The Sauga Ends Here

Finally got around to getting the NextLight Mega installed. It's running at 30K lux at the top of the canopy which is 48" below. I have to thank a Bootiful friend for helping me out in getting it up here. They do ship to Canada, but there were other reasons why I went the route I did. It's a great light, and although it never came with the dimmer as promised, the fine folks at NextLight are sending me one out at no charge. Something slipped through the cracks but it's all good now.

:Rasta:
It's a Stairway to Heaven Light. NOICE!

Not at all. You should use a combination of calcitic and dolomite. I use dolomite as I don't have the calcitic.
Aha - OK!

But... I thought that reusing soil means adding various things to boost it into "freshness", or something. I see people using "Recharge" and a wide variety of other additives. Is that only for LOS-style grows?

I've been experimenting with some ghetto-soils recently, which is me reusing my soil with perlite by adding stuff I have around the house (e.g. compost, molasses, coffe grounds, ashes, banana peel water, Epsom salt...). The initial soil is the cheap garden type peat/lime/sand/NPK mix, and I'd think there's little left of the NPK at least. I got a coupe of extremely tiny plants the last round - I though that might have to do with the soil, but that might not be it(?)

If you do indeed only add calcitic/dolomite, how many times can you reuse the soil?

What he said only this time it's official!
lol, thanks!
Do you mean nitrogen to sulfur or nitrogen to silica?
N to Sulfur. It varies depending on the source to as high as 20:1

If it was LOS, yes. With FFOF once the built in nutrients are used up the ferts you give are all that's available to the plant.

Unless you have a lab do a soil test you have no idea what elements, and at what ratios, are in there. So it's hit and miss in my opinion.

I went two runs on this batch, from new bags of soil. I probably could have went one more, but two I know I had no issues with.

Yes, probably. At best, I have only a little less than the very faintest idea of what I'm doing soil wise :cheesygrinsmiley:

Noted! And that gives me hope that a couple of rounds with my ghetto soils aren't entirely hopeless...

Good grief MrS! Between you and Shed, I should skip reading my canna books and read both your journals! Some of the stuff I’ve learned from you guys is still trying to sink in through the heavy brain fog! You guys rock man! :headbanger:

It hurts me sometimes, but I struggle through it. :cheesygrinsmiley:
Thanks so much!

CONGRATULATIONS on being voted October's MOTM!

BTdubs, your signature needs updating!

What he said

:cheer:

Going forward my plants are getting a healthy dose of silica from start to finish.
Remember that the Kalashnikov is extremely mold resistant. Don't think she will have any problems.
In the other room it's Kalashnikov's with my virtual girlfriend. She doesn't know she's that, so keep it to yourself.
I did not know that.....
So cute.:kisstwo:

there's wine j/k it's whiskey!
That's what I like to hear! Way better than wine IMHO.

Cheers.

I always had you as someone to be self-aggrandizing. ;)
Not at all. I tend to look at promoting myself as being powerful or important. Other than a vaccine, google is probably the best thing going right now.
Hey MrS. Do you use a light meter with your led lights? Thinking I need one because I found some light burn while trimming lol.
Shed can help you on that I think. There's a site to convert par to lux if I recall. The Mega is an all white LED light so I think the lux comparison may be similar, but I don't really know.

NextLight fixtures emit a full spectrum, bright white light which is more sun-like than even your traditional HPS. Using this spectrum you can expect tighter internodal spacing and better overall quality.
Contrary to popular beliefs of the past, NextLight continued to pioneer the use of bright white, full spectrum LED, which has now become the gold standard of grow lighting.
NextLight's Full Spectrum is easy to work under and provides the same sun-like qualities plants love without the negatives of high energy requirements and high heat.

Wow. You have your own Sun now. Incredible! :high-five:
