I exaggerate for the sake of humour... We use an about 12Ltr/2.5gal pail w/lid and fill it every week with all non meat/dairy scraps, old bread etc.. This goes into 60 Ltr/15gal rubbish bin (drilled out lots for aeration) which sits on top of my garden waste pile (about 1.5-2sqM/18-20sqft by about a metre high compost bin) in weekly-alternating spots left to right to centre, to encourage worms to head toward the bin, (hopefully) populating the compost..When I'm ready I'll chuck the contents of the rubbish bin, which will be in varying stages of decomposition from top to bottom depending on how full I let it go (difficult to fill!), in with the garden waste, mix it up, then start filling the rubbish bin again, while the big mix sits again..
Wife only separates the eggshells, and saves our coffee grinds, which are those pod things (I've tried to get her to empty them for me too but that was pushing it a bit too far...
), which sit for a while then I dry it and bottle it...
I give it all a turn every couple of weeks, and it's always nice and warm; sometimes the kitchen scraps rubbish bin smell a bit, but in a sweet way, not rancid, which is to be expected: we eat a lot of fruit and veges/salad...
Don't worry about that last; I'm not gonna preach veganism, or cross-fit (first rule of cross-fit: tell everyone you're doing cross-fit) or whatever.. I mean; I mean no offense to vegans et al, but I eat meat, smoke cigarettes, drink beer as often as possible...
My diet is mostly in the wifes hands, thank god; and I'm too tight to buy much take-away.. Luckily for me she likey pizza (at least once a week) too!
