mind.

That sucks about the rez man... try that thing to the wall lol... I think that lifetime guarantee is for its use as a trash receptacle ;)

I just had my only MH ballast burn out on me after about 20 hours of use and I cant return it.

Plants looking good though Im hoping to get one of those strains at least in the future cant remember if you had a smoke report yet? which would you recommend between volde and utopian haze?

Thanks you two. Sucks on the ballast for sure. No doubt this game can throw some pretty mean curve balls.

As far as the two strains - I don't have a smoke report yet.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Ouch! So sorry to hear the sub got flooded and you lost all those nutes. Of course, I had no doubt you'd recover quickly - you've gotta be the hardest working grower on this forum.

Very interesting to hear you'll be adding some outdoor growing to this journal. The sub has surfaced! I'm planning a move to Northern New Mexico some day and think the climate there would be very good for an outdoor grow so I'll be watching with great interest.

Thanks, as always, for the ideas and inspiration. It's a pleasure to watch a master at work.

Cool outdoor monsters under the big MH!

Papa I don't think your to late to plant outside for herb's and tomato's, Here in CO we wait until Mothers Day to plant outside... This year it snowed two day's later had to cover em up what a PITA! :surf:

Get this, I call up my mentor tell him what I got going on. He tells me you know where the key is just go in the shop and take as many panels as you need... I told him I don't need them to be new, still in the box... I'm looking for the used ones you have in "The Pile" outside... He then wanted to argue with me about not taking the new ones... So I will be getting them cleaned up and painted and we will be on our way...

Dam good reason to mount it all on the ceiling IMHO! I will be rewiring my rooms again soon, I know after 1 cycle where my drops need to be, and I will be pulling a new sub panel and mounting it in the grow room, I will get that one new from my bro, as I want a water tight box and those are not cheap. You have inspired me to think about mounting every thing up high :thumb: :peace:

Not a master yet - but thanks very much! I am getting better every day, however, thanks to this site! And yep - I think its gonna be a very cool outdoor plant. Will be low to the ground but very high yield I think.

Man I'd give my left nut to have you and your buddy near me.

As far as where to mount electrical - ALWAYS ABOVE THE WATER LINE! Including extension cords that run along the ground. If it can get nicked it goes off the ground for me.

And including where water can possibly spray accidentally! This is a big one for me. When water hoses pop off or I forget to close a valve on a hose and turn on the water - its high pressure! I don't fuck around waiting for a slow trickle to fill the 200+ Gallons of water in all my reservoirs. So when I have a water prob - its a doozie! I have accidentally shot water 5 or 6 feet across the room multiple times! :smokin2:That's why I use the Panda film more than the Mylar. Mylar is electrically conductive and oxidizes from moisture.

Also, as far as the ceiling - I wasn't totally clear - I have a nice crawl space above the room, so the electrical will go on the floor of the crawlspace, above the ceiling.

Also, on a side note, the carpet is outdoor carpet. The same thing you'd find at a nice marina. It has no pad and is glued directly to the cement floor of the garage with waterproof glue. It dries very quickly. I think its very important in any grow room to have a floor you don't care about spilling a little water or nutes or dirt or whatever on.

Another post coming in minutes with some semi-fun pics. And tonight when lights come on after the Lakers game I will get good pics of the room. Lots to show down there.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

OK, here are some various pics of various things. Have to break the sour monotony of the last few days.

So - first up is our Utopia Haze clone/top. Been hardening for the last 3 days. She is looking fan-fucking-tabulous in the outdoors. I kinda pushed a little on the nutes as you can see with a little burn, but that's fine! In fact preferred in many ways as far as I'm concerned.

UH_hardening_2.jpg

UH_hardening.jpg

The weather was great here for two days and then some rain today. But this is some of what I did while the weather was nice:
new_garden.jpg

hole_to_g.jpg

This is a random pic of my "Weed Tree." This is a common backyard weed, that has been allowed to grow for 5 years! I had a friend who went to Nepal and she sent me a pic like this of a real weed - cannabis plant - that was this big. She was standing on a second story balcony and the plant was grown up above the roof. This is not cannabis, but still thought its fun to see what a multi-year weed looks like.
weed_tree.jpg

A simple hookup for my garage - hose taking water INTO garage. And the drain back out from my new sink. The water coming out the drain is the literally CONSTANT stream from the dehumidifier and A/C. After the spill and the high humidity today - they are working hard! Humidity in the room has fluctuated between 56% - 68% since the spill. It think/hope it'll be back to 40-50% in a day or two tops.

water_in_out.jpg

And last, but certainly not least! WTF are these! Little white hoppy bugs/larvae in the buckets. Not in the res. If I didn't know better I'd say mosquitos. I have no idea on these and have not done research yet - if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated!
wtf_bugs_.jpg

The update later will show the current clones - some interesting/mixed results - but the backups are doing stellar and we won't lose any time. Just toss the stragglers and keep the best. Also, I added a rail to the scrog to help the one end and its much better. The buds in the scrog have kicked into the final phase and are starting to look juicy.

Thanks again for all the support last few days from everyone! I know I was a little whiny and I'll try to curtail that.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

those are great looking plants....most def. sativa's, nice leaves....i just finished reading about some pot plants in asia, that are thirty ft tall, with trunks over six inches across, the weather is so mild that they grow like trees...now that would be interesting....lavendar:cheertwo:

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

You have springtales. Little beneficial bugs that eat decaying plant matter and algea/fungus. I did a little research and decided to keep them around for their beneficial uses in my garden, and no drawbacks soo far. It's been 4 months now that I've had them. They will spread to moist locations, and are often mistaken for thrips, but are smaller, and white to brown, and float around in little clumps when flooded. 'Rafts" I call it. loll your fine man. Good bugs. ;)

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

ps. they are most likely draining down when your pots watering system runs. They don't actually live in the water, but moist grow medium/locations. The ones your seeing are most likely the ones that got washed away. The res wouldn't have them/many because they are living by trimming the roots, and eating up nasties in the rootzone. By trimming the roots I mean eating the dead tips thus promoting better root branching. Just like topping or FIM'ing your plants above ground.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Looking great Papa! That top is awesome, I need to cut the two tops (my bad fim job) off my JC2 mom to keep her small. So I think I'm going to try that. Baggie, need holes in it? And rootech, And I have some FFOF the same soil the mom is in... :goodluck: I will just give them to a friend if I don't kill em, I wish I could grow some weed outside!

I had a plant hermi, she's is no longer among the living. Maybe two days till she dry enough to trim... Oh hello I forgot to get a case of jars. Maybe I should smoke less before going to the store. I write notes, I just lose them. :smokin2:

My mentor is a good cat! He owes me big time, he knows I will never bring it up and never abuse the privilege... When you work where we did a down machine meant stopping the line... $10,000 a minute when the line stopped... He paid me well, I took calculated risk's so to speak... We were retro fitting a plant built in the forty's with all new wiring, 24 hours a day 7 days a week we had someone there working. The plant ran 3 shifts we had to work around them Crazy, Lot's of places to hide and toke a J in that place! :smokin:

You hiding a periscope in that outdoor plant?
I haven't forgot about ya,I've just been busy! Peace Bro :slide:

Huge pot plants are amazing. The biggest I've ever seen in real life was about 10' tall. Cola bigger than my arm. Once they go more than a year though, they lose potency. Then it really does just become a weed. Not had the time to do the reading I'd like lately - I'll be checking out your journal later.

Thanks so much for the quick response on the bugs! I read it the other day, but have simply been too busy to post. I feel guilt if I only respond to one comment, so I was waiting til I had enough time to catch up.

Sounds like the best kind of bugs to have. They are welcome to my garden any time!!!

AMEN!!!

Thanks OMM. Yubb. I actually feel better about the room now that that happened. The room is now battle tested. Electrical, H2O, temps - everything seems to be where I need it basically. A few more venting and fan issues to deal with - gotta try to scrape out another 3000-5000 BTUs of efficiency somewhere or get another small air conditioner. The Veg room climbs to 82 and that's too hot for my liking. But that's the worst problem right now - so I can deal with it at a comfortable pace. I THINK - THINK being the key word - that all fires are out now.

Bummer about the hermi. As far as the clone and baggie - I did no holes. The bottom of the bag stayed semi-open and let air in. I used the super big zip lock bags.

I know what you mean with pressure at work like that. I work as a DIT - Digital Imaging Tech for TV and Film. My job is not to operate the camera, only to make sure it operates correctly, and set any complicated menu settings. Also I'm responsible for the time code and the footage. I always check the camera in between setups. If everything is going right, then you never hear my name on the radio. Basically I'm a data monkey.

But - if you DO hear my name on he radio - then its an emergency. It means the actors are on set, prepped in makeup and last looks are done, sound is ready, pyro and effects going, Director and DP sitting at the camera - everything ready to go, and they hit record and nothing. Then the adrenaline kicks in. Then like you said its anywhere from 100K-250K an hour while the crew stands around. And when I'm working, every Producer from the Agency, the Studio, the location... every big wig within radio range has to run to the camera to make sure that everything is being done. So I have to try to squeeze through this crowd of squeaky shoes, without disturbing cables, batteries, video village, props, camera, lights, audio, actors or anything else and fix the problem while EVERYONE watches EVERY single button I push or menu setting I change.

Pressure.

-----------------------

OK some minor updates for the daytime - while lights are out - then some big updates from the sub.

All is cruising along. Got in a few great days of yard work, and not only got lots gone on the cannabis sites, but also did some good landscaping in the front yard.

Here's a pic of the back yard from my deck. There are 3 cannabis plants in this pic - can you find them?
from_deck.jpg

This is an Azalea plant I transplanted from elsewhere on my property. And my dog making sure nobody screws with my hours of work! Good dog! Also, there is a pot plant or two behind it - can you find them?
I_guards_Azaela.jpg

And last but not least - this is Green Dragon. My friend made this from some trim I gave him. Its Everclear and THC. One 30ml shot in a glass of Orange Juice makes a great mixed drink and is GUARANTEED to please.
green_dragon.jpg

EDIT: The jar has condensation on it - just took it from the fridge pre-Laker game. Makes it look less clear than it really is. It is very cool - crystal clear neon-green. And what looks like particulates in the pic are not.

I know I keep promising pics of the sub, but soooo much work and upgrades been done. Simply no energy left to post the last few days. I HOPE to wrap that up tonight, clean the place up and get some pics.

BTW I have moved the 6 Volde and 6 Utopia Haze to the E&G buckets. They are still in veg, but in their permanent buckets now. Pics coming later of course.

Gotta get some more stuff done, then get highly medicated and check out everyone else's great work.
