Thirvnrob's Power Plant - TLO Soil In SIP Containers

Good question Azi. I'd wonder about different pheno types too. Some differences in seeds from the same bag are remarkable and fun!
They’re guaranteed to be female so I’ll at least get a replacement if she does turn out to be a he. Honestly, I’ve never laid eyes on a male cannabis plant…

My Wedding cake and Do-si-do run each had one plant grow and smoke differently. It's like a bonus! Oh,keep looking at the node crotches for pistols....or not.

Up potted the Sour Diesel today. To be honest, I was a little leery of the task & I put it off. I bought these small containers a few weeks ago that resemble SIPs in that they draw water from the bottom. I was skeptical until today. They were in plain old FFOF but now reside in LOS. I had to fight to get them out of their pots. Now it’s show time…

I think I must’ve screwed something up with my layering when I built these pots. They look over fed to me. This manifested last week & at this point I’m not sure anything would make a difference. Day 53 (of an expected 56) of flower, day 66 post flip.

They look like some girls I fried at the finish line during my second grow. The leaves lost their color in the course of a few days & shriveled up & turned crispy. It started with the bottom fans & quickly spread throughout the plant - even the sugar leaves are shriveling. I'd love to be wrong...

The Solo version helps establish the roots early on that they'll use in the larger containers, making the transition quicker when you up-pot.
What's your opinion on this root development? Does it look like the pots I had them in served the sip purpose? Does this question make sense?

I'm not sure I've seen an LOS plant all of a sudden get overfed late in flower. Not even sure how that could happen.
Do you have another theory? I don't understand it either but the leaves are drying up & the tips are turning brown & crispy. Also, the trichs look the same as they did 5 days ago...

Dunno much about SIPs but those roots look different from regular soil roots at that stage, so if the plants are moving up to a bigger SIP that's probably a good thing.

The obvious other theory is that the TLO soil ran out of nutes for the final stage of flower and they're showing deficiencies. Potassium deficiencies in flower cause leaves to yellow and edges to burn. Nitrogen deficiencies start with yellowing on the lowers and work up the plant as it progresses.

Ok. Now I remember this being a gradual yellowing of some lower fans & maybe it was you or @StoneOtter I had this conversation with already. 5 gal of los isn't fertile enough to nourish a plant through fruition, so top dressing at the correct intervals is necessary. I ain't did that. I did however, order me some Gia Green through the zon today.
Will these buds continue to ripen with all the leaves on their last legs?

I know that many folks do well top dressing with GeoFlora, so if Gaia Green is similar then you should have similar results.

Lots of folks say "we're growing flowers not leaves" when plants fade like that, though I'm not sure if a hungry plant can possibly produce flowers as well as healthy green one. It's a hard test to set up though!
Actually, I have what I need to make my own top dressings. I'll have to do a comparison grow...

You know what? I'm sitting here cool as a cucumber knowing I probably missed the mark. Hopefully they'll continue to ripen but I've learned a great deal with this grow & since I've included Sour Diesel in this journal we'll see if I can apply what I've learned & hopefully have a better outcome with these polar opposite divas.
The first trich pics I shared of the yellow leaved power plant were from a bud I took & then dried for a couple days & then of course, consumed. I wouldn't have wanted to drive immediately afterwards, but it wore off quickly...

Those roots look good. They're more of the water seeking roots than the fine feeder roots I get in a true SIP, but they look pretty healthy!

Your reservoir doesn't hold much water as evidenced by that 'cross' of roots at the top of your bottom pic. Those are the types of pots @Krissi Carbone grows in, and we've all seen the beautiful plants she grows.

Theoretically those roots were made for SIP! I like it a lot and think the stall will be short.

Bingo! Gia or Geoflora etc or learn to topdress. I haven't learned yet, but folks that do make the best runs!
Maybe double down on microbial feeding. They help.

Sorry, but I have taken my eyes off of your grow for a bit, and now I feel a need to comment. I clearly see a potassium deficiency here. It's not logical that an overfeeding situation would suddenly set in at this late stage after growing so well before. It does look like your supersoil lost some of its super. We could examine your recipe, cooking time, etc and try to figure out why it happened, but that is what I see. The elongated tip burns with clawing at the ends, the gradual yellowing from bottom up, these are classic signs of potassium deficiency... you have simply run out of one of the macro nutrients. It stuns me that others haven't given you this diagnosis yet.

Even my geoflora grows need extra potassium to grow these beautiful buds and I add a heavy dose of Terpinator to every bit of water I bring in, to compensate. I bet if you added some you would see some greening up before harvest, but this has been building for some time and is going to be hard to reverse completely in the time you have left.

Thanks Em. They’re right at the finish line now & I’m letting the pots dry up. But for future reference, can I add the Terpinator to the res? Is the recommended dose a healthy one or should I increase it?
