UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GSC

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Actually, it's funny you ask about a journal, cos I was gonna ask a mod or someone, but I wanna do a journal about gardening in general, Australia, starting right now with 2 ak49 autos that I just put out last week; and LSD and Liberty Haze photos to come. I 'd start them now but we have a 7 month veg time here so....for starters I can't let them get too big! Plus I'm starting on (a) roses, got some herbs, just built a PVC conduit/shadecloth greenhousefor everything and wanna try my hand at some orchids...
So basically hoping that as long as I got some MJ it won't be off topic! I should ask Mr Teddy; I haven't sub'd yet to him but love his life! And he's a mod yada yada.. if you're out there Mr Edwards (love your work, just subbed to too many and can't keep up..) how far off topic can I go when on topic, if you follow....?

MassMedMan has an Off Topic vegetable journal going. Go to Off Topic in "Forums", best of luck.

You can post anything (within the general rules) you want in off-topic threads. Pics which don't have at least some hint of MJ in them have to/are supposed to be uploaded in to the 'off topic' gallery. They don't get the 420 logo/stamp on them. Those unstamped pics then will be eventually deleted if they are posted outside the off-topic area. As for the reverse- no reason you can't post the regular pics in off-topic.
I doubt they'll want to delete anything if it's even 1% relative to the MJ (" this gum tree provides essential shade for my garden...) but a beauty shot of an orchid by itself would have to go.
The mods I'm sure don't actually want to be deleting stuff and will let us push things quite far. I've managed to go at least two weeks now without pissing them off.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Sweet I'll hunt down a mod and find out.. The mj context won't be hard cos most of my plants are in the same area ie. my greenhouse... That's what made me think about it cos apart from close-ups of the ak49s, a few of my other plants will be in the photos so I thought: why not a mj/gardening journal.. Same soil for everything, including mj.. Actually wouldn't be that exciting for a while cos I'm still playing around, I built a good size green house but not huge so it won't take long to fill it up.
More of a journal of my evolution as a general gardener, with the mj being the central theme/inspiration which provides the methods to use on all plants; soil-building etc....

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Yea I remember a mod telling me the reason why we can't post piks of veggies in our journals is because the site is open searchable someone could type carrots into Google images and end up on a 420 journal with a random carrot photo lol and obv someone searching for carrots don't really want to end up here

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Thanks SWOGA, WC, and Alibongo for sharing your experiences about off topic subject matter. I'm a relative newbie here myself so your experiences with this type of stuff is welcome news.

I've been slapped on the hand a couple of times myself since signing up but it's always been for minor and accidental infractions. And I must say that the PM's from the mods are always very cordial and polite.
I guess I really should read all of the do's and don't s of the site someday. LOL!!

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Hey there :420: friends. I have some really great news to share.
I've been away for the past several days and have returned home to find my garden still intact and standing and my plants still alive and doing well.
:Namaste::allgood::slide::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

As those of you who have been following along for a while can probably imagine, this was a very welcome change compared to some of the garden disasters that I've returned home to find. :)

Big thanks for the comps Ganjazz.
Things seem to flow along much more smoothly when the garden gnomes are hibernating that for sure.
I'm hesitant to say that they've migrated and are gone for good as I'm sure I haven't seen the last of them. But I must say that I'm enjoying the lack of excitement. :)

Run two threads - your grow journal for on-topic and another off-topic as a release valve for all the other stuff that excites you enough you want to share.

What a relief!!! I have to admit, I was holding my breath! :laughtwo: Welcome back UncleCannabis. I hope the trip was worth the time away from your girls?

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

What a relief is right. LOL!!
I don't worry about the girls much while I'm away anymore. I used to lose sleep at night worrying but I've come to accept the fact that things will go off the tracks sometimes which may result in crop failure. Worrying won't prevent it.
Whatever will be will be. Expect the worse, hope for the best. :)

The trip was worth being away from the girls actually (whispering so the girls don't hear me).
I got to visit Italy for the first time. It was a business trip but I was able to squeeze in a half day of sightseeing while there. It's a really wonderful place steeped in lots of history.
I intend to return there someday soon but on my own time as a tourist. I'd love to spend a few weeks touring the countryside and really seeing and experiencing the place without being rushed. Return to Italy has definitely been added to my bucket list.

Weekly Summary
It's now been 5 weeks since flip and things appear to be going relatively smoothly.
The stretching seems to have come to a halt and it appears that they are now settled in. It's bud building time now. :)

I was away for most of the week so the Blumats were taking care of the watering chores while I was away. I should have set them up sooner and gotten them calibrated and tuned in properly with some monitoring time before I left.
When I returned home I noticed that the Blumats were set a bit too "wet" and were delivering more water than I would have liked. Oh well, live and learn.

I noticed some light leaf yellowing on a couple of the girls that could be nitrogen deficiency and on some of the others I'm seeing what could be calcium and/or magnesium deficiency.
Some of this could be caused by over watering, but since it's now been about 6 weeks since they've been transplanted I assume that it's also time to begin topdressing.

So after turning off the Blumats and allowing the girls to dry out for a day and and a half I went ahead and top dressed all of the original girls with a mix of composted soil, worm castings, bone meal, and epsom salt.
I added 3 small garden shovel scoops to each of the original plants, worked it in with a fork, then watered in. We'll see how they react over the next week.

And last but not least, a new girl has been introduced to the grove since the last update.
The original clones that were taken are getting quite large now so I decided to add one of the original LA Chocolat clones on Sunday of last week.

Used Soil - Regeneration Update

About a week ago I loaded some of my used soil into 3 open top tote containers, mixed in some light amendments, then planted some beans, dill, coriander, and mint seeds.
Most of the seeds have now all sprouted and have broken ground. Luckily we had a couple of rain showers while I was away otherwise the top few inches would have dried out for sure. Lucky me. :)

In a few weeks or so I'll turn it all under and allow the green manure to compost along with some dried leaves and a couple of other items that I'll add in at the same time.

Nice updates.

Gonny try calibrate and monitor blumats again , didnt work good before,

:tokin:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Once they are calibrated they work great for what I use them for but set-up and calibration are critical.
I like to let my soil go through wet/dry cycles which the bluemats are not capable of doing. So now that I'm close to home I've turned off the blumats and will hand water.
If I do need to leave again I'll plan to turn the blumats back on at least 3 or 4 days before leaving to ensure that the feed rates are set to my liking.
The over watering problem was due to my lack of proper planning, not the blumats. :)

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

A couple of suggestions if you intend to use them again:
1. Make sure that all air is removed when soaking the carrots before installing.
2. When turning on the water supply after installing the carrots allow lots of water to flow out to ensure that all air is displaced in the lines.
3. Make sure that you have a bleed/air release valve installed at the end of the supply lines and make sure to bleed out all trapped air.
4. When performing the setup calibration as recommended I've found that the feed rate is too high. Keep cutting back slowly over a day or 2 until the top 2 to 3 inches of soil are mostly dry (except for where the water is released from the carrots).

If you'd like to have wet/dry cycles you can turn off the supply valve and let the medium dry out as much as you'd like then turn the supply valve back on.

Vegetable Soup for Girlz

Yesterday evening I went to my local supermarket to stock up on humanoid nutrients and decided to bring along a couple of 5 gallon buckets with the hopes of scoring some free plant nutrients while I was there.

I got with the store manager and asked if they had some old produce out back that was to be disposed of for use in my compost bins. He brought me to the warehouse area and pointed me toward some boxes of old produce and told me to have at and take all that I wanted.
:high-five::adore::adore:
So I filled up my 2 buckets with lots of goodies and brought them home along with my human nutes.
Most of it went into my bins but I took an assortment of the veggies and am making a veggie soup that will ultimately end up in the garden.

Ingredients include:
Bananas - Broccoli - Carrots - Cauliflower - Onions - Potatoes - Celery - Parsley - Grapes - Kale - Cabbage - Aloe Vera (from my garden)

thumb_IMG_1927_1024.jpg

thumb_IMG_1930_1024.jpg

I cut everything up in small pieces and let slowly boil in a large pot for 15 minutes then simmer for another 15 minutes.
Once cool I'll filter out the veg matter and put into my bins. The filtered liquid will be used as a tea at a 1:5 soup to water ratio.

It smells good enough to eat. I may put some aside, add a bit of salt and pepper, maybe some garlic, and try some myself before feeding it to my girls. Crash Test Uncle if you will. LOL!

Have any of you ever used this type of tea/veggie soup for your MJ plants before? This is a first for me so any advice would be appreciated.
